Grey Skies

"Xie! Help me out with the door! " Turning from the trunk of the car, I rushed towards Mirana as she held a box of appliances. "Thanks, sweety. "

Slipping for a moment as I almost thought kt to be normal to get praised by her, I stood and watched as she opened the front door to our new home. Its dull and lifeless exterior was dim enough for even me to notice how old it was.

When I walked inside, my initial reaction was amazment as the inside was completely white and white from the outside. Setting the box down by the door, I headed to check out the rest of the house. Walking up the steps into the second floor, I turned at the edge of the railing and smiled as the top was completely covered in a car and warm color.

Heading into the rooms, I stopped at the second one and admired how spacious and free it felt. Touching the air with my hands, I smiled and exhaled as my eyes filled with tears from the amount of light I could fill in here.

"Xie? " Turning sharply as Amy's voice pulled me away from my daydream, out of habit, I looked down and reilized I still had my shoes on.

Taking them off, Amy swarmed me and knocked me down to the floor. Thinkinh she had lost her mind, I froze when her soft crying shiffled from my chest. Hugging me and shaking wkth her every breath, she was more torn up about Mia and how I was doing.

Covering her head with my hands, I comforted her as I told her there wasn't anything either of us could have done. Even as I said it, I knew in my heart that I didn't try hard enough.

Regardless, I put on a brave face and patted her head as she met my gaze.

"We were so much happier before... What happened... "

Holding, I got up and walked over to the door and locked it from the inside. Turning around as a helpless Amy sat still, I walked over to her and collapsed onto the bade of her legs and closed my eyes.

"... Xie."

Pushing towards the ambient pain I still after losing Mia, my emotions were a mess as I couldn't find a proper way to process my grief. Especially when I have stopped searching for Rin all together.

Had it been two months ago, I would have gone as far as lock the teo of them up to keep them safe. Now, I've lost them both and my life as I knew it was the only thing that had remained despite the new and strange changes.

After me and Amy worked out what troubles us, she got up and opened the door as she went to get somthing to eat from one of the boxes of snacks we brought with us. Sitting against the windowsill, I looked down at the front garden while staring at a patch of dim colored roses.

Exhausting a breath, I used my my power subconsciously and gave it a command while pondering about my memories of Rin.

Taking shape, I turned and jumped as it noticed the door and rushed outside. Chasing after it, it rushed past Amy's legs. Walking around her as I told her I'd be back.

Chasing it outside as the front door was slightly opened, I found myself outside. Turning as Mirana looked and smiled s shse was planting and fixing up the garden. Nodding, I spotted it going around the house and followed it.

As I rounded the corner to the backyard, I stopped when a slight shine caught my eye. Crouching, I picked up a silver bracelet I felt I had seen somewhere before. Heading further in, I spotted the small creature facing an old basement with a relatively new lock on the door handles.

Stopping to assess the situation, I looked around and spotted a large rock. Using it, I threw it onto the weak wooden doors and break them open.

Climbing down, I covered my mouth as it reeked of a horrible scent. When I reached the bottom, I raised my hand and lit up the inside with my light. Falling backwards almsot instantly as I stared at courpses of people hanging around everywhere.

Turning my head to my right, all sound had escaped my ears as I couldn't believe what my eyes were seeing. Getting up and scrambling towards a sole body apart from he rest as it was laying on the floor while locked up in chains. Using my burning light to rip the chains right off, I turned her and cleared her face as I felt her breathing still.

Almost all bone, I didn't bother to hesitate as I openednthe larges mirror I had ever done with ease and jumped inside without hesitation.

Once at Pira's palace,we worked around the clock to get her back into shape as an array of medicine and high quality herbs were used to treat her injuries across her shoulder and leg. They resembled much like the ones Mia held.

Before long, months passed and I didn't leave her side as my hands and lips had gone numb with every soft pressed kisses I would give to send her the light I held inside. Collapsing frim time to time and I had been pushing myself further beyond my limit as saving her was all that was going through my mind.

As more time passed, I woke up one day with a soft nudge on my arm as if someone was putting pressure up against it. Opening my eyes, I was shocked and blown away when Rin had kissed me without hesitation. Feeling my tears swell up in my eyes, I hugged her as I got onto of her while we showed our affection for one another.

After getting a chance ti finally stop and breathe, I held and touched Rin's soft hands as I told her about Mia. Her saddened look spoke volumes as she didn't really hate her afterall.

"Xie... How much time has passed since I disappeared? " Getting her gaze, I smiled and touched her nose with mine as I turned and looked up.

"About a few weeks... Close to half a month. "

As she heared the news, Rin snuggled close and softly fell asleep while resting her head on my chest.

After Rin's recovery, we walked to the entrence of Pira's palace. I found I could'nt open up a larger mirror like before. Holding hands with Rin, I thanked Pira for all her help. Turning, we crossed over and wound up infornt of our old house.

"Oh! That's right, we moved and don't live here anymore... Hold on. " Opening another mirror, we were about to cross over when Rin stopped me. "Rin? "

Looking at me, she then told me she wanted to go see her parents back home and tell them she was okay.

It then hit me that she still didn't know about what happend to her parents. It kills dme to tell her the truth and after I did, she clenched my hand and didn't let it go no matter what.

Crossing over the mirror, I walked through the front door to oir new home wkth Rin in tow.

It was then after a few days that Ron wanted to find the monster that killed her parents and so many out of revenge. Dotting on what I should do, Ring then convinced me to avenge Mia. Reluctant, I agreed for losing Rin now would be a lethal blow in my life as she was finally with me.
