"Oh, it very much is. It is a pleasure to do business with your shop!"
Taking a look at the wares placed on the table, I take them all into my storage ring with one swipe on my hand. As the manager hands two remaining bags to me, they end up in the same place as well. The only thing that I attach directly to my belt is the money pouch. In the end, I still need to prove my earlier words!
"Oh, before I forget, can I count on your escort to the shoop doors? I'm worried that the annoying man that tried to stir the trouble might keep doing so if I were to leave only with my fiancee."
While I wouldn't mind any additional chaos to pay Baxhar back for his previous actions, that would cause this shop clerks opinion on me to deteriorate. I'm not sure if Leila will be able to successfully receive the favours from them that I gained right now, so keeping their sympathy towards my party is far more important than slapping this bastard face!
"Of course sir! It would be my pleasure!"
Already approaching the doors by my first mention of leaving, the manager instantly opened the doors and hold them out for us. Taking my time to slowly walk outside the room, I couldn't help but back in curious stares of the crowd amassed in the shop.
"They are out! Comprehend them!"
As soon as I placed my foot on the proper shopping floor, I could see Baxhar hand pointing at me while several guards rushed towards me. Surprisingly enough, this esteemed guest that attempted to interfere with my affairs earlier, was nowhere to be seen!
"What the hell is the meaning of this!?"
Before the guards managed to get close enough to even touch me, the manager's shout instantly glued them to the ground. Looking at their uniform robes and equipment, it was obvious that they were actually the bouncers in this shop!
"Sir, we were told by the young master Baxhar that there was a thief in the shop daring to outright claim that he would steal our master's treasure! Even if this is an esteemed guest of yours, we need to at least check the situation!"
Oh? So they weren't this shop guardians, but direct servants of the shop's owner? That would explain the quality of the robes they are wearing!
"And who told you that he will steal from here? Are you calling me a liar now?"
Standing up to the guards, the manager blocked the guards from reaching either me or Eve with his own body.
"I did a whole transaction with them, and I didn't call for the master because of those esteemed sirs request to not cause a scene! If you want to hold them here, you better summon our Master himself!"
What the actual fuck? Can't we just go out already? I came here to do the shopping, not to play a part in some dramas! If it won't get resolved soon, I will make sure to pay this bastard back!
"There is no need to summon me if I'm already here."
Just as I thought that the situation would only continue to escalate, a powerful yet calm voice resounded right behind my back. Turning around, I saw a middle-aged man with simple robes, coming down the stairs. Despite quite a bit of distance between us, everyone on the shopping floor could clearly hear every single word that flowed out of his mouth.
"Can someone explain to me what is the problem?"
As if using this strange ability to speak clearly and disregard the distance was an upfront affront to his dignity, the shop's master came to the centre of the events before saying his piece.
"We arrived as soon as this young master reported that some kind of clever thief was going to rob the shop with some kind of unheard of guise. That's why we insisted on checking the content of this guest storage rings. But before we even explained our intention coming from our standard orders, we were blocked by the shop manager!"
Cupping their hands in front of their chests, both of the guards bowed slightly. The 'young master' title obviously referred to the Baxhar standing nearby with a fulfilled smile on his face.
"So that's the case… Young master over there, can you vouch for the claim that his man is indeed a thief?"
As the shop owner turned to Baxhar I could see his smile wavering for a bit, before he stepped forward with confidence.
"Esteemed master, you need to just look at him! It's clear that he is a mere mortal who came to the shop with his storage ring only, yet now he is leaving the shop with a gold pouch hanging out from his belt! If that was any other man, I would simply ask him to explain himself to prevent any commotion in this great shop, yet it happens that I know who he really is! While You…"
"That's not what I asked you. Can you vouch for your claim?"
With shop owner voice turning slightly cold, even his use of honorific disappeared. At this point, I can only guess that Baxhar has some kind of strange constitution, that attract the trouble his way! Maybe if he hid his haughty attitude and learned how to read the situation… No, I don't think there is any way for him to change for better! Only an old, good face-slap right six centimetres under his eye socket could do!
"Of course! I can vouch for it with whatever it takes!"
