6) Land of Water arc
After the Uchiha incident, Hiruzen retires from his position as the Hokage and the new village elders collectively appoints Tsunade as the new Hokage since Jiraiya refused the position. Izuna is tasked the responsibility to bring her back to the village. Izuna always kept a track of Tsunade's location so he quickly teleports to her.
Izuna begs her to accept the position of Hokage Tsunade refuses bluntly. During this time, they come across a battered Fourth Raikage and his group. They were ambushed while on a mission and a bounty hunter squad is desperately chasing them. One of Raikage's old friend desperately needs medical attention which only Tsunade can provide. But Tsunade refuses his request which angers Raikage who challenges Tsunade to a duel. However, much to Raikage's horror; Izuna accepts the duel in her stead and brutally beats down A in a contest of strength. Out of desperation, A dogeza in front of Tsunade's room for an entire night. Tsunade finally accedes his request and asks Shizune to complete the operation who is almost as skilled as Tsunade herself.
Izuna also takes care of the bounty hunter squad and asks A to fork out a hefty sum for his services. Later, he is able to convince Tsunade to return to village by the mention of Naruto and his newly born sister.
Meanwhile, Izuna receives an important S-Rank mission to infiltrate Kiri. Konoha has a suspicion that someone is controlling the riots in Kiri behind the scene and this may lead to a potential Fourth Shinobi War. Izuna accepts the mission and disguises himself as a Yuki clan member. During this time, he comes across an injured Kimimaro who just escaped the slaughter of his entire clan. Izuna takes him under his wings and infiltrates Kiri. While on his way, he meets the Mei Terumi, the daughter of the head of the Terumi clan; one of the leading clans of Kiri.
Izuna saves her from assassination by demonstrating his high skills in Ice release which convinces Mei and the rest. He joins Terumi clan as a guard and performs missions for them for three years while investigating the situation of Kiri, training Kimimaro and developing his own Kekkai Tota. During this time, he gets closes to Mei and also gains a friend Zengetsu Hozuki from the Hozuki clan. Izuna and the rest of the group is tasked with an important mission to recapture a resurrected Six-tails and seal it in a jinchuruki.
During the capture mission, the group is attacked by members from the opposite faction. The notable members among the enemy faction being Kisame Hoshigaki, and Mangetsu Hozuki.
Izuna easily overwhelms Kisame while Zengetsu refuses any aid from Izuna in his fight against Mangetsu. In the end, both sides are evenly matched, Zengetsu and Mangetsu perishes together dealing a blow to Izuna's heart. He accepts Zengetsu's last request and accepts his Secret Eight Mist Blade which later proves to be a key to one of the ancient ruins in the Mist Sea.
His cover is blown when the main group of reinforcement suffers from a suicidal attack from one of the enemies. Izuna reveals his Susanoo and protects the group.
He bade farewell to Kiri while exploring the ancient ruins which turns out to be the secret location of Ryuchi cave. He finds another sin eye in the records of Ryuchi cave and later return to Konoha.
7) Pre-Cannon Arc
A few more years passes by as Izuna dates Mei who is his current girlfriend. He also mentors Naruto and Sasuke during this time. During this time, the Uchiha clan receive a request for aid from a village in Land of Iron. This village is the supplier of an important medicine to Uchiha clan which helps them retain the functioning of Sharingan despite its stress on eye nerves. Izuna accepts the request and visit the village with Naruto.
In the Howling wolf village, the duo comes across a mutated ancient wolf demonized by Negative chakra. Izuna beats it down to submission and convinces it to sign a summoning contract with him. On his way back to village, Izuna comes across a mysterious figure, and after some scuffles Izuna agrees to co-operate with the figure to collect chakra from tailed beasts.
8) Chunnin exam arc
Tsunade is officially inaugurated as the Fifth Hokage, who later asks him to train some genins. But Izuna denies her request to which Tsunade decides him to become a proctor of the chunnin exam responsible for the genins of all villages much to Izuna's horror. He begrudgingly accepts the position and monitor the chunnin exam. Naruto and Sasuke who freshly graduated from academy to become a genin learns about the chunnin exam. They decide to sneak into the exam to take a look. However, later they are caught red-handed after their scuffle with a Kiri genin.
During the finale of the chunnin exam, Konoha is attacked by Suna shinobis who have partnered with a mysterious force to exact revenge on Konoha for the second shinobi war. Konoha brutally crushes the invaders with a overwhelming advantage. However, the situation overturns with the involvement of Orochimaru who uses Edo-Tensei to reincarnate First and Second Hokage. Izuna is held back by a mysterious figure who is later revealed to be Jigen from Kara much to Izuna's surprise. It is later revealed that Izuna has foiled Kara's plan by interfering multiple times in their plans and hunting down their sleeper agents.
Jigen beats down Izuna like a rag doll and even deal a severe blow to Mei who was unknowingly pregnant at the time. Enraged, Izuna uses his semi-finished Forbidden Jutsu Kekkei Shi dealing a severe blow to Jigen while inflicting self-harm. The jutsu deals severe injuries to Jigen who is later forced to go in sleep to recover. Izuna also suffer severe injuries during the fight and spent next few months in coma. Later, it is revealed that by forcefully utilizing the Kinjutsu he is overloaded his chakra system resulting in various minor untreatable ruptures all over his chakra system. Even the healing factor of wood release and life release is unable to heal it since it is contaminated by a higher form of energy. Izuna only has five years to cure his problem or else only death awaits him.
9) Lies and Deception
A few months later, Izuna wakes up from his coma and leaves Konoha to search a cure for his body. During one such visit, he comes across a peculiar village with strange environment in Valley of Lies. Out of curiosity, Izuna enters the village and comes across a strange situation where the senses of the villagers are confused by a strange flower similar to a genjutsu. He digs out the secret and later finds out that it is remnant of God Tree left behind by Kaguya. One of the remains of the tree has rooted itself in the mountain which later reveals itself as a giant turtle. The chakra tree remains were sucking out the vitality of the Turtle resulting in the later falling in a deep coma. Izuna removes the chakra tree root with small chakra fruits and calms down the giant turtle by beating it up. Everything later reveals out to be a sinister plan orchestrated by a cult which worships an Evil God Kishin. They utilize Jujutsu to curse people and control them. Izuna was one of their targets to allow their God to possess his body.
However, with the help of Sin Seal, Izuna overthrows their attempt to capture him and manage to acquire a chakra seed in the process. Later, he continues to roams through the shinobi world for a few more months to seek a solution.
During one such trip, he comes across a scientist, who offers to aid him with a catch. Izuna accepts the offer but leaves a fail-safe in case of future trouble since he doesn't trust the intentions of the scientist.
Months later, after an unfruitful search Izuna returns to Konoha and prepares to resurrect Minato and Kushina since he has completed the Seal of Reincarnation albeit it took him more than ten years to complete it.
Using a complex sealing formation and a Yin-yang technique Izuna reincarnates Kushina and Minato Infront of his friends and family. He forms a secret organization In-Yo to assist Konoha in battle against powerful beings to prepare for the uncertain future and his eventual absence. Later, Izuna retreats to Shikkotsu Forest to master Six Path Senjutsu in an attempt to cure himself using the healing process of Six-Paths Sage Mode.
