Nia could not wash her hands of the matter after admitting Yougal Lucas' grandma to the hospital or taking care of the papers and making the required initial deposit at the cash counter. But she had to wait till someone from the family was informed and relieved her of the duty. She asked the driver to call the family members.

She did not disclose the fact that she knew either the grandma or the grandson. Nia waited, to leave the moment she would be told that Yougal Lucas was on his way to the hospital. It was an impatient long wait. But fate had other plans for her.

Grandma's condition was critical. The cardiologist and the cardiothoracic surgeon who examined her, suggested immediate surgery. The two doctors told her that she did a good job by giving the old lady her medication before she lost consciousness and also immediately bringing her to the hospital.

Mrs Sinha was one of their regular patient. So they already knew about her case history. It was sheer luck that Nia bought her where she was a patient. Nia was relieved to hear that grandma was now looked after by her doctor. The old lady had long been a patient of coronary artery disease. She had been on medication for a long time.

Though the doctors adviced surgery previously, grandma declined and even managed to mislead her grandson, who had always been busy to check on the authenticity of his grandmother's version of fact regarding her health. But both the cardiothoracic surgeon and Nia had no clue about what grandma had done. Nia thought Yougal Lucas was being neglectful of his only family due to his business.

The cardiothoracic surgeon was displeased with Yougal Lucas Sinha. He had tried to contact several times the ever so busy hotelier in the past two months but it was really hard to get a hold of him. Earlier, which was more than six months ago, the surgeon asked Yougal Lucas Sinha to come to his office to discuss his grandmother's case.

"But it seemed he was busy making more money." The surgeon told her in an irritated tone.

The cardiothoracic surgeon Dr Eden Bairagi vented his displeasure to Nia at his chamber in the hospital. At first he thought Nia was related to the Sinha family. Though Nia corrected the mistake he still chose to share his vexation with her. The surgeon further told Nia that actually Yougal came to meet him with his grandma.

As he was in the operating room he could not meet them. But Yougal did not come again. The surgeon was angry with Yougal Lucas as the doctor of his grandma. Grandma needed immediate surgery but to their dismay they soon learned that grandson Yougal Lucas was in Leh Ladakh, renovating his hotel there.

The doctor tried calling Yougal but every time the computerized voice replied that the number was currently unreachable. Nia grew impatient at the man's insouciant act towards his grandma's health. How could he be so irresponsible not to meet the doctor? On the one hand she did not want to prolong her stay, on the other hand her conscience would not allow her to leave.

"What are you going to do now?" She asked Dr Bairagi helplessly.

He shrugged his shoulders, "We can only try to improve her condition through other means for the time being and wait for Yougal. We'll need his consent before we operate."

Grandma's condition was stabilized but Nia was still a little dazed by the earlier events; finding a sick lady squatting on the ground, the discovery that it was his grandma, the ride to the hospital. She was frazzled, her arms ached from holding the little girl for a long time. All she wished for was, someone to contact Yougal Lucas.

What Dr Bairagi did not know was that grandma blocked all news related to the aggravated condition of her ailments from reaching to her grandson who was almost always on tour. When Yougal Lucas came to meet the doctor six months ago, his grandma insisted on coming with him.

At the hospital she somehow managed to convince him that the surgeon doctor was visiting another hospital. Later on she lied to Yougal that she had met the surgeon. He and her cardiologist, both had told her that her condition had improved. She wanted her grandson not to worry about her.

If she had known it Nia could have understood that a willful grandma duped the grandson but still she would have been angry. What sort of person would not meet the doctor personally even for once to get an update on his grandmother's condition. She grumbled in her head.

She asked the driver to call Yougal's personal assistant as he could not reach his employer. Perhaps the PA would know how to contact the employer. The man did not have the PA's number. It was understandable as the man was a mere driver. She was not a family member and could not sign the documents for the operation.

The whole time the little girl never left Nia. She was tired and slept in Nia's arms, refusing to go to the driver. Nia wondered if the adorable girl was Yougal Lucas' daughter. She remembered that earlier in the evening grandma called the child Yana. She wondered where the mother was. Immediately Nia felt a little relieved. She asked the driver to call his employer's wife.

The driver stared at her in surprise, then he realized that the lady was a stranger. "But madam, our sir has not married yet." He replied, shaking his head a little.
