"Wait here," he instructed, holding up his hand.

"Is everything all right?" I asked, concerned. 

He nodded, smiling. "I feel great. I'm just here as a chaperone." Inside the door was a floral arch. "I'm the lucky one who is stopping everyone for pictures."

I nodded, breathing a sigh of relief, glad that it wasn't anything more.

"Okay," he smiled, tilting his head to the side. "You can go in now." Then he lowered his hand, letting us go.

Inside the door, another woman held up her hand. "Hold it right there and smile."

We did as she asked and then a photographer took our picture. 

"Okay. You can go now," the woman said once the photographer was finished. "Enjoy the dance!"

"Thank you," Dakota replied, smiling.

Then we walked into a magical wonderland. Balloons, streamers, and multi-colored decorations adorned the gym, which had been magically transformed. Students were already dancing and enjoying the evening.
