The Hallows cry (pt.01)

For this arc, it'll be mostly at 3rd with only glimpses on the 1st pov

(THIRD POV)

Mrs. Flickchered sat across Ed who was already sleeping in the sleeping bag, with only a crackling fire from the campfire between them. She was writing in her journal about her progress of tracking the perpetrator of the automatons' decline and the list of things she needed to find before the summer three years from now.

She stopped and sighs frustratingly,

There were still a lot of things she needed to do, almost at a frustrating amount at that.

Looking at the night sky outside the cave they decide to stay in for the night, she couldn't help but remember an old story her friends use to tell her every Halloween eve.

Mrs. Flickchered let out a hollow chuckle,

She really missed them. Looking at the journal on her hand, she sighed once more. After she finished everything, she needed to do, maybe she will be able to visit them.

"Soon…:" she'll meet them again. Waiting for another three years wouldn't hurt her after all those decades she had persevered.

"Hmm… how did the story go again?" she mumbled to herself, "a monkey paw, three fingers and three wishes… someone died… and his loved ones found the monkey paw… they wish for him to be revived… what happened after that?" she thought for a while before shaking her head, "...can't remember,"

Pity,

Iryan stood there awkwardly with a broom laid by his right side. Harry could only look at him worriedly while Mateo kept an eye in case an accident happened. The rest of the class were busy doing their own business.

"Well, I forgot this lesson exists" was what Iryan had said before they stepped into the field for the flying class, he said it so carefreely-- it was totally contrast with how he was looking like now.

"You know you can just tell the professor…" Ron suggested,

"No, no, it'll be fine!" his hands were shaking, "it'll be fine...?" He was trying to reassure himself, but his pale face became an irony to the situation.

"Whatever you say mate," Ron said, but his face was still showing concern

"Ok class, held out your hand over the broom and say 'UP'" The professor said

"""UP!""" everyone in the class said, some said it enthusiastically while others… not so much

Iryan could feel the broom by his side raise up slowly before reaching his hand to his grip. He sighed in relief, at least he didn't fail there.

Perking up his ears to catch what was going on. He could hear some cheers while most were grumbling in disappointment. He moved his head to Harry's direction and asked "How did you do Harry?"

Harry raised the broom in his hand to show Iryan, even though he knew it was all for naught, "First try," he sounded proud, "Ron and Mateo also seemed to be able to raise theirs." he looked around and observed the surroundings.

"Good for them then~"

"Mhmm" Harry nodded,

"Ok class, now that everyone has gotten your brooms, try to mount it like this" she demonstrated how to ride the broom without falling off. "Keep your center of gravity balanced, don't loosen your grip mid-air less you want to break your bones"

Iryan kept the floating broom by his side to a level where even when he sat on it, his feet would still touch the ground. The feeling of riding the broom was an odd feeling. It was like he was seated on the chair of a boat-- but with less… gravity and well, space.

"You good?" Harry asked him,

"Yea, it's not as bad as I thought it would" Iryan mused,

When the professor came around to their place, she fixed Iryan's posture a bit before giving them the thumbs up and went to the next batch of students beside them. Some got minor scolding with how to hold onto their brooms but the worst lot was actually Draco. With all his bragging, Iryan figured he could at least pass the mark.

"Everyone already on their brooms?" The professor asked, "Ok, get ready and say 'UP'!"

And every student did so,

Iryan just lightly kicked on the ground to just hover over the ground while Harry was only slightly higher than Iryan.

The blond marveled at the new feeling he was experiencing with a small smile that soon bloomed.

'This is fun!' Iryan thought,

Harry made sure Iryan wasn't having any trouble before raising a bit higher. He looked around and took in the view. It was truly amazing how just a bit of height can change things so much. He wonders what it might look like up there, way higher than where he was at.

Harry saw Ron who was wobbling as he sat on the broom, The girl that visited them in the train that was with the professor—asking many questions while shaking on her broom.

His line of sight then drifts to the Slytherin portion of the field

That blond who knew Mateo, Malfoy, seemed to be enjoying himself despite the initial scolding he got from the professor from his wrong posture. He didn't know much about the other Slytherin students, but it seemed like they were faring better than his side of Gryffindor.

They probably already learned this before.

He then saw Mateo, he looked like he was already use to flying on a broom, but why was he frowning? who was he looking at…

Harry moved his head to follow Mateo's line of sight,

…Chubby—Neville?

Harry's eyes widened,

He was wobbling left and right in the air. He was worse than Ron, like a newborn foal, but made it on air.

Is he ok?

Mateo looked like he was keeping his distance, but Harry could also see that he was within distance to be able to reach Neville if there was any trouble…

Ah…

He thought too soon,

Neville's broom started to shake and within milliseconds, it flew up abruptly.

Mateo clicked his tongue and zoomed, following Neville. "Let Go!" Mateo shouted, catching the attention of most of the class, "Let Go! I'll catch you"

Neville hesitated but did as Mateo said and let go. The broom flew off and crashed to the school's brick wall. It didn't snap into two, amazingly, but it didn't look like it could be used anymore either.

On the other hand, Neville who was falling was immediately caught by Mateo by the wrist, before Mateo pulled him up to sit behind him.

Harry unknowingly let go of the breath he had been holding.

It was truly a terrifying sight,

It could have gotten bad, really bad.

His eyes then caught a glint—something falling. He instinctively dashed with his broom to the place where the glint was falling down and caught it.

It was something round. He remembers seeing it earlier this morning. Was Neville the one holding it?

Harry looked towards Mateo who was already on the ground, the said ravenette was also looking at him with those sharp eyes of his. Mateo was holding the broom while allowing his shoulders to be held by Neville as a support.

Harry flew down and went to where the crowd was forming.

The professor ran to Neville and checked on him. He seemed fine, but his legs and hands were still shaking.

"Neville," Harry called out,

"Yea?"

"Is this yours?" He showed him the glass ball

"Y-yea, thanks" Neville nodded as thanks and put it in the pocket of his robe. His face looked deadly pale now that Harry could see him up close. "I-I'll excuse myself… now"

He was then led to the hospital wing by the Professor while having his hand covering his mouth.

"What happened?" Iryan asked, frowning "Was that… Neville?"

Harry walked towards Iryan and nodded, "Yea," He then look at Mateo who was also there, "How did you know" Harry looked at Mateo suspiciously,

"Know what?"

"That Neville was gonna lose control of the broom"

Mateo stared at Harry for a while before taking his eyes off of him and looked towards where Neville disappeared to, "He was beside me when the class started, shaking a lot. His nervousness would definitely cause trouble. So I was just making sure, and I was right in the end"

"you don't look like someone who…"

"Care?" Iryan chimes in, "See Matty, even Harry thinks your apathetic"

"Shut it,"

Iryan simply chuckled and whispered, leaning forward "How I remembered how you swoop in when there was an intruder in the house… my knight in shining armor~"

Mateo's face contorted to pure disgust and a mix of confusion at Iryan's act. He took a step back and spun his head further away from the blond.

Sensing it, Iryan smirked and snickered.

Harry could only watch with expiration.

.

.

.

Mateo looked at the five sleeping figures around him. They all seemed to be in deep sleep when he finally finished writing his journal.

He glanced at the clock that was by his study table and saw the long arm of the time teller was already pointing at 3am,

The ravenette took the clock to his hands and stared at it. His only source of light was the dim yellow light from the burning candle, the reflection of the candle reflecting on the glass of the clock.

And so did his'

The finger's that were holding the clock turned to black feathers and the reflection was now showing the face of a Crow's head.

Mateo put down the clock and cast a simple illusion spell on his bed to make it look like there was someone there before flying off. He used the room's ventilation system that was above the door and flew out.

His dark coating helped him blend with the dark, and with his experience-- flying quietly wasn't even a challenge for him anymore.

When he was far away from the dormitory, he perched on one of the tree's and took in the night's cold air.

He didn't know why, but he didn't feel like sleeping that night. And when he looked around, it seemed like he wasn't the only one who was thinking so.

Pale skin and honey-blond hair,

Looks so fragile to the point he thought he might be crushed by a simple impact, yet so bold to the point it made Mateo question where he got all that courage from.

Iryan was strolling around the lake like he owned the place.

He was humming along something Mateo couldn't quite catch. He seemed to be enjoying himself, maybe a bit too much.

Mateo starred in his animagus form from a distance. Mateo saw Iryan seated by the lake and leaning back, letting both of his arms support his body as it relaxen to the night's breeze. Mateo didn't want to bother--

"When are you going to come out?"

But Mateo was found out, like always

"Now," he said as he shifted back to his human form, jumping down lightly from the tree he was perching on seconds ago. "What are you doing here?"

Iryan turned his head and faced his general direction.

"How about you tell me first?" Iryan's voice didn't sound commanding at all, instead, it sounded inviting. Like he was coaxing a child. His ever-present smile was still there,

Mateo sometimes really wondered what's on the other's mind. "Couldn't sleep,"

"Ah~ same then," Iryan turned his head back to face the lake,

"Is that so?"

"Yup!"

Mateo walked towards Iryan and lessened their distance to 2 meters away from each other. But he didn't get any closer than that.

He didn't take a seat, instead, he stood behind Iryan who was seated on the grass. Iryan didn't say a word, and so did Mateo. They kept the comfortable silence until Iryan started, "It's almost, what? 5th year?" he asked,

Mateo frowned for a bit, '5 years?' he thought for a while before remembering. 'oh right, next year would be their 5th death anniversary'

"I wonder how they would have reacted if they knew I went to Hogwarts, would they be happy?" Iryan questioned, he asked it so carefreely

"They will,"

"Is that so? If that's the case, then that's good."

"Yea…"

Mateo stayed silent for a while, he bit his lips-- trying to hide his discomfort. Meanwhile Iryan was humming to the same tune he was singing before.

(IRYAN'S POV)

"I wonder how they would have reacted if they knew I went to Hogwarts, would they be happy?" I nonthecally asked the question to Matty,

Well, I didn't really need to ask to be honest. After all, I already know the answer.

Though I don't really remember them by now and only ghost of figures in my memories, some that I remember are also probably not true. I'm quite sure the answer would be that 'They wouldn't care'.

That I was certain,

"They will," Matty finally answered me, his voice… he tried so hard to make it sound convincing. How cute.

I couldn't help but chuckle a bit, "Is that so? If that's the case, then that's good." and thanks for trying

"Yea…"

After that he stayed silent. Truly… even after all this year. You're still not a great conversation starter huh? Oh well, he's an amazing listener nonetheless. I prefer it that way, anyway.

Sigh…

This feels nice,

I didn't know when, guess it was done unconsciously. But I started humming a familiar tune. I wonder where I heard it from? A soft melody, a calming one… maybe My birth mother sang it once? I don't remember.

"We should head back," He said, his feet shuffling through the grass-- cutting my humming, "the sun is about to go up"

"Sure" I replied

I got up and dusted my legs and pants from the grass that were probably sticking.

(THIRD POV)

Harry noticed Iryan had been going out during nights beyond curfew lately.

The others didn't seem to notice the blonde's midnight strolls. Harry didn't even notice it himself until he accidentally woke up too early, just to find Iryan to not be in his bed. Instead, it was the deception magic Iryan often use to play tricks on their classmates before as pranks.

Saying he was worried was an understatement. But at the same time, he wasn't worried enough that he started running across the entire castle to look for him.

The magic he left was still active, so it meant Iryan was ok. Harry also then reminded himself that this wouldn't be the first time Iryan went out at dark and only came back before dawn. It already happened several times when he was staying at the Crowell's.

So technically, he also shouldn't be surprised that The blonde would also do so here.

After calming himself down, Harry went back to his bed and lit up a candle to read the magazine he brought from the muggle world. He would greet the sleepy Iryan when he came back from his little midnight stroll.

.

.

.

"Do you want to come with me?" was what he asked Harry one day.

Harry was obviously taken aback at the offer, "Pardon?" He owlishly asked, blinking his sleepiness away.

He was woken up in the middle of the night by Iryan to… follow him?

"You've been acting like you were curious every time I came back from my strolls, so do you want to come with?" Iryan asked again, draping a coat over his shoulder, "You don't have to if you don't want to"

Harry was immediately snapped awake. There isn't any class in the morning anyways. So, it wouldn't hurt to follow his friend's midnight walk tonight. "Wait," Harry stopped Iryan, "I'll go, give me a moment"

Iryan waited for Harry to get his own coat before they went out together.

Iryan cast a spell on both him and Harry to go pass the fat lady. The spell itself was a simple hallucination spell that make them invisible to other people—a simpler version of the spell Iryan had used on Dudley before.

They walk past by the dark candle-lit hallways to the open corridors, they also saw several doors that belonged to their day classes.

"Where are we going?" Harry curiously asked, He had never gone to this part of the castle before. So he kept on looking around.

"I don't know"

"You don't know?"

"I just follow the flow of the magic here. Don't worry, there shouldn't be anything dangerous here" Iryan said, normally, that sentence alone can make Harry question several things. But he was smiling so carefreely—Harry couldn't help but feel more relax.

He still kept looking around though, mapping the place in his head. Taking note of the small landmarks he could identify and remembering the route their taking so they can go back to the dormitory without getting lost.

Clack

Clack

They both stopped,

It was the sound of footsteps,

Small chatters started filling the empty hallways,

It was probably the senior students that just came back from their astrology classes, Harry thought.

He snapped his head to his right and saw a wooden door, so without further thinking. He took Iryan by the wrist and dragged the blond to the room that was beside them without warning. He opened it and closed the door as quick and quiet as he possibly could.

Iryan, who was still taken aback at the sudden movement, held his head. "What was that for???" He whispers shouted,

"There were students," Harry calmly answers in a low voice

"We were supposed to be invisible to them!"

Harry stared at Iryan, then twitched his nose in annoyance. Right, he forgot. He still couldn't get use to the fact Iryan could do that, even with all the years he spent with the other.

"Sigh, whatever. Where are we?" Iryan stood up, dusting of his clothes from the dust,

Harry looked around and started describing the place to Iryan. Boxes that surrounded the room—all covered by white cloth, Two big windows that showed the night sky, and a single mirror in the middle of the room.

"A mirror? In the middle of the room?" Iryan scrunched his nose, "Gahh… we better get out of here, bad news. Bad news." He immediately went to the direction of the door

Harry was also about to follow when a breeze took his attention back to the mirror. The cloth that was covering it, slipped off. Rendering Harry to be capable of seeing what was reflected on it.

"Wait…" he mumbled

"What?"

Iryan turned around and faced Harry's general direction in annoyance, "We should get out of here" he then sighed, "I know I was the one who offered, but we really shouldn't be entering rooms—I have a bad feeling about this"

"The mirror…"

"…what about it?"

Harry slowly walks up to the mirror and saw what was in the mirror clearly. Two adults… and him in the middle. They were smiling.

"Harry?" Iryan asked worriedly when the ravennette didn't answer the first time

"Y-yea? I was—" he looked towards Iryan and then back to the mirror. The two adults were now gone, only his reflection and Iryan's remain. It looked like a normal mirror now.

"We should head back," Iryan suggested, heading to the door,

"B-ut…"

"This place magic is twisted, especially the middle of this room—which I'm guessing where the mirror is at." Iryan took Harry's hand into his own and started pulling him, "I have no idea what you see, but base on personal experience, don't trust everything you saw"

Harry took one more glance to where the mirror was. The two adults were now back, they were waving at him.
