Target

In technical terms, Kang Jun and Elder Tang were alone in the living room. The house only contained one other family member in it, Tang Yian, and the man wasn't even in the room with them!

Elder Tang clutched his cane and said, "We are in private."

Kang Jun shook his head. "Let me rephrase. Let's speak somewhere where no one will be able to interrupt us."

Hearing this, Elder Tang felt himself fighting back shivers. Feeling this, Elder Tang didn't know whether to laugh or be bewildered by the towering man who stood before him.

Without a second though, Elder Tang said. "Right this way..." before he led the man to his office.

Once inside, Kang Jun made sure to close the door behind him.

This slight action caused cold sweat to appear on Elder Tang's forehead but he did not fear. He knew better than to show Kang Jun fear. The man would exploit it, mostly if there was something he wanted.

Elder Tang took a couple of seconds to calm himself and then he spoke.

Elder Tang: "What is it you would like to discus?"

The old man's voice was polite, yet stern. He was showing his own strength. Kang Jun understood this, and on any other given day he'd be impressed that such an old man, who wasn't related to him, showed him such an expression but considering the reason he was here, Kang Jun didn't waste any time.

"I need you to stop inviting AnLing here." Kang Jun said simply.

Hearing this, Elder Tang frowned.

"What? You want me to stop inviting her here? Why!?" Elder Tang was furious.

"It's what's best for her safety." Kang Jun said ignoring the old man's anger. Whatever Elder Tang said, Kang Jun didn't care about his opinion, instead, the man's mind laid with his wife, so he specified, "Someone is trying to hurt her. I want her to be safe and because she keeps going back and forth between the Kang family home and the Tang family home, she's put in situations where she is an easier target."

Kang Jun also knew that Lu AnLing liked to visit him at work, but he also planned on telling her to spend some more time at home or at least around the home for their child's sake.

Hearing this, Elder Tang's rage subsided and he became quiet for a moment.

It was impossible to be the King of the Underworld without having a price on your head and others who wanted to kill you. When he first took up the position, Kang Jun didn't care. The man didn't have anything he cared about but it was only now that he realized that he had a lot to lose, and this included Lu AnLing. Even Elder Tang had realized this but still...

"Why don't you let her stay with mr here?" Elder Tang said calmly.

Hearing this, Kang Jun spoke without a second thought. "I refuse."

This was the exact reaction Elder Tang expected. There was no way Kang Jun would be happy to let Lu AnLing live with the Tang's. This was mostly due to the fact that it would separate their family. Because of Kang Mei Xue, they had to live within the Kang Manor without faltering, because if they didn't follow this, there would be consequences.

However, Elder Tang didn't know this, so he persisted. "And why not? We have an abundance of space here. Yian and I could take care of both AnLing and the little rascals... even Guanting can move in if he feels lonely!"

Hearing this, Kang Jun frowned. "No."

This time, there was a kind of animosity in the man's voice. Kang Jun didn't like when people tested his patience. It didn't matter who it was.

Hearing this in the man's voice, Elder Tang sighed.

"Fine, but I'm coming to live with you guys then!" Elder Tang said with slight annoyance.

Kang Jun looked at the man with slight confusion. "Why must you do that?"

"It's obvious that it would be strange if I or Bingyi stopped inviting her to come here. She'll think we hate her because she told us she was leaving the country. And so, a good way so to make sure she doesn't feel like that, is to live together with her." Elder Tang said logically.

Hearing this, Kang Jun knew the old man was right. But at the same time, the old man's whole demeanour alerted Kang Jun of ulterior motives. Though Kang Jun knew exactly what those motives were.

Lu AnLing was going to leave the country very soon and he would miss her so he wanted to spend as much time getting to know her more and becoming closer.

Allowing people into the Kang Manor to interrupt their daily lifestyle was a small price to pay for his wife's safety, so Kang Jun agreed without a second thought.

if necessary, behind Lu AnLing, Kang Jun would make sure that there was an army of men and women protecting her form the shadows so no harm could every come to her in T City.

Lu AnLing was worth it.

Even Elder Tang believed this, so much so, that the old man said,

"And besides, when my granddaughter is in danger I can't just sit back and do nothing. If I must, I'll protect her with everything I have, including my life."

Hearing this, Kang Jun looked at the old man with slight disbelief.

Seeing this look, Elder Tang frowned.

Elder Tang: "Don't underestimate old men!"

I’m so sorry I updated so late and only one chapter also! I’m so sick and I keep sleeping but the sickness doesn’t seem to go away or get better. My throat is probably the worst because it’s painful and I can speak at all. Ugh. It’s so annoying. I’m trying hard to take care of my health so I can get better and give you guys more and more chapters. For now, I feel an intense need to just sleep and drink water. Thank you all for understanding!
