We meet again

I leaned my head against the wall of the elevator. I was happy for Nathan. I was also grateful for the brief distraction that he has given. Though he probably has no idea that he had done so.

He was so excited. I wish I could be in the same boat as he is. Sadly, for the likes of me, happiness comes with such a huge price. 

I took a deep breath and let out a sigh. When the elevator finally came to a stop, I put on a smile as I made it out on the familiar hallway of Zone C4, my old apartel which I had shared with Stella. She was probably still asleep given that it was way too early. I should have gone back to our place a few hours earlier if I did not go for overtime.

But I had to somehow make it up to both Hero and Mary. They would not have fallen in that state if not for me. Yet, when I think about it, if not Hero and Mary, X would have chosen someone else. He would pick either one of the people around me and even worse, he could have chosen Rafael.
