Lori rubbed her eyes and fought back a yawn. She crossed her arms on the round table in front of her and leaned her chin on her hands.
"Good grief, girlfriend, if you're going to be awake all night anyway, you should at least be having some fun. Why don't you put yourself out of your misery and just sleep with the man?" Wesley Iversen breezed into Lori's office in a cloud of lavender gauze.
"Wes, go be perky somewhere else." Lori glowered at her friend. "If you didn't have that DNA analysis with you, I'd just have to kick your butt out that third-story window over there." Since the window in Lori's office was only about six inches wide, they both understood the futility of the threat and grinned weakly at each other in understanding. Unfortunately, to Lori's way of thinking, Wes refused to be diverted.
