Sneeky

The tricky thing about using a magic is there is always the cost.

Gene snickered as she tiptoed around the patio furniture and made a dash out of the house. She had to be careful as there were a lot of people around. Some that she didn't like especially her grandmother, the one that lived in a big house. She always yelled at mom and dad. They always fight. This time it was very bad. From her position out front she could hear everything clearly.

"I can't believe you want take her to private school," Mom said angrily. "We already found a local school to take her."

"We've talked about this," Grandmother said. "We agreed that she needed school. Real school. Not the normal gathering place that doesn't understand blood."

"She is blood where ever she goes. Nothing will change that detail. The sisters said it was for the best. Her powers are gone. To go there everyone will compare her to Diana and bully her." She muttered, "I don't want that for her."

"Never mind the academics," Dad said. "She needs the socialization. The only people she interacts with are adults. And when she is around her cousin she goes and sit in the corner. She has got to be around people her age and interact with them."

"But does it have to be at that common school." said grandmother,

"We agree," Mom told her,

From around the corner, in the direction of the kitchen, Aunt Selene called out, "Gene, come on in. It's time for lunch."

She heaved a sigh. It was not she wanted to go to school but ever since that incident everything was bad. Her parents were fighting, her grandmother came to visit often and she was force to spend time with Diana.

"Gene!" Aunt Selene shouted. "Don't make me come after you, girl."

She could tell her aunt was too cheerful to be mad. The sisters as her mom call them almost never got mad, but Gene also didn't want Aunt Selene to find out where she was, because then Mom and Dad would find out too, and she would be yelled at.
