Control the Darkness

After a day of a long battle, the night sky fell.

Commander Yi invited Lunox to have dinner in the Angel Ark, while Minotaur and Aldous cleaned up the mess in the temple. Roger, Gusion, Clint and Yi sat together with Lunox, laughing and drinking in the table.

"And then Roger became this giant werewolf. Awooooo! Awooooo!" Clint said.

"Hahahahahaha!"

"Hey, seriously I had zero control over myself." Roger said.

"Well, you ate Helcurt's hand. Miss Lunox, is the Shadowbringer's blood poisonous?" Gusion asked.

"Uhm... I don't really know." Lunox replied. "All I know is that those creatures existed in the past, and that they kill humans for a living."

"Is that so? Hey Roger, next time cook us Helcurt's arm, so we'd know how it tastes like."

"Motor oil with blood." Roger replied.

While the other boys were talking, Lunox held Gusion's blade. Since it was night, his hair was white, and his blade glowed blue, like the Moonlight River in the Elven Kingdom.

"So Gusion, they said you were also a Twilight. Is it true?" Lunox asked.

"Yeah. I accidentally learned how to use dark magic when I was a kid. One time I was so angry with a bully who took all my coins in Mage Academy, instead of using light magic, I accidentally used dark magic. I felt I was... It felt like I... I couldn't feel anything. I lost control, I lost my mind, and I lost my conscience. The time I woke up, I was in the Infirmary with lots of wounds in my body. They told me I almost killed that guy when I tried to use the magic to kill him.

"So, did you do it?"

"No. I couldn't control it. And until now, I can't control it. My parents beat the hell out of me when I went back home."

"Dark magic is very complex and unstable. It will take time to master it. Did you try practicing it?"

"I can't. In the entire country of Moniya, which includes Moniya, the capital itself, Eruditio, Antoinerei or any of the other places that fight against the Abyss, dark magic is banned."

"What?! It's illegal?"

"Yeah. One time I fought against Pisces, Lancelot, I didn't mean to use dark magic, but my anger took over myself. And the time I woke up, S.A.B.E.R. and the police were after me."

"I know Pisces. He may be arrogant at times, but I know he's a good guy."

"A good guy? A Baroque? A guy who cheated to beat me???"

"He cheated?"

"Yeah. He cloned himself. I couldn't fight. He said he wanted me dead, and he even forced me to marry his sister if I lost."

"Really? Maybe he hated you so much after what you said you did to Guinevere."

"He did. And by the way, I took the Twilight Orb from him."

"What? Where did he get it?"

"There's this tournament called the Battle Royale. 33 teams would battle it out to find who was the strongest of the strongest on this country. I got the most kills award, because I ran over the battlefield and killed anyone I saw. Then I placed third, when that dirty cheater attacked us from behind."

"At least you got an award, right?"

"No. You see the reward of the winners was the Twilight Orb."

"T-The Twilight Orb?!"

"Yeah. And you see, he was the reason we lost MSC, because when we attacked, be stayed behind, and he refused to follow Tigreal's orders because of his arrogance."

"That must have been bad. Anyways, did your dark magic beat him?"

"Yeah. But I just don't know how I do it"

"Give me your hand."

Gusion extended his hand to Lunox. She cast a small floating ball of darkness in his hand. She took Gusion's other hand and enclosed them together.

"Now concentrate. Don't let your emotions control you. Control your emotions."

Gusion was able to hold out the dark orb, which was so unstable. He would then keep on thinking about Lancelot, and all the things he did to him. The dark orb disappeared into the darkness.

"Damn it! I just can't do it."

"Concentrate. Focus. Control your emotions."

Lunox transferred the dark orb onto his hand once again. Gusion moved his hands in a circular motion, trying to hold the orb in place.

"Now, shape it. Think of anything you can imagine."

The first thing he could imagine was a sword. He remembered the way he formed a giant sword to finish ofd Lancelot. He thought of it as he shaped the orb. Slowly, the orb became a sword, similar to his blade.

"Okay, drop it. This time, try to use the dark magic to destroy this rock. Think of it as your enemy. Rip them apart, and tear its flesh.

Gusion enclosed his hands. He couldn't get the rock to break. He only managed to make it float, but not break it.

"Try harder."

"I'm trying."

Finally, the rock made a crack on it's top. Gusion eventually ran out of gas and gave up.

"How can you do this? It's so hard!"

"It takes days, weeks, months, even years. I know you can do it. If you can use your dark magic to protect, you must learn to use your magic to destroy. With balance, there is success."

"I hope I can."

"Give me your hand again. Close your eyes.

Lunox then took the necklace hanging from her neck. She then put it in his hand. When Gusion opened his eyes, he became curious.

"What is this Miss Lunox?"

"A gift from my father. The Necklace of Durance. This should help you control over your dark magic."

"Thank you, Miss Lunox. Where will you go now?"

"I'm staying here in the Maze of Minos. There are a lot of things I should take care of."

"Keep safe."

"The Twilight Goddess will bless you in your journey, and by the way, defeat the Abyss for me. There can't be peace as long as the Abyss stands in the Land of Dawn."

"I will, Miss Lunox."

Gusion headed over to the cabin of the ship, where his sleeping bag was. He passed over Alucard, Harith and Ruby playing over on the floor of the ship.

"How does this earphones even work Alu? It won't fit my ears!" Harith said.

"Because you're a cat! Even Ruby can't fit it." Alucard said.

"Yes I can." she said.

She took off her cat ears, and dispatched a device connected to her real human ears.

"Wait, what?! You're have four ears?"

"No! I can only hear with my cat ears if I attached this in my ear.

"Yeah. And the reason you pretended to be a cat is because you want Gusion to like you, right?"

"I don't like you Alu! And I can't forgive you."

When Ruby saw Gusion about to pass by, she immediately wore her cat ears, not wanting Gusion to know her secret. She over to him and grabbed his arm. She then put her head on his arms and rubbed it on her hair.

"Onee-sama! Let's sleep together!"

"Ruby, seriously. Please stop." Gusion said.

"Oh, by the way Alucard, did you know one time I saw Gusion..."

"Oh screw you Harith!

Gusion immidiately went down, under the deck of the ship. He stormed down, taking Ruby off his arm. He took off his coat, put his blade on the shelf and proceeded to his sleeping bag. He saw Lesley wide asleep beside him. Tired from a long battle, he went to sleep.
