"I am leaving him in charge in lieu of me"
Those words came in to Piper's Xu's spine as if some kind of sharp needles ready to pop out all her senses and patience!
What foolishness was Dr. Halsey talking about? When did Dr. Cyan deserve the senior operations manager position—a position that she could only dream about?
What was happening?
Didn't she successfully make Dr. Cyan damn useless in front of everyone? That fool even took laborers job because there was not job left for him!
And now just so suddenly he got that position without any effort at all? Was his luck better than her? She did all shameless things to make sure Dr. Cyan goes out of her way and yet his seatback only brought him promotion?
Even if the took-over was just temporary, it was already an implied rule in this team that the one who temporary took-over was the one who will soon succeed. And everybody knew how old Dr. Halsey was, its just a matter of time before he retires or goes back to the capital, so everything then will be left to Dr. Cyan?
That's horrendous!
The last thing Dr. Piper can do at the moment was to call everyone she knew to ask what was going on. Where was her congratulations? Did everyone forget that the Lagdameo horse survived because of her? And what was with Dr. Cyan's sudden promotion?
She had pressed Dr. Halsey number a couple of times and all she got was a voicemail. What was that old hag doing that he can't even pick up a goddam phone?
She tried a couple more numbers —her subordinates' number and took also a couple of dials before one call was answered.
"What's taking you so long to answer a phone???" She screamed from the other line.
"I'm sorry Dr. Xu but we are so busy as of this time. We have so many things to do"
"I didn't ask you to do anything! Who dared to instruct you with something? Weren't you part of my team? You are to answer directly to me!" The person's answer on the other line irritated her more and she can't help but screamed at the end of her lungs.
"Dr. Piper, we were all told to stick to the new assignments. I am already assigned to another vet and we are in the middle of work…" the person answered hesitantly.
"What are you talking about? What assignment are you talking about? I don't remember changing assignments!"
"It was sent to us few mornings ago when you were absent. We are to report immediately"
"What the heck are you talking about!!!!!"
If this subordinate was in front of her right now, she was going to eat her up alive! She was ready to dig in deeper on who made the new assignments when she noticed a memo laid down on her table. She grabbed it instantly and saw the list of all the vets and employees, so was the new assignment they needed to report to. She scanned the bottom part of the paper and noticed the signature. It was Dr. Cyan—it was Dr. Cyan's signature!
"And who the heck gave Dr. Cyan the right to change assignments?" She asked screaming at the top of her lungs again.
"Dr. Piper, Dr. Cyan was assigned as the senior operations manager…" Patiently the person at the other line voiced out. With all honestly, that subordinate kind of regretted answering Dr. Piper's phone call—not only was she taking much of her time, the doctor was also being mean and rude and unfortunately, she was the one who had to take all of her hang-ups.
"And why was that stupid doctor given that important rule! I can't accept this promotion! That Dr. Halsey was already old! Very old that he can't make important decisions!" Dr. Piper protested with so much annoyance and frustration.
Just then, she got to the conclusion that everybody was intentionally ignoring her. Probably the reason why nobody seemed to have cared about her long absence when she pretended to have been sick.
"Dr. Piper…"
"I am going to report Dr. Halsey to the young master right now and tell him about this scrape! And you! Go and tell everyone around not to follow Dr. Cyan's orders but to stick to mine! If I had to drag the name of the Xu family to this, then I will. Let's see if Dr. Halsey can get head on with my father!" She threatened. She was mad to the highest extent that she was ready to bring her own family to this matter.
"I'm sorry doctor Xu but I can't…"
"You, ungrateful little wrench! I am ordering you right now! Do you want me to trample on you too? You are just a petty new vet and I can easily fire you! Do the thing I am asking you right now or hell knows what I'm gonna do with you when I'm done with that Dr. Cyan!"
"But Dr. Piper the young master…"
"The young master owes me a lifetime. I cured his horse so with all the horses affected with the disease. He will surely grant any of my request because if he will not I will not to give him the cure no matter what he does!"
"But Dr. Piper… it was the young master…"
"What? Are you still hesitating my orders? Are you not afraid of the Xu family? How dare you talk back to me!"
"Dr. Piper it was the young master who recommended Dr. Cyan!" The employee laid down instantaneously. She had enough of Dr. Piper's tantrums, and she can't believe how vile this doctor was. Even dragging her family name to her own profession. Very unprofessional.
"What are you talking about?" With confused mad face she asked.
"You didn't know?" The person asked her back with a slight sarcasm in her voice. Piper Xu was not anymore her boss so she need not to deal with her anymore.
"Was there anything I need to know?"
