Japan Bound! Base Mode: Full Power!

We boarded our plane; I've been trying to process everything. Hero names, U.A. High, what even is U.A. High? I was sat next to my older sister and my parents & Liz were sat in seats a few feet away from us.

I turned over to my older sister, "Hey, can I... can I tell you something?"

"Sure, what's on your mind?" She responded.

I didn't know how I should even put this; do I just outright tell her that I don't remember a single thing besides waking up today or what?

"You could've told us earlier, you know! Losing your memory isn't something to take lightly." She whispered.

"H-How did you...?" I muttered.

"Our Quirk lets us read minds and transfer messages to people's minds. My name's Annie, by the way." Annie told me.

A Quirk? What in the hell is a Quirk? I'm pretty sure she's reading my mind right now, but I want to ask her anyway.

"Quirks? What's a 'Quirk'?" I asked.

Annie leaned back in her seat, "Quirks are basically superpowers. They started appearing a long time ago, they've become a lot more prominent now, though. We have a Quirk called 'Overdrive', it's rather unique."

I nodded and sat back in my seat as well, it would be a few hours before we reach Japan, so I decided to fall back asleep. Before I fell asleep, Annie shook me awake.

"What do you remember?" She fretted.

"U-Uh... Nothing? At least, I don't think I don't know anything." I replied.

"Okay... Don't panic... Do NOT panic..." Annie muttered.

"But I'm not panicking..." I mumbled.

She put her hands on my cheeks, "I'm talking to myself, now, what's your name?"

"Alyx." I answered.

"Alyx...? Alyx what?" Annie wondered.

I slowly raised my shoulders at her, her eyes widened and an intense smile that felt like one comprised of fear appeared on her face.

"Leonidus! Alyx Sienna Leonidus!" She whispered.

[14 Hours Later...]

Annie woke me up, I didn't hear what she said, but I knew we arrived in Japan. We walked out of the plane and walked out of the Airport. Japan, it was beautiful. The city streets were filled with cars and people, markets and street vendors.

"Amazing, this place is incredible!" I yelled.

We walked around for a while, everyone here is really nice and polite, and knew a lot of English, probably because of the tourists. I guess my brain kept the Japanese language in my head, because we all understood it as well. We stopped in the middle of town to eat.

"Sushi sounds nice, let's go!" My Mother suggested.

We all ordered the same thing, which is what most people do I assume? There was a loud scream coming from behind us. I looked back and noticed people running towards us.

"What the hell is going on?" My Father wondered.

Somebody pointed at the sky and ran. A giant was in front of a building! It looked like a bank? Wait... A GIANT?!

"ATTENTION CITIZENS! IF YOU DON'T WISH TO SEE A FOOLISH TEENAGER GET MURDERED, LOOK AWAY! RUN IN FEAR!!" The giant man shouted.

"Somebody please! Our daughter is in danger! That maniac has her!" A couple shouted.

(I.R.P.: Listen to Oliver Hoss' cover of "PV Music" from Kanojo, Okarishimasu)

I looked up and saw her, she used her Quirk ability to create these explosives from her arm, but they had no effect on this behemoth. I stood there unable to move from where I was standing. I could see her looking at me, a single tear fell from her eye. Something inside me snapped and my arms and legs were wrapped in a violet-blue flowy aura. My body acted on its own and I ran towards the giant. I heard my Dad scream my name, but I didn't turn back. The only thing running through my mind wasn't whether or not if I'd get hurt, it was whether or not I could save this girl!

I couldn't let someone die! I don't know why, but my body won't let me stop running, I needed to save her! That thing punched the ground, spreading debris all over, I jumped on the debris that had been scattered in the air. I jumped up from the last piece of debris and skyrocketed towards the girl. The giant opened his mouth and dropped her. It felt like time slowed down, I needed to be faster, faster than I was going now!

*THIRD PERSON*

"HEY! REACH FOR MY HAND!" Alyx shouted as he got closer to her.

The girl looked at Alyx and outstretched her hand towards him.

"Faster, Alyx! Faster! You have to be! You can't let this be the end of her!" Alyx thought to himself.

Right before she fell into the giant's mouth, Alyx caught her, just in the nick of time!

"Hey... It's okay, I've got you!" Alyx cooed.

The girl lifted her head up from Alyx's shoulder, "LOOK OUT!"

Alyx looked behind him and saw that the giant had shot out his sharp teeth at them! His eyes widened as he saw one coming directly at them. The girl buried her head in Alyx's shoulder as the tooth came closer.

"I won't die... I can't die here! I won't... LET THIS GUY WIN!!" Alyx thought to himself.

His scar began to flare out his Overdrive Quirk as he reeled his leg backwards and unleashed a huge wave of Overdrive! Alyx's feelings of anger and determination were put into the attack, splitting the tooth in half and slamming right into the giant thug! The girl looked up and both of them seemed astonished!

"H-How did I...?" Alyx muttered.

They landed hard on a rooftop, Alyx stood up and helped the girl up to her feet.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

She nodded at him, "Y-Yeah, I think so."

The girl tried to walk but stumbled, Alyx noticed that her leg was a redish-purple. Alyx held her arm and put it around his shoulder. He looked up and noticed that the giant thug was regaining his bearings!

"Stay here, I can deal with this guy." He told her.

He set the girl down a few feet away from him as he looked back up at the giant.

"This Quirk... It's unreal, my arms and legs, it's like they're supercharged with energy! That must be it, my Quirk, it's like what Annie told me. I think I'm starting to understand how it works, maybe? That last attack was completely derived from the power in my legs, but if I use all of my Quirk... I think I can win! I just have to use it at full power!" He thought.

Alyx looked back at the girl and smiled, "Everything's gonna be okay, I promise!"

The scar on Alyx's eye began to flare Overdrive once more as Alyx used his full power! The girl smiled back at him and nodded as a tear fell down her face.

"Listen, kid. She decided to interfere in my business, which that means she's a witness. I won't let some brat rat me out to the police, and I sure as hell won't let another brat beat me up! You got that?! I'll kill ya both if I have to!" The giant's voice boomed.

He lifted up his fist and launched it at Alyx. Alyx jumped into the air and narrowly dodged his fist! He reeled his fist back as he approached the giant's jaw. His fists were glowing a bright violet-blue as he quickly darted towards the villain! The giant thug looked shocked that he dodged the attack from such close range!

"FUUUUUCK OOOOOOFF!!!" Alyx shouted as he slammed his fist into the giant's jaw!

The giant stumbled backwards as he was hit with the full force of Alyx's fist. The giant man's head was reeled all the way back, he began to fall backwards. Someone caught him and Alyx looked up to see who it was. His eyes widened with surprise and a little bit of fear.

*LEONIDUS' P.O.V.*

"A-ANOTHER ONE?!" I shouted.

There stood another giant! It was a woman! She held her hand out and I landed on it. She set me down on the ground as her and that other giant shrunk down. In the distance, I heard a very generic sounding hero voice.

"AHA HA HA! DON'T WORRY CITIZENS! WE ARE HERE!" A man in a multicolored hero suit shouted with glee.

"Eh?" I uttered.

The huge man walked over to me, he had that girl with him as well! She ran over and hugged me as her parents approached.

"Momo! You're alright!" Her Mother exclaimed.

"Thank you so much! What's your name, boy?" Her Father asked.

"U-Uh... It's Alyx, Alyx Leonidus." I replied.

I noticed that Momo's leg was healed! But how? Her Mother and Father thanked me again and Momo waved at me as they left. The man in front of me looked down at me and smiled.

"Young Leonidus, what you did was reckless, but most definitely brave!" He complimented.

My family ran over to me, and the man looked at my Father.

"I knew that last name was familiar! Darren, what brings you to Japan?" He asked.

My Father shook his hand, "Sorry, All Might, I didn't think that he'd act like that. Alyx's been recommended to U.A., and I figured he'd have a better time here than in one of the schools in America."

All Might? This guy looked the part, that's for sure. It was almost as if I was staring at a mountain of muscle! All Might nodded and looked up at the sky.

"Well, I must go! See you soon, Alyx!" All Might smiled.

We waved at All Might as he jumped into the sky. This is all so weird; see you soon? What did he mean? As I was interviewed, I couldn't stop thinking about what I just did. Everyone was asking me how I did it, but I really couldn't give them a straight forward answer. Luckily, my Mother and Father stepped in for me. The people here must really eat up new stories about these Quirks, it felt like hundreds of people were asking me questions all at once!

[2 Hours Later...]

After that whole fiasco, we got to our new home and we unpacked everything. As I was unpacking my things in my new room, I took the time to figure out who I was exactly. Loads of these things called "Manga" were in my suitcase, a bunch of rock band shirts, and more things from somewhere called "Nevada". After I was done attempting to relearn who I was, I decided to take a walk around.

"Hey, I'm going out for a bit!" I called out before I left.

"Just make sure you're home before dinner, Alyx!" I heard my Mother yell from another room.

I really just needed a minute to clear my mind, everything's been so bizarre, and I just got here! I walked through town, I was curious to see how different things were here. Not that I really remember my old town, but I'm pretty sure the culture was different here. I entered a small convenience store and decided to look around.

"Good afternoon!" The cashier greeted.

I nodded and smiled; everyone was really polite here! I wonder if it was like that in Nevada? I grabbed a map and some things to munch on and headed to the cashier.

"Alright, that'll be... ¥1,368 please!" He told me.

Geez! That was a lot of money!

"Y-Yen? Is that the same as this?" I wondered.

I pulled out the money I had and the cashier looked at it.

"Hmm... I'll make a deal with you. I'll hold onto these for you, and I'll let you go and exchange this out for Yen! Sounds fair?" The cashier asked me.

"Yeah, I can go do that! Thank you so much!" I beamed.

I quickly got out of the store but ran back in. I completely forgot to ask him for directions!

"Hey, where can I do that at?" I questioned.

"Just go down the street and take a right, there will be a red and gold sign out in front of a building. That's where you can go and exchange your money out for Yen!" He directed.

I thanked him again and set off. As I was making my way to this exchange place, I ran into someone.

"O-Oh! I'm so sorry!" I apologized I helped her back up.

"It's alright. Mistakes happen." She smiled.

She looked me up and down, "Hey... Aren't you that kid that took out that giant today?"

People already knew about that? That happened not even two hours ago!

"Yeah, that was me." I replied.

"Himiko." She stuck her hand out.

"Alyx. But I'm guessing you already knew that, right?" I laughed and shook her hand.

She smiled at me, I didn't even notice that she had some sharp teeth! Almost like a shark!

"From where you're going, I'm assuming you're heading to the bank, correct?" Himiko asked.

"Yep! I was going to-" I stopped.

I reached for my wallet, but it was gone! I looked up and noticed that Himiko had it in her hands, but how?

She giggled at me, "I already know! So, what do you want to know about Japan, Giant Killer?"

"Well, I guess everything! I'm not entirely too sure about the lay out of this place." I told her.

She gave me back my wallet, "Let's go, I can show you around."

We walked around Japan, Himiko showed me some of the "coolest" spots to her. One of which was a back alleyway, I'm not really sure why, but I guess whatever floats your boat! We sat down on some steps that overlooked a nice little lake.

"So, I've got a question." I spoke up.

"Oh? What is it? I think I might have an answer." She responded.

I looked down at the ground and clasped my hands together, "Well... It's just that... You aren't a different person if you lose your memory, right? Like, you're still the same, no matter what?"

"Of course! What kinda question is that? Did you lose your memory or something?" She laughed.

I think she noticed that I wasn't saying anything and she stopped her laughter.

"Oh... You did, didn't you?" She wondered.

"Yeah... Ever since I woke up this morning, I couldn't remember a thing. Honestly, I'm surprised that I even saved that girl from that giant. I know I shouldn't be saying this to someone I just met, but if I can get help in some way, I'll tell anyone about it." I unclasped my hands and rested my head on my hand.

"I see, are you doubting yourself or something? I don't really do to well with doubters." Himiko responded.

I shrugged my shoulders, "I don't know. I guess I think that if I didn't have to worry about this memory loss shit, a lot of things would be going easier for me."

I pulled out my phone to check the time. It was 6:00 already!?

"OH SHIT!!" I shouted.

Himiko looked alarmed, "W-What?! What happened?"

"I totally forgot my Mom wanted me home by dinner, and it's 6:00 now!" I quickly got up and waved goodbye to Himiko.

"Catch ya around, Giant Killer!" She yelled to me.

I ran as fast as I possibly could back home. Which it took me about 10 minutes to do so. I slowly opened the door, and there was my Mother, standing in front of it.

"Hey... Mom..." I squeaked in a weedy voice with a nervous smile.

"You're late. How are you late getting home, when you're as fast as a bullet train in Gear Two? How?!" My Mother fumed.

"M-Mom I-" Before I could explain myself, my mother cut me off.

"No excuses, mister!" She interrupted.

"But Mom, I lost my memory!" I blurted out.

I immediately tensed up and my eyes widened.

My Mother turned around, "What? Is... Is that true, Alyx?"

Annie came downstairs, she must've overheard us.

"Yep, it's true. He told me while we were on the plane coming here." Annie told her.

"Why didn't you say something earlier, Alyx?" She cooed as she hugged me.

"I didn't want to make you guys worry about me, so I honestly wasn't going to say anything for a while." I confessed.

"Sooo, is that a "yes" to the old baby pictures or...?" I heard Annie ask.

I sat there for a few hours relearning everything about myself, I couldn't believe that I never had a scar on my left eye!

"And this was when you and Annie blew up one of the guest rooms in our house!" She exclaimed.

"Wait, why would you have a picture of that?" I wondered.

"She keeps tabs on everything, and I mean EVERYTHING." Annie laughed.

"Oh, I do not! It's good to make memories out of things! We sure as hell wouldn't be sitting here having an easier time with your brother's Amnesia, now would we?" My Mother countered.

Talk about being put on the spot...

"Hey, you wouldn't happen to have those pictures on your phone, would you?" Annie asked.

I pulled out my phone and went into my photos, there were loads of photos with me and a bunch of other people!

"Woah, how come I never thought about this?" I pondered.

We looked through all of the photos on my phone, we came across one that almost made me cry. It was a picture of me and I'm assuming my older brother.

"That's... Kariya..." I muttered.

"Hey! Look at that! It looks like you've retained some things at least." Annie grinned.

I'm not sure why I almost cried, but something about that picture gave off despair.

*THIRD PERSON*

[Several Hours Later...]

Later that night, as Alyx was sleeping, his Mother paced the kitchen in worried thought. The front door opened, his Father finally returned home from a meeting, which had been with the staff members at U.A. High.

"Marie? What's wrong?" Darren wondered.

"He's lost it Darren, I don't know what to do. I didn't want to make a huge deal out of it and I pretended it was okay but... H-He's lost it!" She sniffled.

Darren hurried over to his wife and held her, "He's lost what, honey?"

"H-His memory..." She softly cried.

His eyes widened and his grip tightened on Marie. He couldn't believe what she had told him.

"But... His head injury... They told us that it was just a minor thing and that we didn't have to worry about anything. I should've gone with my gut feeling..." Darren replied.

"What do we do now? Alyx can't even use his Quirk properly anymore, he's only able to use his Base Mode, Darren!" Marie fretted.

"I... I'm not sure. I didn't think that it would've been this bad. Listen, I'll talk to Toshinori and the others again tomorrow. Maybe they can help us figure something out?" He reassured her.

Marie looked up at him, "And what if they can't? Are we going to let him off into U.A. without knowing a damn thing about himself? What's he gonna say when someone asks about his Quirk and who he is?"

"We'll do the best we can, that's all we can do. If we have him freak out about this, it won't do any of us any good, so we'll need to make things seem like they're easy to deal with. I don't want him stressing out over this, so we'll need to keep showing him as many things as we can." Darren responded.

Although he sounded confident, doubt was plaguing Darren Leonidus' mind. How much did his son lose? Was there really even a way that they could help him?
