The Oresteia (Modernized)

All three of the great Greek Tragedians have written plays about the bloody chain of murder and revenge within the royal family of Argos. Yet theirs is in fact not a story of tragedy, but rather one of redemption. As they move from darkness to light, from rage to self-governance, from primitive ritual to civilized institution, their spirit of struggle and regeneration becomes an everlasting song of celebration to be heard throughout the ages. Forming a discourse set against the emergence of Athenian democracy out of a period of chaos and destruction, the Orestian plays are compelling stories of the tensions between our obligations to our families and the laws that bind us together as a society. In the beginning, we witness how a king’s decision to sacrifice his daughter and turn the tide of war inflicts lasting damage on his family, culminating in a terrible act of retribution. In the aftermath of regicide, we behold how a son must set out to avenge his father’s death by committing a most egregious sin. In the end, the sinner is tormented by supernatural powers that can never be appeased, but ultimately finds redemption and ends the curse on his house once and for all. Woven through all of this is the story of a friendship so close that it elevates itself to brotherhood - Where the blood of the covenant is shown to be indeed thicker than the water of the womb. In this very brief twelve-chapter modern rendition of the Orestian plays, I have chosen to place my focus mainly on the lives of the characters Orestes and his best friend Pylades. The chapters, each around 2000-2500 words, are split up evenly between them in first-person narrative. I hope that you will come to enjoy reading this heartwarming story, but more importantly, that you see how the conflicts portrayed in the story, whether human or institutional, are still much very relevant to our societies today. Note on Sources: The details of this story is very loosely based on The Oresteia by Aeschylus, who was one of the three great Greek Tragedians (though this story is not a tragedy). And I mean very loosely. Other sources that I referenced for detail and inspiration are Mythology by Edith Hamilton, Electra by Sophocles, and Iphigenia in Tauris by Euripides. You may also find that I have quoted some of these works, and others (such as Shelley's Ozymondaeus), without citations (average of 1-2 such quotes per chapter). I did this because I do not have the ability to describe certain scenes nearly as well as some of those writers. If you read a particularly beautiful piece of prose here, chances are it's probably stolen lol.

Moonlight Nobles

[Fake Noble + True Queen + Disguise + Heartthrob + Infrastructure + Self Growth] Lilith has transmigrated into another world, finding herself in the body of a lowly commoner who is pretending to be a noble lady to gain admission to a prestigious school. She is on the verge of being exposed, facing the scorn and ridicule of the entire school, and eventually being hanged in the marketplace. What does Lilith have to fear? Pretending to be a noble? Coming from the 21st century, she can pretend better than the real nobles! A noble lady tries to test her with expensive spices. Lilith takes one look and recognizes them as common seasoning in Western cuisine. As if she hasn't tasted them before! They say she can't do geometry because she's a commoner. Lilith smiles gently: Isn't it just trigonometry? She learned it in middle school! What? They say she's poor and penniless. She casually takes out an entire bolt of silk fabric to make pajamas and fills a box with silk handkerchiefs, using them one by one. They claim she's not a real noble without a fief? Ha, she earns money by day and cultivates land by night, attending school while farming. She has millions of square kilometers of fertile new land all to herself. She builds her own country and enfeoffs herself! Eventually, her old acquaintances expose her identity, and the church seeks to put her on trial, presenting evidence that she's not a noble—there’s no record of her ennoblement in the Kingdom of Mist. Lilith: A title? Sorry, she doesn’t have one because she is the King of the Kingdom of Mist! In the end, she abolishes the nobility, establishes a new nation, and becomes the deity in the hearts of millions of commoners. She grants them peace and prosperity, and they offer her loyalty and faith. She ultimately becomes a god through their belief!

The Mirror Of The Unseen Dream

In a world where might makes right, where the strongest can do whatever they want, where ambition means power. Where everything looks bleak, where demons from humanities worst imaginations enter into the world, where people have abilities gained from the same place their nightmares come from. Where one person will maybe change it all, or fall victim to its setting and become a tyrant worse than any before him, This is the journey of Helel the one with a power humans could only dream of, the power of one akin to a fallen archangel... (Note: This fic won't be focused on islamic theology, but since it is my religion and my mc will be muslim, I will say that anything my mc says about it you can consider true about my religion, because I won't lie about my religion. Though do take it with a grain of salt, because I am still human and am not a scholar or something so I could make mistakes, and if you find them please do comment and tell me about it so that I can correct it. But I digress, what I'm trying to say is everything aside from my own belief is fiction and shouldn't be taken literally. But be warned though I take things from other religions and implement them in my story such as Zeus, Odin, Thor, even Lucifer, etc. and have them come from a mirror world where everything humanity dreams is there, and are shaped by humanities belief about how they are. There are different realms in it such as Olympus, Hades, Asgard, Helheim, even "Heaven" and "Hell" Well not ther real ones because as I said because of my belief in my own religion I will make it the reality of the novel as well, for if I believe my religion to be how reality truly is why not my novel? Though if you don't truly like that don't worry because my religion aside from some comments about it from some characters won't really have an active role in it because of the fact that as I said I am no scholar so don't want to say something wrong about it so figures from it won't be feauturing in this story. Hope you still wanna read, and if you do, Enjoy!

Better Off Without Me

Across a chasm of forgotten millennia, two souls are destined to reunite. In a bygone era where magic pulsed through the veins of the world, Lyra, a warrior of unrivaled prowess, and Kael, a prince burdened by a five-hundred-year war, fell into a love as forbidden as it was fierce. But fate, a cruel jester, threatened to tear them apart. Looming on the horizon was another war, a tempest that promised to consume everything. Fearing oblivion's cold embrace, Lyra and Kael defied the ancient laws, delving into the forbidden art of reincarnation. It was a desperate gamble, a chance to defy the inevitable, but success hinged on a single, glimmering hope - a magical repository strong enough to preserve their memories across the eons. Lyra's essence was woven into a magnificent ring, a silent testament to their love. Kael, in turn, entrusted his memories to a jeweled necklace, a beacon in the swirling mists of time. Then, with a whispered plea and a surge of forbidden power, they surrendered to the unknown. Millennia bled into the present, a world devoid of magic yet brimming with its own mysteries. Emily, heiress to a veiled fortune, traded the gilded cage of her birthright for the grit and danger of the FBI. A master of disguise, she danced on the razor's edge, faking her own death to vanish from the clutches of the law. Fate, however, had a cruel sense of humor. A chance encounter in a grocery store, an undeniable pull towards a handsome stranger named Max - these were the whispers of a past whispering through the ages. Their connection was undeniable, a spark that threatened to ignite a firestorm. But the shadows of Emily's past refused to stay buried. A vengeful former partner resurfaced, jeopardizing everything she held dear. As Emily fought to shield Max from the darkness, a horrifying truth shattered the fragile reality she'd built. The ring, the undeniable pull towards Max - these were fragments of a love story etched across time. The shocking revelation - they were Lyra and Kael, reborn. Their forbidden love, a melody echoing across the centuries. Now, armed with the knowledge of their past, they must face a new battle, a fight not just for their love, but for their very existence. Will their love story defy the odds once more, or will they be forever prisoners of a tragic past?
