Pharaoh

The monarchs of Egypt were known as kings. The term pharaoh was first used around 1200 BC.

The name pharaoh comes from a greek word meaning great house.

A prince can be picked by a pharaoh to be his co-regent. When a pharaoh died, the co-regent took over. For this chance, children were forced to train long and hard whilst mostly focusing on physical training.

Pharaohs are always depicted with a beard (even the female ones). It was believed that the beard enabled them to connect closer to the gods.

Egyptians believed that the pharaoh was the human form of the Sky God Horus.

Pharaohs spent a large part of their reigns preparing for their death. The tombs were built as homes for their spirits so that they could live well in the afterlife.
