6 Chapter 6. Adaptation

I need to be adaptable and malleable. He's not even being serious and I'm already having this much trouble. I need to master combat and being able to adapt mid-battle. I don't know if I believe Theo about how humans have the greatest adaptability but I'll make that my new reality and change so that nothing can stop me.

"Are you able to continue boy?"

"I have a feeling you wouldn't let me quit even if I wasn't ready. However, I'm just getting fired up!"

Hiro starts punching at Theo and he easily parries them off and spins to hit Hiro with a back fist. Hiro blocks Theo's back fist and throws a kick when he thinks Theo's guard is down.

I got him this time! Finally a little payyyybackkk...

Theo kicks Hiro's other leg from under him. As Hiro starts going towards the ground he catches himself with a one-handed handstand and kicks Theo.

"I finally got a hit in!!! How's that?"

"Good boy you're finally adapting but don't get cocky. WIND MAGIC: TORNADO SWEEP!!!"

A gust of winds spins Hiro's hand around and throws him to the ground.

"You used magic! That's not fair!!!!"

"All is fair in battle I never said I wouldn't use magic. It's an option available to me so I used it."

"I thought you were training me in combat before using magic."

"Magic is a part of combat my boy do you think everyone you fight will just want to go hand to hand? What about creatures like elves that are known for their magical prowess do you think they'll just fight you with their fists?"

"I mean no but I just thought that I'd we were training you'd start with just fighting then using magic."

"That was your mistake, not mine."

Theo smiles then cover his hands in fire.

"IGNITION FISTS!!!!"

"Fire hands!!! seriously!?!?!!! how am I supposed to fight that? I don't have some cool move like water fists or flame extinguisher legs"

"That's the beauty of it, my boy, you'll just have to figure out a solution."

Theo starts a full onslaught of punches and kicks. Hiro tries his best to block or dodge the kicks but keeps getting hit by the ignition fist.

This is so frustrating it's like no matter how much I dodge or block I keep getting hit regardless of how hard I try. It just burns me up inside.

Hiro drops his guard completely. Theo sees this as an opportunity to teach Hiro.

"You're wide open boy!!!!! IGNITION FIST INFERNO!!!!!"

Theo launches in to hit Hiro. At the last possible second, Hiro catches Theo's fist mid punch. Somehow this time the fire left Hiro in affected. Theo could feel the fire going towards Hiro and he could feel the flames being pulled out of his hands. Hiro kicks Theo on the side surprisingly hard. Theo felt the pain of that kick and it makes him jump back cautious of Hiro.

"Interesting boy!!! very interesting!! That kick stung a little could this be his.....", Theo thought to himself and started to grin like a devil.

Hiro kept muttering to himself

frustrating.....frustrating.....

Hiro's hair began to float and the air around Hiro started being heated. Energy and flame started to surround Hiro.

"What is this.... sensation???"

The feeling almost overwhelmed Hiro and he started to feed everything he had into this new sensation. The restrains broke and melted off Hiro. The ground at the base of his feet was engulfed in flame.

"You have manifested your elementa!"

"My...elementa?"

"Yes!"

"I don't know what that means."

"Your elementa is the fundamental base property of your magic. Most of your magic will go into that and related spells will be easier. You can have multiple but to have a fire elementa as a human is unheard of."

"Why is that isn't everyone's magic unique to them?"

"Yes, however certain species have an affinity that's easier for them to master. Humans are water-based creatures so water magic is well suited for them. However having fire as a human is the opposite and usually is related to creatures like dragons and dwarfs."

"Are you saying I'm part dragon or dwarf?"

"Unlikely. hybrids have magic from birth magic is a dominant trait so are the features of the species. If I had to guess you're more like 110% human. How odd "

"So I'm special?"

" I wouldn't go that far but you're certainly an oddity do you think you could replicate the spell I used"

"Ignition fists?"

"That's the one just remember how I did it and focus on that"

"Do I have to visualize something?"

"Guide your magic into the desired action. A spell just helps to give your magic form and direction."

"Okay I'll try it"

Hiro closes his eyes and is focused on the spell he saw Theo use. He didn't feel anything happening.

"Ignition fists"

Nothing happened. No fire, not even a spark of the feeling Hiro had whilst breaking the restrains was gone.

"Try focusing on the feeling that you had when you first felt your magic. Don't focus on the details. Magic is like a muscle as soon as you recognize it's there you can strengthen it."

"Okay I'll try"

Hiro closes his eyes and looks for the sensation he felt when you first used his elementa. It felt as if Hiro could sense every inch of his body. It felt as if it was waiting for something but then like a typhoon the sensation be gain to build slowly at first about his fingers then ignited into a raging inferno.

"IGNITION!!!!!!FISTSSSSSSS!!!!!!!"

Hiro's hands began to be engulfed by the flame burning up from his hands to the shoulder engulfing his arms in flame but unscathed.

"This...This is my magic?!??!! It's so dense and powerful but also light. I can't describe it!"

"Focus the fire into your hand and push it out away for you. But control it like a consistent flow of fire focused into a line. That spell is called ignition fist: inferno "

"That's a long name imma change it to flame shot."

"It won't work the same if you don't..."

"Flame shot!!!!"

A wave of fire shot out of Hiro's hand burning a hole through a tree.

"I suppose it does work the same. I suppose we take time to hone your magic and combat skills. It should be a lot easier now that your restraints aren't forcing back your magic."

I feel like I'm finally moving forward. I'm growing little by little step by step. Just wait until they see just what I can do. With this power, I'll finally be able to stand my ground. I'll get revenge on the creatures that burned down my village and conquer them all. Just wait until I unleash my full wrath upon you. Be ready elves I'm coming for you!!!
