2 There is Love before there is Reason

Mary.

Mary Anne...

Mary Anne Wild had no friends.

She was just a weird girl with frizzy hair who always happened to carry two or three books in her hands at one time.

She also happened to live alone for three of the four seasons and books just happened to keep her mind off this fact.

Adam also just happened to notice this fact. It was less coincidental than 'gathering Intel.' There was a fine line between stalking and 'gathering Intel' but...there is love before there is reason.

All he knew was that, his heart was being held hostage by the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. All he knew was that her smile was the most genuine and precious memory he had and he wanted to protect the memory and maybe...hopefully add a few more.

Mary Anne seemed to be wherever the light was brightest and in this light he was happy to be her shadow.

His only friend noticed his odd behavior; his disappearances and awkward excuses.

His only friend was Frank, a kid a few degrees less socially impaired than Adam and yet they had managed to remain best friends for a bittersweet nine plus years. Frank was quite frank and so one day he sat his friend down and gave him some sound advice. It was because of this advice that Adam went home to write a letter

***

Adam lived in a house that was picture perfect, and it would seem that he fit in with his picture perfect family. The house was a pure white; the interior was oak, leather and stuffed animals, animals his family had shot of course.

The house belonged to his Grandfather who had inherited it from his grandfather and so the house would one day belong to Adam.

His family consisted of his grandfather, father, mother and sister. His grandmother had died a few years back, back when his grandfather was slightly less grumpy.

It had been on this day that his grandfather lay on the roof with a sniper rifle pointed to the yard. He wore a black shirt and pants, as was his usual attire. His face was weather worn and his sparse hair had long turned white, his eyes gleamed with frustration and his lips were set in a deep frown.

It happened a minute after Adam spotted his grandfather on their red roof. A gunshot resounded as birds took to the sky. Adam saw Mary Anne smiling at him and he thought at least he had met the other piece to his soul. However, after Adam had this thought he realized that his grandfather had not in fact shot him but rather a small stray cat hiding within the hydrangea bushes.

Later as he wrote a five page essay on his feelings for Lady Wild, his grandfather who was still on the roof shooting cats, fell to his death. It was rather unexpected that he would slip upon his descent. It wasn't too sad as the family had been waiting for his final retirement.
