Chapter 18

" Today we will have team battles. The first few rounds of the Vytal festival will be team battles. So we will have practice.We will only have three rounds today and each team will only participate once.

The teams will be generated at random. " Glynda says.

Nova was in Glyndas class while covering his eyes with a sleeping mask.

' Sigh this is so boring. She hadn't taught us anything useful for real life. This is all tournament style rules. '

Nova just slept through most of her class just doing enough to pass which ment getting full marks each time since most of the people here suck.

' Cannon fodder will still be cannon fodder. '

It was time for the last round. The generator stopped and announced the teams.

" Team SLVR vs Team RWBY. " Glynda said.

RWBY were shocked at first since they had to fight Nova but Nova didn't care and just walked to the stage.RWBY followed right after him.

Before the match started Yang had an idea.

" HEY Nova how about a bet? "

" Sure. "

" If we win you have to take of your mask. "

" Hmm alright. " RWBY and JNPR got interested since they never saw his face.

" But if you lose you must eat a dish of my design. " Nova said in a cheerful voice while having an evil glint in his eyes. RWBY on the other hand were shaking from fear. They huddled.

" So should we agree? " Yang asked.

" To see his face we have to trade of our tongues. " Weiss said.

" I really don't want to but seeing his face is very tempting. " Blake said.

" Well it's for one day. We can always wash it away with soap. " Ruby said.

" True. " Weiss said. " But just to be safe let's make it so we have to only taste one. "

" Good call. " Yang said as she shivered.They turned towards Nova.

" Okay we agree however you can only give one dish. " Weiss said.

" Hmm deal. "

They got into position as the clock counted down. The buzzer rung as the match started.

Ruby started off by shooting at Nova who just casually dodged each bullet. As he was dodging Blake and Weiss joined in attacking Nova from his right and left.

As their weapons were getting closer Nova just twisted his body to dodge their strikes before bending his back to dodge Ruby coming in with a flying kick and then back flipping avoid Yangs punch which created a small hole in the arena.

Blake rushed in with her weapon to try and hit Nova but he dodged each strike.Weiss fired ice spears at him but he dodged each one.

" Why is Nova only dodging? " Jeanne asked.

" He's analysing his oppentents." Rin said.Jeanne looked at her." By dodging he's looking for any openings he can exploit. "

" No he's actually just toying with them. " Pyrrha said. The rest looked at her.

" How so? " Jeanne asked.

" Look at him. " They looked at Nova dodging each attack without a trace of worry on his face. " He's dodging for the sake of it. You can see it on his face. He's not even serious yet."

They looked shocked by this but then they remembered when Nova fought that army of Grimm at initiation.

' Sigh they are good however beating them simple. Let's finish this. '

As they came in to attack at Nova paried each one sending them back as he stood there.The audience were shocked as they thought he would diffently be hit by those attacks.

Team RWBY got up and starred at Nova who just looked at them with a bored look.

' Lets start with Weiss. '

" You know I was looking forward to fighting you Weiss but your sword skills are sub par. "

The audience looked shocked at Novas comment while Weiss looked furious.Glynda though still had her poker face on.

" How dare you!! " Weiss said as she launched herself at Nova who just stood there. Weiss boosted her speed with her semblance and attacked but Nova dodged each one before kicking her in the gut.

Weiss flew away from Nova as she bounced on the ground before using sword to stop herself.

" Like I said. Sub par. "

Weiss looked furious as she she used her semblance to make ice lances.

" Wait Weiss he wants you to do this!! " Ruby yelled as she figured out Novas plan but it was to late as Weiss fired.

Nova looked bored before bringing out his black blade and spun his sword around before charging in.

He destroyed the first one and spun around destroying the second one. He then jumped and destroyed three more lances before landing on the ground destroying the rest.

Weiss looked shocked as her attacks had no effect on Nova. The audience were the same as they didn't think that he could destroy them.

After the last one Nova said nothing as rushed at Weiss who was still in shock as Nova appeared right in front of her. He then jumped up delivering a slash and as he fell down he slashes two more times before giving one final slash.

Weiss's aura broke as she fell to the floor.

" Weiss Schnne is out of the match. "

Nova looked at the rest of team RWBY and taunted them to attack. Of course Yang got angry and rushed in with eyes turning red.As she rushed in with punches Nova just dodged all of them.

' I swear getting her angry would mean death to anyone else. However I still don't understand how no one can see a easy it is to predict her attacks!!

Sigh Why is almost every character in this show stupid or stupid for the sake of the plot.'

Nova dodged another punch before kneeling her gut. Yang spit some saliva from her mouth from the force. Nova then spun around and kicked her away.

Blake come in after that and attacked him with her weapon. He dodged and immediatly after Ruby came in and attacked with her scythe.

Blake and Ruby teamed up on Nova. Blake used her clones as distractions while Ruby used her semblance to try and get a hit on Nova. However Nova dodged their attacks until he got his scythe. He then used it to cut through Blake's clones and block Ruby attacks while pushing her back.He then returned his scythe to inventory.

It looked like they were backing him into a corner but Novas facial expression stayed the same. When Ruby came in with another swing using her semblance Nova dodged before disarming her of weapon and kicked her into a wall.

" Ruby Rose is out due to her aura being under 20%. "

Nova tossed her weapon at her as she caught it. Nova then focused his attention to Blake who rushed at him with her clones.

Her clones attacked Nova with swords. But Nova could see which one was a clone and which was real so he dodged the real Blake while simutainiously destroying her clones.

He then dodged a strike to the head by the real one.

' First stance: Black tortoise.'

He then punched her in the gut blowing her away and into a wall. Her aura shattered as she slid down the wall.

" Blake Belladona is out due to her aura shattering. "

Yang was the last one as she stood there in her stance. Nova just waited. Yang then rushed at him with fast punches.

Nova countered all of them while Yang started using combos and fakes. Nova through them however and dodged each one which pissed of Yang.

Yang then turned super saiyan as she then rushed at him with increased speed. Nova didn't falter as kept dodging. He played along to Yangs attacks before Yang decided to end this.

' Here it comes. '

Yang then focused her aura into her fist and punched at Nova. As the punch came closer Nova used his right hand redirected the punch. The aura from the punch caused a gust of wind which tire up the arena.

Yang stumbled from shock but managed to get up. She got ready to attack but,

" Yang Xiao Long is out due to aura being under 20%. "

Yang stopped in her tracks at that.

' We lost. Goddammit. '

The rest of team RWBY were also dejected as well. Team JNPR stayed out of it since they had nothing to say.After all Novas aura meter was still at 100%.
