Chapter 49

The door swung closed behind Ismene, and Lysandra turned away to face Cale. Vasu stood between them, unsure whom to follow.

"Cale," Lysandra whispered, taking hold of his hands, "I'll see you tomorrow, okay? In the morning, at your studio. Is that okay?"

"I would say so," Cale said, "but I've never seen where you live, and now that you don't have to meet with that Remiel Collingwood boy anymore, maybe you should invite me over." His voice sank to a whisper, and he offered her a faint smile.

"Maybe I should," Lysandra agreed. "But I don't know if tomorrow would be such a good idea. I don't really want them to know I've been seeing you while I was still engaged to... him." She got caught between calling him Remiel and calling him Dragon in the middle of the word, and couldn't get it out.

"Okay," Cale said. "Studio tomorrow, your place someday."

"Right." Lysandra nodded. "Thanks," she added in a whisper.
