Health freak

"Finish him off." Xia typed nonchalantly and tossed his phone away. If anyone had looked at his expression then as he stared out of Chen's bedroom window, they would have pitied the petite girl sleeping unaware in his arms.

But the petite girl, totally unaware, snuggled closer to him, dreaming about very many different things.

The next morning, Yu Chen was sitting on the couch staring at the television with a bowl of ice-cream in her hand as Si Xia was making breakfast in the kitchen. "Ice-cream first thing in the morning?" Xia spoke as he walked into the living room with two bowls in his hand. "So what? Are you gonna leave me just because I don't eat healthy?" Chen replied with a smile, making space for Xia on the couch.

Si Xia laughed as he sat down and pulled her onto his lap saying, "Don't you know how big of a health freak I am? I can ditch you any day for a bowl of salad." Yu Chen laughed and fake pouted as she kept the ice-cream away and picked the breakfast Si Xia had made.

"Did you know? There was apparently a very bad accident last night in the city." Chen spoke, looking towards the TV. Xia nodded and turned his attention towards the television which was showing footage from the accident. "What happened?" he asked.

Chen: "Some drunk driver slammed into a delivery truck I think."

Xia: "That's like the usual occurrence every day. What's so special about this one?"

Chen: "I don't really know. But I think the drunk driver was some high profile guy and they're trying to hush it all up."

Si Xia raised an eyebrow, "Why?" "Because they're not disclosing the names of the people involved. And look at the drunk guy's car, he must have been loaded! And . . . I'm pretty sure one of them is dead." Chen said, staring at the TV.

Her head suddenly snapped in the direction of Xia and she opened her mouth as though wanting to say something, but she must have thought better of it. Chen turned her attention towards her food and both of them dug in.

One month later . . . . .

April had almost come and with it, had come spring. Yu Chen was enjoying the sun as she sat on the roof of her building, her laptop open in front of her.

She was squinting at the screen and typing away, her whole focus on her laptop, when suddenly her phone rang. Chen jumped, which led to the juice beside her spilling all around her. "Bloody hell!!" she claimed as she hurriedly stood up with her laptop, so as to not spoil her clothes.

She then picked up her mobile and frowned upon seeing an unknown number. Yu Chen was vary as she picked up the call.

"Hello. Good afternoon. Am I speaking to Miss Yu Chen?" a sweet voice asked from the other end. Chen frowned, stared at her phone and said, "Yes."

"Oh, that's perfect then!" the voice exclaimed. "I am Yun Wei from Barken and associates. . . . . "

Barken and associates, that was the name of the venture capitalists she had sent her proposal to, a few days back.

Getting no reply, Chen had lost all hope of hearing from them. So, this call came as a really big surprise to her.
