Logan’s return

"Uncle, I am back!" Logan entered the resplendent castle while holding his arm out.

"Logan!" Lisa shouted in horror. 'How is he still alive? He was killed in front of her daughter when she was captured? Who is he calling uncle?

"Do you know him?" Dexter asked who was standing next to Lisa.

"No! I haven't met him but I have heard a lot about him! Who is he?"

"Really? Dexter asked as he could not understand, what she meant by heard about him but she did not even know that he was William's nephew.

"He has been abroad with his grandfather after his mother passed away and never came back until now. He is William's nephew, his sister Rebecca's elder son." Dexter said.

"Is that so?" Lisa looked at the young man with a complicated expression.

"Why is he even here now when we are about to get attacked by our enemy?"

"I don't know but he does look cunning and scheming. What if he is our enemy?" Lisa muttered under her breath.

"No way! How could that be?"

It was all because of him that her daughter suffered several days in that horrible place and even now she was not fully out of that trauma. He is alive and he doesn't look simple. Thankfully, her daughter is already married now and she hoped that her son-in-law would protect her from this monster. She had doubts that it might be him who was involved at that time.

��If he is not our enemy, then is he involved with them?"

"What are you muttering to yourself? Don't you think we should give them some space as they have not seen each other for a long time." Dexter asked.

"No!" Lisa shouted.

Dexter was surprised by the way Lisa was behaving from the time Logan entered the castle.

"How are you, Logan? Are your grandparents doing well? And why have you come back so suddenly?" William asked while hugging his nephew, Logan.

Before he could realize what had happened, a sharp needle poked at his back and he lost consciousness. Logan held William and pushed him onto the sofa nearby.

"My grandfather is doing good, Uncle but he doesn't wish you well after all you helped my father's killer escape," Logan said with a crooked smile.

Dexter became cautious and raised his weapon to attack Logan. He also signaled his men to stay on alert and attack at once. But his men did not respond as they were all already knocked out by Logan's men. Most of them surrendered and few who fought lost their lives or were seriously injured.

"I am Logan, my dear father-in-law. We could finally meet, at last, I have heard a lot about you from your daughter. It will be a waste of time trying to signal your men as this whole castle is under my control now." Logan said while moving towards him.

"Stay away from us! I don't have a son-in-law like you. I have only one daughter and she is already married. My son-in-law is more handsome and brave unlike you who sneaked in and attacked us."

"Sneak and attack? Dexter, it looks like you have lost your mind after you decided to retire. When did people like us even worry about how we do our work? We kill without blinking our eyes and attack when our opponent is least prepared. And by the way, so what if she is already married? Her heart always belongs to me and she only loves me."

"Don't try to compare us with the likes of you. Now retreat before the soldiers arrest you for treason and spend your whole life in prison." Lisa warned.

"Soldiers? Where? I don't see even one! I intercepted all messages that my uncle sent to the base and replied to every single one of them personally. The troops which were sent here for your protection belong to me. Oh, dear! Looks like you were all fooled today and did not even realize what had happened to you yet."

Dexter and Lisa understood their escape would be impossible now, especially with William who is lying on the floor unconscious. After looking at their impassive faces Logan said,

"Do not worry. I have no intentions to harm my future-in-laws, all I want is my uncle and his power to achieve my goals. I will make my men escort you both and your team safely outside this city. Have a safe journey."

Logan bent down and bowed while pointing his hand towards the entrance door. But instead of leaving they looked at William and moved towards him. One of Logan's men came before them and tried to push Dexter towards the door. Before his hand could touch Dexter, Logan chopped that handoff using his sharp blade.

"Did anyone want to defy my orders? I have promised my in-laws that they would be escorted safely and with respect!"

"We are not your in-laws and remember we will never be. I will protect my daughter with my life and would never allow her to get hurt once again." Lisa roared.

He got irritated after he heard what Lisa said. He did not expect Jennifer to react in a wild way after she believed that he was dead. He was away at that time as his grandfather's health deteriorated and when he was back to the Golden Poison, they told him that she was rescued. The growling noise from the injured guy made his mood rot even more. So he shouted at his men,

"Remove him from my sight, right this moment! He is spoiling my castle with his dirty blood. Make sure that he doesn't see the sunlight tomorrow!"

A few of his men came forward and lifted the poor guy up to bring him away. As if he just realized why Derek and Lisa were not leaving, he immediately changed his tone to a sweeter voice and with a smile, he said,

"Oh! Do not worry about my Uncle! He is not dead yet and I won't kill my own uncle, will I? I injected him with a paralyzing drug, he would be fine with me here. You can now go home and make preparations for my marriage with your daughter. Once I become the king, I will definitely need a queen next to me. Escort them."

After hearing that William was not yet dead, they both relaxed a bit. For Dexter, this was his first time getting defeated by someone so easily. He really got impressed with Logan but when he realized through the conversation that he hurt his daughter made him angry and wanted to chop his head off.

"Do you have a problem with your hearing? How many times do you want us to repeat that my daughter is already married and we would never want a son-in-law like you? A person who is harming his own family for selfish desires and ambitions is definitely unfit for any daughter to marry."

Dexter yelled and pulled out her weapon while moving forward to attack Logan. But Lisa held him back as the situation was not in their favor.

"Let me go back, he hurt my daughter," Dexter muttered while breathing hard.

"Listen to me, we have a capable son-in-law who is much better than him. He went to his lair and destroyed his fortress single-handedly. It won't take him minutes to bring this evil person down when he knows what happened to our daughter. For now, we need to leave. Let us go."

Lisa held Dexter's hand and walked out of the castle.

When Dexter reached the door, he turned around and said, "Do not get too strong-headed that you defeated me. It won't take me a minute to chop off that muddy head of yours. I am leaving today not because I am afraid to fight you but you have involved my daughter. And I will make sure, she is the one who will exact revenge for what you did to her."

"Dexter, that's enough of your ego talk. Let us go…" Lisa murmured.

"Still, these days, youngsters are really strong and skilled. I might have liked him if only he did not take the wrong route and hurt my daughter." Dexter said.

"Stop!..."

"No…" He paused and looked at her with hurtful eyes.

"You did not tell me exactly how you know about Logan or why is he involved with my daughter, and what is his claim that Jenny is in love with him?" Dexter asked while letting go of Lisa's hand.

He was angry that he did not know about his daughter's past. He just could not digest that she was in love with such a horrible person. He got disappointed with her choice as there were so many handsome, good looking, and skilled people who are capable to be his son-in-law. Or maybe only his current son-in-law can satisfy him!

"I am sorry. I did not know much about that until one day I received a message from the person whom I arranged to tail our daughter; he sent me coordinates of some location. I traced it and found out that our daughter had entered Golden poison headquarters."

"What?"

"I will tell you everything on our way back. I don't think this is the right place to discuss all those details. Let us leave this place first, please." Lisa pleaded.

"Ok." Even though he was angry at his wife, he could not let her plead even to him.
