6 ~5~

It's been almost a week since they were dragged to the apartment building and so far life has been pretty normal.

"Sorry, guy's I can't today. I'm supposed to be meeting up with Benjamin again"

"Why are you always with him now? It seemed like you two hardly knew each other the last time we saw him" Cress said crossing her arms.

"It's just... We have a lot more in common than I would've guessed and we kind of got ourselves into a situation-"

"Are you in trouble?" Henry asked.

"No, it's just...I can't hang out today that's all...Sorry"

Cress and Henry didn't even say goodbye or wave or anything. They just turned and left. It hurt Prim more than she'd like to admit. But her and Benjamin had to figure out what they were meant to be doing. They were trying to save humanity. And Prim knew that if her friends knew that's why she couldn't hang out with them they would understand. But it still hurt.

But she didn't have time to feel sorry for herself. She had to meet Benjamin at his place soon before his family got home. He didn't want them meeting her for some reason. She wanted to ask why but she didn't want to press to much.

When she got to the small house she climbed the steps and knocked on the dark green door.

"Good, it's only you," He said when he opened the door.

"Nice to see you two" She laughed pushing past him.

She shook off her heavy coat and plopped down on the small grey couch. And he sat down next to her.

"So, have we learned anything?"

"Not really. But I've been thinking about what she said. Obviously the clue we're looking for won't be found with the naked eye. So I'm guessing its in that one place"

"What place?"

"God your clueless" Prim chuckled. "When she appeared to us for the first time she thanked us for waking up. I think we were fully awake then, so-"

"So we need to 'wake up' again? Do you remember how painful that was?"

"Yes. But if we're going to find the answer we want we need to fully wake up and let our eyes adjust"

"And how do we do that?"

"I don't know..."

Silence filled the room.

but Prim knew just sitting there thinking wasn't going to solve their problem, that was all they could do. A week ago they were two normal people. And now they were expected to save humanity. And they were expected to know things they hadn't known before.

But maybe sitting there thinking was exactly what they needed to do. After a moment of silence she the ringing returned.

Prim and Benjamin both turned to each other at the same time knowing what was about to come.

But just as it began to grow louder the front door swung open and a man, woman and a boy and a girl stepped into the tiny house.

This must be his family...

The ringing stopped but now Prim had a theory as to how both of them were able to accomplish even that.

His mother stared at Prim with cold unnerving eyes. Her eyes were brown like the other two children's. But his father's eyes were a lovely sea green.

"Uh, Hello" Prim smiled nervously. But when she glanced over at Benjamin he had his eyes covered with one hand and his elbow resting on the arm of the couch.

"Who are you?" His father demanded.

"I..Uh..." She shrunk away beneath his gaze.

"Out. Now" His mother said.

Prim started to stand but she was pulled back down.

"No, she can't leave yet. We're talking about something"

"It wasn't up for discussion boy" His father seethed.

"It's alright I'll g-" She started to stand again, and again she was pulled back down. But this time she was so close to him. She could tell he knew it too by the way his body tensed beside her. But he didn't let her go.

"How dare you" His mother growled.

She cursed at him. Words a mother should never say to her son.

"I want you out of my house," She told him.

"And where am I to go?" He asked completely unfazed by this threat.

"That's no longer my problem"

"And you" She said turning to Prim.

Prim could feel Benjamin's fingers tightening around her wrist.

"How dare you come into my home and disrespect me"

"But...I said I would leave" She tried to argue, but her her words were of no use.

She could see the anger blazing behind the woman's eyes.

The woman started toward them.

Prim closed her eyes and braced herself.

But right when she would've felt something like the blow of the woman's fist or something worse she was being pulled from the couch.

"Open your eyes, Prim. You did it" She heard Benjamin say.

When prim opened her eyes the world was tinted blue and the woman was frozen in time.
