P.O.V Zatland

" What the Fuck!" I said as my mind jolted awake.

"Here he comes. You explain to him since he's your son"

"yes, I was already planning too, let just wait till he acclimates."

"Mhhhhhhhh mhmhhh" I shook my aching head as the pain slowly left my mind and found myself in a dimly lit room.

My ears hallow and my vision shaky, my eyes finally rested on a table that stood in the center of the dimly lit room.

the lights came on, and I could see there was a couple figure standing in the room with me.

I got up, but I was already up, shocked at having noticed a few familiar old men.

The first shocking moment for me was when I at first noticed my father Frenor Zuallen staring at me wearily with a complicated smile on his face. I had heard his voice, but I couldn't believe my eyes.

My eyes most have grown wide, as my heart rate went up.

I kept my calm and walked up to an empty seat around the table. They all sat down as well.

They were my ancestors of about five previous generations, a great scientist, a chemist, a biologist, and an engineer, people who made outstanding contributions to the Earthling population, If not even more.

I hoped I was not dead because I was seriously underqualified too carry on a conversation with these people for all eternity.

Frenor Zuallen: how are you doing boy? do you miss me?

(Frenor said his voice deep)

Zatland Zuallen: ….hell no, who needs you.

I bantered harshly, but my father understood what I meant. I was just being tough in front of him, nothing else. My chest kind of hurt.

I did miss him a lot.

Frenor Zuallen: you remember your grandpas Khalib, Aval, Conner, and Luck.

He pointed to the few men.

I remembered them, I had been studying them for more than seven years of my life, being told of their great exploits. They didn't write their names in history, but the way my father told it, they should have done so.

Grandpa Khalib was a great scientist who helped in the enhancement of human genome technology.

His team furthered a way to advance the human genome project, they altered an assisted sympathetic nervous system enhancing drug, further made it more effective in the manipulation of the human bodies limit system. Causing an increase in adaptive surgical options in the military.

It was one of the most tremendous accomplishment in our family and should have made the family nova rich if he didn't have a severe gambling issue. And if his work wasn't outdated by several generations afterward.

Grandpa Khalib was a very unlucky scientist, kind of like Einstein if he got his discoveries updated upon once a year after he first made them. he unlocked a brand-new way of comprehending a problem, but after he did that it was like the man who invented the plus sign, mastering just a step in the process.

From then on people went on to learn algebra, then statistics, then geometry and science.

It was a massive discovery that paved the way, but then only happened to be a drop in the bucket of the world of further knowledge to be learned.

In scientific jargon, he invented the wheel.

Having his research surpassed and furthered upon by countless of other colleagues in the same generation, and by several, several generations afterward, he became a footnote in the history of his own contributions.

Even today advancement was being made in that field of science, and nobody saw a limit to the knowledge to be gained. Only a very select few would remember who the forefather of that knowledge was.

Grandpa Aval was once an engineer that did some work creating military weapons....till today not much about his work has been leaked to the public, but his contribution to the creation of the projectile laser weapons on airships was credited into the family's history of accomplishments. In the family it was said, his team created new weapons daily.

Constantly pushing on the limit of Ingenuity and madness, the weapon he was said to create, some of them were deemed too dangerous to ever be publicly talked about or leaked. And some of them went into cold storage for their impracticality.

My father told me Pa Avals accomplishments were heavily guarded secrets by the government, so he didn't receive much recognition for his work or Pay.

The only credit that could be given to him; were some vague words after his funeral, telling of vague accomplishment, and winning of military honors like a spy.

And that was after he had threatened them. While they had erased his name from history.

Not all parts of his accomplishments could be treated as a secret, especially when they managed to get out, at least part of them did.

….

Grandpa Conner was a neural biologist and brain surgeon. when not in surgery, he spent most of his years with his head buried in a book. Or doing experimentation on cadavers. He was said to be a little dark. And had many mental proclivities.

Not much history was recorded about him, but what made it through the suppression of information, gave hints to the facts that he may have been a mad scientist. And it was also rumored he may have spent his dying years in a prison.

My Father said he did, but that was only a rumor too the large circle of people that dared to research about him.

then there was the chemist Luck, my grandfather, his real name Was Dr. Jeffrey Zuallen, but people called him luck because of the way he died, he was caught in an explosion created by an experiment in his laboratory, when the dust settled, people found that he had created a new type of flexible metal alloy combination called Ge-lid .

No one was able to recreate his experiment, till this very day. but the metal was said to have plenty of viable uses for it….in large quantities.

People were still researching it today. To learn the metals composition, but no one was as lucky.

Finally my father, who was also a great scientist. he focused his field into pharmacology and was quite skilled at it. He hadn't done much in the advancement in that certain field, but only because of a lack of resources and prior knowledge.

Previously that field of science called pharmacology had stagnated because of humanities lack of a home planet. What was pharmacology without plants and minerals to study and manipulate, it was said in recent years he had been making waves before he died. He had some radical thoughts about the use of pharmaceuticals, and people thought he was a drug addict. But he wasn't, at least I did not think he was.

They found some weird pharmaceutics in his systems the night of his death. They said it may have caused his suicidal tendencies.

But that was wrong again, I knew what he took those drugs for, and it wasn't a bad reason at all. It was one of the reasons why his thought process was superhuman and fast. One of those reason why suicide seemed impossible because he was so euphoric.

Luck was my father's father, and Conner was my Fathers Father's Father? And so on. And they were all here in front of me in this room. The bad boys of the scientific world.

Or so they were called by those who knew of them.

"where am I?" I asked

My father Frenor Zuallen smiled at me and said: "Welcome to the Athenaeum, a place where the past generations of our family can pass on knowledge to the future generations.... this is the secret resource of our family, created at great sacrifice for the future generations."

(Secret resources-heritages passed down through the family upon the death of the father. It was usually a term for military families who passed on upgradable weapons throughout their generations. Which each generation adding unto the resource with modern technology to enhance its capabilities.)

"The resource that we pass on through the generations is our knowledge, all knowledge that we possess is up to your mind to unlock, and you are the sixth member to join."

Grandpa Khalib stepped forward enthusiastically "they say knowledge is power." He continued with a rambunctious smile.

I frowned at all of them "…what's with that, aren't you all dead?" I said a little hung up on that detail.

Grandpa Khalib responded to that slanting an eyebrow upwards. "Yes, but our wills are not yet dead."
