Conquering Fear

Bryce Bernardo POV

Nagulat ako nang makita ko si Marian. Ang aga naman niyang gumising I thought she were sleeping right now.

I faced her. "Do you like this?" Sabay turo ko sa niluto ko.

She nodded at me. "Yup. Actually it's look enticing." She said in grimace.

I just smiled at her. "Thank you, by the way nakita mo ba si Stephen?" Tanong ko.

Umiling naman siya sabay subo sa pastang niluto ko. I saw her mesmerized by the taste of it.

"It's...delicious Bryce. Keep it up." He said in grimace.

I smiled at her. "Thank you for the compliment." I said.

Pagkatapos naming kumain hinanap ko na si Stephen. He told me na mag ja jogging kami pero 'di natuloy kasi 'di ko siya nakita. Pumunta ako sa SC park at nakita ko siyang naka-upo sa isang bench, nakatulala. Pumunta ako sa gawi niya.

"Hey bro." I uttered.

He goes his look to me. "Bryce? What's up?" He replied.

I sat beside on him. "It's good and...nice." I smiled at him.

"Good to hear that bro." He responded.

I just smiled at him. Nakita ko naman ang pilit niyang ngiti. What's happened to him? There's something unusual in him.

"By the way bro, while I'm walking through you I noticed your in dazed. What's happened? Come on, spill up." I said.

He just snooted at me. "Nothing bro." Tipid niyang sabi.

"Come on Stephen we're bestfriends now. We don't need to hide our secrets anymore." I smiled at him.

He face-palmed at me. "My girlfriend." He paused.

"What's happened to your girlfriend?" I asked worriedly.

He shook his head in disdain. "She broked up with me." He whimpered.

I know it's hard for him to moved on but it is the only way he can step forward to the next chapter.

I patted his back. "It's okay bro. Just let it out." I said.

He just laughed at me. "Thank you bro. I know I'm acting so weird but...thank you." He smiled at me.

I smiled at him back. "It's my pleasure bro." I replied.

After we talked some stuff. I found myself through him. I found out that we're in the same situation. Naalala ko pa nong she broked up with me.

Nandito ako ngayon sa isang restaurant, waiting for her. I called her many times but she didn't respond. It's been 2 hours still waiting for her to come here but all of it was in vanished. I decided to stood up and leave but I saw her walking at the foyer. She goes to me.

Para akong nabunutan ng tinik nang makita ko ang presensiya niya.

"Babe. Y-You're here." I said in surprised.

I saw her snooted at me. "I'm not staying long here I just want to give this to you." She gives me the ring I gave her when I proposed her a month ago.

I was in turmoil why she give it back to me. May mali sa kaniya eh.

I faced her. "What's wrong babe?" I asked in confusion.

"I am breaking up with you Bryce." She muttered.

My heart shattered when I heard her throwing that words to me.

I faced her. "Why? May nagawa ba akong kasalanan?" I asked eagerly.

She just gave the ring to me then run. Naiwan ako ditong nakatunganga kaya simula nong gabi na 'yun I told me self not to love again.

Back to the main shit. Nandito pala kami ngayon sa zipline. Ayoko sanang pumunta dito kasi nga may fear of heights ako but they coerced me to joined with this shit.

"Bryce ikaw na ang susunod." Marian notified me.

Kaya ko ba? Dumungaw ako sa baba and my heart beats fast nong makita ko kong gaano kataas ang babagsakan ko if ever mahulog ako. It's 6 stories building tall. Kaya ko ba 'to?

"Bro, you will be the next. Just always remember what I've said to you earlier. Conquer your fear." He reminded me.

I just nodded at him even though my mind still saying 'back off', kaya ko 'to! Dumungaw ulit ako sa baba and it's quite frightening. Hoo! Kaya mo 'to Bryce!

Pumunta ako sa operators at sinuotan nila ako ng mga protective paraphernalia's. A cable wire or something they put on my body. Kaya ko 'to! Now, say goodbye to your fear of heights Bryce.

A man instructed me what should I supposed to do. I just listen at him pagkatapos niya akong in instruct pumunta ako sa edge para makapag takeoff na ako.

"Are you ready sir?" A man asked me.

I just nodded at him. "Yes kuya."

"Okay, I count one to three then I push you, okay?" He said.

Tumango ulit ako.

"Okay, one..." He uttered.

I heaved a sigh.

"Two..." He proceed.

Ito na! Itutulak na niya ako. Hoo! Wish me luck.

"Three!" Then he pushed me.

At first I feel scared but later on while I'm flighting I feel confident and amused. I shout in grimace. The scenery was so very spectacular views I'd ever seen. Nang malapit na ako sa stop point parang gusto ko pang lumipad. Sarap palang lumipad. I forget my burdens at just a moment.

Pagkatapos naming mag zip line pumunta naman kami sa sky bike. It's seemed so risky. Ayokong subukan 'yan.

"Next stop, sky bike." Marian uttered at us.

"Ayoko niyan mukhang delikado. Imagined you trot at that cable wire? No! It's ridiculous." I said in discontent.

They chuckled at me. "Are you joking Bryce? Aren't you? Hindi ka naman mahuhulog niyan eh. Ang tibay kaya ng kable." She insisted.

I crossed my arms at them. "Ayoko pa rin." I said.

I heard them sighed at me. "Pabayaan mo na 'yang kaibigan mo Stephen. Let's just enjoy." Sabi ni Marian.

Nakita ko naman ang kaibigan kong tumawa sa sinabi ni Marian. Nauna na itong maglakad kaya naiwan ang kaibigan ko.

"Be bruise bro, how she will like you if you're prioritizing your fear. Come on, be courageous man." He encouraged me.

I gazed those people were riding at it. They were look happy and amused but what if the wire got gashed. No! I don't wanna die.

"Bro, I can't." I said in anguish.

He shook his head. "No! You can." He said then leave.

Pumunta siya kay Marian at ako naman naiwang mag-isa ditong nakatunganga. The heck! How can I trot it well. Is it safe? O baka biglang maputol yung kable. I cannot imagined myself fell in the ground. I shook. I need to conquer my fear.

Humakbang ako papunta sa gawi nila. Kaya mo 'to Bryce. Conquer your fear.

Napansin naman ako ni Stephen.

"Hey man." Baling sa akin ni Stephen.

I greeted him back. "What's up? Have you changed your mind?" He asked eagerly.

Nagdadalawang isip ako kung tatango ba ako o hindi pero tumango ako sa kaniya.

"Great because you will be the next after Marian's turn." He said teasingly.

I shouted at him in awestruck. "What?! No way! You first." I replied.

He grinned at me. "Just kidding. I will be the next, after me it's your turn." He explained.

I nodded at him. "Okay bro." I replied.

Tinignan ko siyang nagbibisekleta sa himpapawid. 'Di ba siya natatakot? Bakas sa mukha niya ang excitement.

Pagkatapos niya it's my turn. Damn! Tinignan ko yung kable. How can I be prudent at that cable wires. I sighed in disdain.

"Kuya wa'g mo akong itulak ah. I will fired you 'pag ginawa mo 'yun. Understood?" I said authoritatively.

Tumango naman siya. "Opo sir." Tipid niyang sagot.

I just forced my smile at him. In instruct ulit ako ng mga do's and don'ts. Tumango lang ako kay kuya na nag orient sa akin. Pagkatapos kinabitan na nila ako.

"Tandaan mo 'yung sinabi ko sir." Pag-uulit ni kuya.

I just nodded at him even though nanginginig na talaga ako.

Sumakay na ako sa bisekleta and it's quite scary. Pagkasakay ko sinunod ko lang ang sinabi ni kuya. Pumadyak lang ako hanggang sa natapos na rin nang wala akong naramdamang kahit anong kaba while I'm trotting the bicycle.

Stephen high five at me. "Great bro, you conquered your fear." He said amusedly.

I just smiled at him. Bumaba na kami at sinalubong ako ni Marian pagkababa namin. "Nice Bryce." Tipid niyang sabi.

I just gave her a smile. Pagkatapos naming mag zip line at sky bike bumalik na kami sa hotel para umuwi na. Pagkasakay ko sa corvette ko sumakay na rin naman sila.

"Bili muna tayo ng souvenir." Sabi niya.

Stephen agreed on her.

Wala akong nagawa kaya pumunta kami sa souvenir shop at bumili kami ng mga kung ano-ano. T-shirt, key chains, wallets, at bracelets. Pagkatapos naming bumili umalis na kami at bumalik sa hotel.

Maya-maya nakarating na rin kami sa hotel. Bumaba sila while ako naiwan dito sa loob. I remember how I'm being coward this past years but now, I conquered it all. I even overcome my fear of heights. This day was the best day ever. Thanks to my bestfriend.

Pagkatapos kong mag-isip bumaba na ako sa kotse ko at pumunta ako sa gawi nila.

"Hey, so pano? Alis na tayo dito?" I asked them.

Tumango naman si Stephen but I saw Marian feel sad about it. Napamahal na siguro siya sa Tagaytay.

Bumaling naman si Stephen sa kaniya. "Hey, you okay?" Tanong niya kay Marian.

Tumango naman si Marian. "I will miss this place. Sayang no? Aalis ka kasi Stephen eh. Kung sana matagal ka pa dito..." She said.

Stephen patted her back. "It's okay, I'll back here next month." He replied.

I saw her enlightened. "Really? Aren't you joking right? Are you?" She asked instantly.

Stephen chuckled at her. "Yup, I'll promise you that." He replied.

Ang sarap nilang tignan para lang silang magkapatid. Kahit na bago palang namin siyang nakilala ang gaan na ng loob namin sa kaniya ni Marian. Lalo na ako he gave a lot of advices to me. He's a man of perception. He's nice and a good friend also. Siya lang ang nakapag paniwala sa akin na puwede palang e vanquished ang mga fears mo. I really stan him.
