Skye thought back to early morning the day that William arrived. Her morning started out like any other but she felt that something was different looking back on it she knew the moment she woke up that today was not going to be a good one.
She woke up but for some reason the all thing she wanted to do was go back to sleep. This was quite odd and she didn't know why she felt this way. It was like a sense of doom and no matter what she did it wouldn't go away. Everything started out normally she woke up just before sunrise to get ready for the early morning training session. God's did she miss sleeping in she thought as she stares longingly at her bed while getting ready. It has been years since she even had a day off, but being the best archer would do that. She grabbed a piece of bread and some cheese on her way out the door. She was running a bit late and didn't have time to make breakfast.
"This will just have to do," she said to no one in particular.
She walked through the orchard towards the academy. This was her favorite part of the day just her and her thoughts. She didn't mind the fact that taking this route added 15 more minutes to her walk to her it was all about the journey. Skye really loved everything about the trees their colors, their smell, even the animals they housed made her happy to be alive. Her father told her many years ago that he actually met her mother in this orchard right in the gazebo.
Skye didn't have any memory of her mother so this was her way of being close to her. On her morning walks she would quietly talk to the orchard as if she were talking to her mother. Although she never got a reply it always felt as if someone was listening to what she had to say. Today was no different, the topic of discussion was one that has been gone over many times. The fact that she was an outcast among her people. Skye never really let it show but it always hurt not knowing why.
"It seems to be getting harder as I get older, Isaac is so popular and has so many people who want to be his friend or lover but he is always with me. I'm afraid that one day he too will want to leave me and I really will have no one." She said as she walked through the long groves of cherry blossoms. They were her favorite, they were the most beautiful shade of pink that she had ever seen. They also gave off a wonderful aroma, a few years back she started to mix the fallen petals with the soaps and oils so she too could smell as nice as them. It was also so she could feel like she was never leaving her favorite place even at the academy. Which hands down was her least favorite.
At the academy, she was not only a student but also a teacher which made things quite difficult and today would be no exception.
"Skye you are late" a voice yelled as she headed toward the archery training grounds.
" I know I am very sorry headmaster," Skye said apologetically towards the old elf who had a perpetual scowl across his aged face.
"You are a teacher you really should be more aware of the time, all of your students have already arrived and you are taking your time to grace us with your presence .... princess." The way the old elf said princess was as if he didn't deem her worthy to be his princess.
She was boiling with anger, she wasn't even late only 3 students had actually arrived. The headmaster was such a dick.
"Yes, headmaster" she replied trying her best to hide the sneer that was forming on her lips.
The headmaster took his leave of the training grounds. Leaving Skye to start her horrible day.
