The Return

I had a bit of a pep in my step as I made my way to the 𝓐𝓭𝓿𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓾𝓻𝓮𝓻'𝓼 𝓖𝓾𝓲𝓵𝓭. Even though Rockfort wasn't interested and kicked me out, I at least got to stick it to Snarf one last time. However, I could go a lifetime without seeing another Dragon love child in person.

The 𝓐𝓭𝓿𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓾𝓻𝓮𝓻'𝓼 𝓖𝓾𝓲𝓵𝓭 was a three story wooden building that stuck out among the much smaller structures in the 𝓣𝓸𝔀𝓷 𝓸𝓯 𝓦𝓪𝓵𝓯𝓻𝓮𝔂. The sun was not directly over head yet, so I was still on time to arrive for my midday appointment with Brianna. The sky was very clear today, but I saw a few darker clouds further away towards the south.

𝘐 𝘸𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘪𝘧 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘳𝘢𝘪𝘯? 𝘐 𝘩𝘰𝘱𝘦 𝘚𝘯𝘢𝘳𝘧 𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘧.

Hoping my gear was water resistant I entered the 𝓐𝓭𝓿𝓮𝓷𝓽𝓾𝓻𝓮𝓻'𝓼 𝓖𝓾𝓲𝓵𝓭. I had prepared myself for a collection of rough looking people eyeing me with disdain, but instead I was greeted with an almost bank like atmosphere. I saw some employees behind a counter interacting with customers errr... Adventurers. From what I could hear they were talking about details of various quests. For some reason the idea of disciplined and professional Adventurer's gathering information in an orderly fashion before a quest was not what I expected.

As I was having my dilemma I noticed Brianna waving at me from behind the counter. Out of habit I looked behind me to check if there was anyone. No one was behind me and when I turned back I could of sworn she was recovering from face palming herself.....must of been my imagination.

I continued living in a state of utter denial as I made my way over to her. The people around her stifling their laughter were definitely unrelated to me. For the sake of my remaining dignity I am going with that at least.

"I see you were able to get new gear to replace that atroc... unique clothing you had before."

"....."

"Ehem. W-well it is good you have some real armor now. Did you get it at Rockfort's?"

"Y-yes...D-draft hide."

"Oh! It must be from the Draft you killed the other day."

Brianna was making small talk as she led me to the exam room. It seems she wasn't kidding about not giving me any details about the exam. We arrived at a door after a few moments and she turned around to look at me.

"Here we are. Your first trial awaits inside. I will be waiting for you here after you are done to take you to the next trial if you pass. Otherwise I will lead you back to the lobby. I wish you good luck."

"T-thanks."

She opened the door to the room and all I saw was pitch black darkness. I hesitated from entering, I mean who goes into a pitch black room just because a pretty lady they don't really know tells them to?!?

"U-uhhh...."

Before I could retort or change my mind I felt a push on my back that forced me into the room. I couldn't even respond before I heard the door close shut behind me. With that pure darkness surrounded me. It felt reminiscent of when I died and was forced to answer all those questions. The all encompassing darkness and silence.

As I stood there wondering what to do next a bright white light lit up the room. It was so bright I was forced to close my eyes, and when I opened them again I found myself in a forest clearing. Suddenly my heart started beating fast and I could feel my palms getting sweaty.

𝘋𝘪𝘥𝘯'𝘵 𝘐 𝘬𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘺𝘰𝘶?!? 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘶𝘤𝘬?!?

That's right, the only thing in the clearing was me and the pervert Dragon love child abomination.... Snarf .
