1 Prologue

Dreams can't come true, it is all meaningless especially when it comes to sports. If you aren't born with talent no matter how much you practice you will be outclassed with a player with a talent that we will never be able to achieve.

Basketball is a sport of height and a player like me who is about 167cm tall doesn't belong in that kind of harsh world, but my father thought differently. My father, Amin-Shik is known as the first Korean player to be in NBA being only 178cm tall and he was a fool to believe he had a place on that court.

Every game he played he will get injured, never scored a point, he dragged his team down and the problem wasn't the fact that he was a bad player, it was that the Americans were just in a different league.

However he didn't stop playing, he would practice more than anyone else in his team but his effort was futile. In the end, he died from Lung cancer when I was around 7 years old. People considered him as Korea's hero because of his determination on playing in the NBA.

Even if he was a fool I wanted to be like him, a man who doesn't give up till the end. The last thing that he told me was "fly little one, fly". To this day I haven't figured out what he meant but I do know he didn't want me to quit playing basketball.

I haven't given up on it even though I knew I will end up in the same fate as my dad did. It wasn't because I loved or had any passion for it. I made a promise that for his sake I will become a player that he always wanted to be, and even if that doesn't happen I will never give up on it.

Ever since that day, and my mother moved into Gawnju where my grandparents were living. The school wasn't known for its basketball team but I was willing to join since it was the only team around. I had no sense of hope for this team to go to nationals but it was until I met him. The person that made me who I am. A partner who made me the world's greatest player.
