14 2780-Space City Iron Lake (044165)-Civilian Weapon

P.O.V Zatland

Why did he pause so much? Why did he hesitate so much?

He was standing there looking all so contemplative.

It was natural to have a gun in a military base, right?

He smiled at me and gave me a head nod, before going on his way, his face almost looking charming, after all that tension a moment ago.

I turned around and headed to the stalls with Zion, but now there were thoughts coursing through my brain as if they had been branded there.

Why was that guy so weird? Why did I get a sense of danger From him? Like he was looking at me like an ant.

The Gun? It was natural to have a gun, right?

Wait there was something wrong with the model, it was a police gun and not a military weapon, There were no police stationed on iron lake military base, senior officers were said to patrol and handle all the law enforcement here, as civilian officers could never Arrest military personnel.

Bases were a place of their own laws, and enforcement, no Civilian could ever measure up.

Because of some basic reasoning, a military officer who had experience adaptive upgrading would never be taken down by a civilian level gun.

A police gun was more of a weapon made to kill a Human criminal and not an advanced soldier.

{Zatland: Hey Zion did you see that guy I bumped into? Was he acting kind of weird?]

[Zion: what guy? I didn't see anything.]

[Zatland: ahh then never mind.]

Something felt wrong to me, as I got up and was ordering my food. I pulled Zion away from the stall, and we went running. I decided we needed to find that guy; something felt wrong.

Narrator

Zatland and Zion started walking in the direction of the six-foot-tall man with a gun, who was earlier seen walking towards the south direction.

They had to hurry up and see if Zatlands instincts were accurate.

When Zatland told Zion of his suspicious, Zion wanted to just ignore the situation, and move on with his life.

if it wasn't for Zatland, the ever proverbial leader of the two he wouldn't be pulled along. Zion didn't quite doubt Zatland instincts, but he felt it was nothing that they should have to mess with, as it was none of their business, even if the man was dangerous.

Even though the two of them had now decided to pursue the situation, they had let the man get a head start on them by several minutes, and he had gone out of sight. Zion didn't like the amount of work they had to put into the situation, potentially at the cost of their own safety.

While Civilian weapons couldn't kill or cause damage to an experienced office after adaptive training, Zatland had overlooked the fact that they hadn't completed adaptive training yet. They were stronger than the average civilian, but if they were filled with enough lead holes, they would still be gravely injured or die.

"what are we going to do now zoo? We can't be late for training, or you know what happens." Zion questioned.

In military training, people would be suspended for a year or steeply fined and punished. If they were late for their recruitment date. The punishments weren't anything short of hazing and had broken the resolve of many recruits.

They would pretty much be humiliated in front of everyone, including their peers and family, sometimes on a live broadcast.

Zatland wasn't worried so much, because the two of them had an excess of about two hours to get moving again; if they wanted to find the person, they had about two hours to look for the guy.

but how to look for someone in such congested streets, that was the question.

Iron lake had a population of at least 8 million people, that was more than the ancient city of Hong Kong China.

It was a good thing no one could drive through the streets of the iron lake Base, or they would have no hopes whatsoever.

Zatland remained silent thinking up a plan. He realized the weapon being a civilian gun, would be a hindrance to the user in many certain areas of the city.

He took out a map of places and located the more civilian filled areas.

Then he further narrowed down the search by hypothesizing possible motives.

He remembered when he bumped into the man.

the gun wasn't the only reason he thought the guy could be a military member, the way he moved seemed trained.

He narrowed it down to areas of nearby stores with large amounts of cash and residential areas of civilians. He knew that a trained person wouldn't try to rob a bank or an atm, only a civilian would believe they could get away with that.

If he was right, he might catch the man at one of these spots trying to do something bad, if he was wrong.

at least he tried his best, the man couldn't cause too much Collateral damage anyways. in Iron lake base.

If he caused a rampage in any of these areas, it would be someone else's problem to stop. Zatland was just playing a game of damage control, and mostly out of curiosity. It wouldn't take them roughly one hour to explore.

Zatland and Zion jogged through those areas, one a public park, then some large shopping centers and malls, and a few residential areas and apartment complexes In a five-mile radius. Nothing was found, not even a trace of the man with the gun.

Zatland was beginning to give up hope of finding the man, noting since when were his calculations ever so accurate in finding a person? Was he too overconfident?

...

Then suddenly in front of him passed a person who was similarly dressed like the man he saw earlier. The same shoes, same hat, and a dress coat. But a different face.

Was this a coincidence, that the two men within the same ten-mile radius were wearing the same outfit...

possible, but might as well follow him to be sure.

Zatland took Zion along, and they trailed the new person. Zatland began to notice some telltale signs that this person was scanning his surroundings as he walked forward.

Even Zion began noticing this and became serious, they were from a military academy, part of their training involved noticing suspicious behavior.

They fell back slightly, as they followed from a further distance.

They didn't want to allow the perp to notice them.

...

not long later they watched as the man entered an insurance company.

The boys exchanged looks with each other, before getting close to the building and gazing through the window. They saw the man pull something out of his coat before disappearing down a hall.

Zatland caught a quick glimpse of the edge of the object. It was the same color as the civilian model gun. He slowly let himself in, with Zion trailing behind him as they entered the building.

They entered the hallway... just in times to witness an execution.
