They couldn't risk being seen by someone else so they had to stay outside. As much as he wanted to pretend like he wasn't terrified of what lurked in the shadows, he was. He volunteered to keep watch while Prim and Benjamin slept. They needed it. after all, they were only human.

Also, Dolion just needed time for himself. After that afternoon, using his ability brought back memories he'd rather not think about.

"I never thanked you"

Dolion turned to see Benjamin sitting up looking at him.

"No need Benny"

"Don't call me that..."

There was a long silence that quickly grew awkward.

"So what happens next?" Benjamin asked.

Another moment of silence.

"I don't know" Dolion admitted.

Benjamin sighed. "What did I get myself into?" He glanced over at Prim who was fast asleep. "What did we get ourselves into?"

"Your going to be heroes once you defeat Mezereth"

"But what if we...Ya know"

"You won't. It's my job to make sure you two succeed"

"Is this the only reason your helping us?"

Dolion hesitated. "Yes" he finally said.

Dolion had a past of letting people he cared about slip away one way or another.

He couldn't let himself care for Prim or Benjamin. He couldn't ever call them friends. Because he knew that when this was all over they would return to their world and he would remain in his. He would search for the person who killed his mother and half brother. And he would never see Prim or Benjamin again.
