6 Chapter 6: Before the storm

I already have a backpack ah. Fan Chang stared at the now-closed door where Hong Cheng went out.

But then again, having an extra bag is not a bad idea... Good thing, I have space. So no need for an extra bag and it is easier to carry things. Unlike before where he needed to rely on his strength.

Fan Chang looked at the room where he had lived for many years. He looked at the bed, the drawer, the fridge, and the other things around him. He felt sad for leaving the place where he lived for a long time but he had no choice. He remembered that in his previous life, no one would build their base here because of the scarcity of resources and this area would be a place filled with zombies. Also, if he would not leave then he could not meet Hong Cheng, although he had already met the man now.

Fan Chang's attention shifted to the window. He some people walking outside, some were walking alone carrying shopping bags while others were leisurely walking with their loved ones. Fan Chang felt sad for the people outside.

He decided to check his post online about his warning for the upcoming apocalypse and found that in just a short time it has been shared many times. Some of the shared posts contain some humorous captions. He checked the comments to his post and found some humorous images. Fan Chang has a black line on his face but he could do nothing about it and he couldn't blame those people. His post seemed a little unreliable.

Fan Chang closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He clenched his fist and just hope that those people would survive. He turned off his phone and was unable to see the latest comment to his post asking him if his post about the upcoming apocalypse was true or not.

In a small house, a bit far from Fan Chang's area, a young boy who was about six years old was holding a phone, and sitting next to him was his three-year-old brother who was holding his favorite stuffed toy.

The young boy saw Fan Chang's post online and became curious so he decided to ask in the comment section but received no reply from the person who posted it. Instead, many people replied to his comment saying that it was not true and he should not believe everything he saw on the internet. The young boy shook his head and looked at the post one more time before turning off the phone he was holding.

"Brother, I'm hungry." The younger child who was holding a stuffed toy said pitifully.

"Big brother will be back soon." The older one said. They were waiting for their eldest brother who was still working in the fields to come back home. Usually, their brother came back early but when sometimes late. They moved to this place after their elder brother lost his job in the city and they rarely went out so they were not familiar with the neighborhood.

The rent in the city was expensive and it was difficult for his brother to look for a job. Their savings was becoming low. Remembering that when their parents were still there, they bought a small house in the countryside, their eldest brother decided to pack their things and live in the countryside.

"Big brother will be back soon." The older boy said again trying to comfort the younger one and himself.

Remembering the post he saw on social media, the young boy looked around the house and breath a sigh of relief that the house is made of concrete.

He stood up and looked out the window and saw that the fence around their house was higher and it's made of stone. Zombies will not be able to jump over that high fence, right? He then shifted his attention to the small refrigerator in the room and thought that there was some frozen good in it but his brother said that they were not allowed to touch the stove. The young boy decided to send a message to his brother.

Feng Chao who was currently putting the last sack of the dried grains in the wagon received a message from his younger brother and was a bit surprised after reading it.

He checked the time and indeed it was too late. He looked at the sacks of grain in the wagon and decided to first store them in his house. He was planning to sell them first to have some money to buy food but thought that there are still some unharvested vegetables outside their house. He would just sell the grains tomorrow.

Fan Chang put his phone in his bag and concentrated on putting some things into his space from his room.

He first walked towards the bed. He closed his eyes and touched it. He thought of putting it in his space and after a few seconds when he opened his eyes. The bed could no longer be seen in the room. Fan Chang smiled and looked at the other things in his room excitedly.

Fan Chang felt dizzy after using too much energy, he leaned against the wall of his room and looked at his empty room before going out and locking it.

He was about to leave the place when he saw his plants outside. He thought that it would be a waste to leave his plants here. He looked around and saw no one then Fan Chang hurriedly put all his plants into his space and walked away from the place after.

"What takes you so long?" Hong Cheng was sitting in the driver's seat of his car and asked Fan Chang when he saw him heading in his direction.

"Nothing. I just ate another plate of stir-fried vegetables." Fan Chang opened the door to the passenger's seat and went inside the car.

"You should have invited me."
