Vulnerability

The next day, Liz was surprised to see Rao with a grim expression on his face instead of the jovial smile that always greeted her every morning.

Getting on the car, she asked, "What's the matter, Rao?"

Hearing this, Rao looked at Liz in the mirror for a bit before smiling slightly and saying, "Oh, nothing Miss. Liz. I hear that it's going to be a hectic day, so you should catch some sleep on the way if you haven't had enough rest last night."

"Hectic? Why?"

"You'll soon find out."

Although Liz wasn't very happy at having her question sidestepped, she decided to let it go and looked out the window.

When she had seen the change in expression on Rao's face, it had been clear to her that he had been so preoccupied with whatever it was that had been on his mind that he hadn't even realized the change in his attitude until Liz pointed it out.

Something was definitely up, so Liz decided to get to the bottom of it when she could.

After reaching the headquarters, she was shocked to see that Rao had been right, and that he had actually been understating it.

It was the time when everyone came to work, so people could be seen everywhere walking to their offices. Yet, they all had serious expressions on their faces instead of the usual calm atmosphere that she had usually seen on the campus.

As she entered the main building, she saw that there was now a different woman sitting in Jenny's place.

Walking over, she was just about to head the CEO's room but she was interrupted by the new receptionist.

"Miss. Liz? You must head to the main boardroom, the CEO is in a meeting and you have been asked to join him there."

A meeting so early in the morning?

Usually, the CEO's schedule was that he would either catch up on the company's activities in the morning or he would have some important meetings in his office. Board meetings usually happened after lunch.

Although she was puzzled, she headed in the other direction.

The main boardroom was the largest room in the entire campus.

With the capability of seating over 2,000 people, it was built more like a college lecture room instead of its namesake. There was a central podium, surrounding which chairs and table were arranged in rows with each row increasing in altitude.

As she entered the room, she was shocked to see that it was filled to the brim with employees.

Standing at the podium was the CEO, who glanced at her and gestured to his side before continuing whatever it was that he had been saying.

"In other words, I want you all to comb through each and every bit of information about Sylvex. Employee details, allies, enemies, interests, missteps, all of it! By the end of the day, I want you to have thought about that name so much that you will mutter it in your sleep!"

Seeing the CEO speak in a tone that brooked no arguments, Liz was actually surprised. So far, she had only seen his cold side, so being witness to the charisma of the man who was known as one of the best CEO's in the world was quite impressive.

He wasn't shouting, but his tone made it so that each and every person in the room straightened their backs and listened with rapt attention. He was like a magnet that drew in all the attention and bound it to him, not allowing anyone to take their eyes or ears away.

"Your job is to find vulnerabilities. This company wants to go up against us, and it has even resorted to means that are… over the line. That is why I have decided that it is time to put them in their place. Make detailed reports about actions plans to undermine their operations in all the fields they are involved in. Make me happy, and your salary might double. But if you make me angry by not putting in your full effort…"

The rest of the sentence didn't need to be said. Instead, Will just looked into everyone's eyes, letting them imagine their worst nightmares.

"GO! What are you waiting for?"

At this sharp statement, all the people in the room started to rush towards the exits, as if it were a race to see who would reach their desks first.

Seeing them do so, Will turned around and started walking towards the door.

As Liz followed behind him, she asked, "Wh-what's going on?"

Turning back to look into her eyes with a serious expression on his face, the CEO opened the door and said, "Let's go. We have a company to destroy."
