The Assessment

While Red and his new friends are walking on the pathway, someone called Joya from behind.

???: "Joya!" Shouted of the girl from the back, she also seems to have someone with her.

Red and the other two stop and look for the one who is calling them. Red saw a girl, shoulder length hair, her eyes sharp like a falcon, tall and slender nose and those stiff lips that looks like don't know to smile. Wearing a simple leather cuirass, under it a simple white shirt, a simple leather armguard, a pants that's like a cargo pants and a leather boots. On her waist there is a simple short sword hanging.

Beside the girl there is a boy wearing a black cloak, making his white skinned slightly handsome face stand out more.

They jog toward Red's group. When they just a two steps away from Red's group, Joya jump toward the girl and told them what happened earlier. Red who is watching them, only notice just now that Joya is carrying a pair of dagger that hanging at the back of her waist. Then he thought 'This small girl is a dagger user, huh. Well with that build of her, I think it suits her."

While the three friends are chatting, Rex came near at the Red and introduces his friends to him. The girl's name is Lorelei, good with her sword but not with her words. The boy's name is Adrian, this one is good with attacking magic.

After they finish chattering they proceed to the main building, for registration. The assessment only has a 3 parts, the written exam, combat exam and magic exam.

Red's POV

Red: 'WOW! It's been a while that the author let me do the story telling'

After we get registered, we proceed to the room for taking the exam. There are at least 50 chairs in the room and there is only a little vacant chair left. We wait 15 minutes for the exam to start.

The questions are too easy for me. What I learn from mother is also on the exam. There is this also a stupid question like 'What is the name of the academy' cause most people call the school 'The Academy', which is should be 'Fledglings Adventurer Academy'. Okay guys, let's stand up and clap our hands for that nice naming sense of the author.

We head straight to the field after the written exam, there we can take the combat test and magic test.

The combat test is about fighting the examiner , who looks like a 25 years old man, standing at the arena holding his sword on his right hand, and another instructor who record your performance, in this test you can get 25 points same at magic test but the written exam is 50 points, all in all it 100 points.

The combat exam is progressing fast, before me are my four new friends. Rex goes first, which is get beaten by the examiner only by 3 exchanges, there some weapon rack at the side where you can borrow a weapon if you don't have one. Next to go on the arena is Joya, with is build the examiner have a hard time hitting her at first, but after 8 tries the examiner got little serious. Joya got send out of the arena by taking a kick from the examiner. Adrian goes next, but he is just like Rex, also got treated like a punching bag by the examiner.

Lorelei who is going to fight next looks a little nervous, but when she gets on the arena her aura changed. Her aura looks like mine when I just get started training. I didn't need to wait long for their fight, she rush to the examiner with her sword raised, slashing her sword toward to the examiner from his left to right. The examiner intercepts the sword, slashing his sword from his lower left to upper right. Lorelei is obviously is lacking on strength compared to the examiner. Her sword got send back to her, wanting escape from her numbing arm, but she firmly hold it resulting her butt meeting the cold ground. The examiner didn't waste the chances and thrust his sword toward her neck, barely stopping by an inch.

Looks like the examiner got a little serious from the start, overestimating her a little. Now, it's my turn.

I walk slowly to arena, looking at the uncle in front of me for 3 seconds, then I rush to him, when I'm only 3 meters away from him, I jumped toward him using my sword in my right hand like a club and smash it at him, he block it by putting his sword horizontally at his front. I got push back by a meter then the uncle rush at me this time slashing his sword toward me. I meet it with my sword, slashing it upward, using half of my strength of it. The examiner got shocked, the sword got send back to him, over his head. He didn't fall by that, but I kick him on his abdomen making him fall, I put my sword and his neck, and that's the end of it.

My new friends and spectator got silent, but I ignored them and head toward the venue of the magic test.

The Magic test is firing a magic toward the targets which are 15 meters away. There are 5 target, hitting them will gain you 5 points.

Lorelei, Joya hits 3 targets but miss two. Rex hits 4 targets, this guy still good at magic. Adrian got a perfect score, hitting all five of the targets. Then me, and no, I didn't destroyed the target or the field. But they still got shocked when they saw five fireballs appeared around me and send them to the five targets, hitting those things at the same time.

By the way guys, maybe you just notice but it's hard to train swordsmanship or other weapons and magic at the same time. Many of them focus on one thing but still train a little of the other. Some monster out there can't be killed physically or by using magic. So there still need to practice magic a little even if you want to be a warrior. You may say that there are in group when hunting monster but what if the magic user or warrior of the party is injured. There may be low chances for that to happen, but it may be low but still happens when sh*t gets real.
