Chapter 6: Placid Tranquility, Part 3

"Naeterou doesn't necessarily need help. The problem is Nixanya. They're both like sisters to me, I know how they are. Naeterou will not get involved," she replied.

"Alright then. Let's do this. Does Syn know?" he asked, but she merely shook her head again.

"She has no idea and Celeste doesn't know that I know-well maybe she does. Even if that's the case, she would've said something if she thought I would say something. Anyway, first thing tomorrow morning we'll be going. If all goes well, the signing should go off nicely," she explained.

"Wait-signing? Who's signing what?" he asked, suddenly very confused.

Nanao shook her head, as she didn't seem to care that he knew, so long as it wouldn't cause anymore disputes.

"Tomorrow, Celeste is going to the same place we're going. She told me I'm supposed to sign papers, but that really doesn't make any sense," she told him.

"Wha...? But I thought that she was watching the castle?" he asked, Nanao shaking her head.

"It's all a ruse to keep us focused. We're supposed to represent the kingdom tomorrow. This is why she said that Naeterou and Nixanya were in 'danger'. To alert us. Naisyn doesn't know this, so keep it between us. There is a signing that is to link the country under Celeste's control, which will get us more land, and the country will get weaponry and more supplies. However, I don't trust it. I feel as though a battle may take place and they may fight us. They're a small country, but they are strong, Storm. Stronger than you think." She said this with an intense look in her eyes. Storm nodded once, feeling a bit tense as well.

"-But-why tell me?" he questioned her.

"You know why...and also because I trust you more than the useless cat," she said, referring to Naisyn.

Regardless, she was afraid that she would spoil everything, or become lazy over the plan, if that was even possible. Storm understood this and chuckled a bit.

"Yeah, I got you-heh-alright." he said to her.

Nanao stood up and walked towards the door. As she opened it, she turned to look at him.

"Don't fail us, Storm. No matter what, do not fight them. We need your assistance, understood?" she asked.

Storm grinned and crossed his arms.

"I got this," he said to her, ensuring her that everything would be fine.

She closed the door and Storm locked it. Lying in bed afterwards, he heaved a sigh. "All I've got to do, is stop a war, right? No pressure," he said to himself.

The next morning, Storm awoke early as told and went to prepare. He wore a grey shirt with a blue jacket, and jeans. He took his shoes, walked from his room down the corridor, sat on a chair nearby, and put them on. He checked the time on his phone: 6:45 AM. He yawned, laying back into the chair and falling asleep until he heard a chip bag crinkling.

Naisyn sat from across him eating fish crackers and staring at him. She stared at him, and Storm sighed and sat up, looking over to the girl.

"What?" he asked, annoyed.

"Ah, you're awake. Hi," she said to him plainly, reaching in the bag and offering him a cracker.

"I'm good." He denied the food, earning a pout from Naisyn.

She threw it at him, and he caught it in his mouth with ease. He shrugged, taking a bite. The cracker was salty, but good. Nanao walked up to the two, stopping and crossing her arms.

"We've yet to eat, and I find you two eating snacks. Naisyn, put those away, we're going to eat," Nanao took the bag from her, causing Naisyn to whine softly.

"Give it baaaack-." This annoyed Nanao, and she dragged Naisyn by her shirt across the floor.

Storm followed to the dining room and sat down. He rested his cheek on his hand in deep thought. He thought about what Nanao said last night, how important this was. Earlier, what felt like a moment ago, he was eating cheesecake and worrying about being scolded. Last night bought him some insight. The servants began bringing food, but Storm didn't even notice.

"-orm-Storm." Nanao tapped his shoulder as she sat next to him.

He looked to her, as he realized she had been calling him.

"Are you alright?" she asked. He shrugged.

"I'm-I don't know. I'm thinking a lot," he replied to her.

"Last night?" she asked, and Storm nodded as he ate some of the pastries at the table.

"Don't worry about me, though. I'll be fine." He stuffed his face, causing Nanao to chuckle a bit.

The girl attempted to hide this, but he noticed, knowing full well what he was doing. Naisyn was oblivious to the conversation, eating fish that the chef had made. After eating, the three headed outside to prepare for the meet up of the signing. Storm stretched, his stomach full as they prepared to leave.

"It'll be a short trip; we're not taking any transportation," Nanao told two as they walked near the edge of the cliff nearby where the castle stood.

Nanao gave the two instructions, however this was mostly an act as to not give Naisyn any suspicion.

She might've been lazy, but the girl was sharp. "We'll be heading to the small island nearby Nova. It's part of Tenebris, the dark nation, so be on your guard. It isn't too big an island, and we might see their army from a distance. I'm not sure what it is that Celeste is doing, but whatever it is, she needs us." Nanao briefed the two.

This was a lie and was obvious to Storm as he already knew what was going on. So why was it that he felt so nervous, hearing these instructions? Maybe the pressure was getting to him?

"The Celestial symbol will be visible from afar, with Celeste's energy emanating from the ground over there. We are to go there and wait for further instructions. You two understand?" she asked, looking to the two.

"Yeah!" The two said to Nanao. She smiled, her black hair waving in the wind.

"Nixanya might be troublesome, but there shouldn't be any consequences besides her. If all is well, let's go," she said, grabbing a crystal from her pocket and shattering it, vanishing from sight.

Naisyn and Storm did the same, vanishing from sight, a violet sparking energy being left behind.
