5 It's Him

As the vehicles slowly made their Muggle way through Saint Katherine's & Wapping, Hettie fidgeted inside the vehicle. It wasn't like magical cars, which were roomier inside than outside. And it certainly would not me moving at a snail's pace.

"Grandfather," she began, "Why do I have to be here for this meeting? I'm not part of the delegation. I'd rather be home than hanging out here. The air smells funny, and this is so slow!"

The old gentleman patted her knee. "Patience, Hettie. You're not a little girl anymore. I want you to visit other wizarding places and get a wider world viewpoint. London by far is the biggest hub there is in the wizarding world. And I have already called in a favor, so you can meet some people your own age. Being friends with people from powerful families is always a good thing." He sighed. "Someday I won't be here, and I don't want to see your talents wasted because you stayed in Switzerland. You are strong enough for more important things."

Hettie was surprised at her grandfather's serious tone. "Is something the matter with you?"

He shook his head and smiled. "No more than the usual aches and pains. But recently things have been…unsettled…and this meeting is proof that change in on the horizon. And we need to be sure to stay on top of the news. You're almost seventeen years old, and in your final year at Beauxbatons, so it's high time you look to your career and future."

She sunk back down into her seat and rested her head against his shoulder. "I just hope you aren't matchmaking, Grandpa. Because I want to stay with you forever."

He just sat quietly and stared out the window, a tiny smile on his wizened face.

After almost an hour, the entourage finally arrived outside The Royal Horseguards building. When the car came to a stop, the door was opened from the outside. "This way, sir, miss."

Hettie climbed out first, taking the proffered hand without seeing who it was. Once she straightened out, she looked up into warm hazel eyes.

"It's you!" It was the tall boy from the docks.

He nodded. "Yes, Miss. Special Officer Zachary Potter." He turned to the young wizard next to him. "Fred, please escort Miss Adelgrief to the Gardens." The boy eagerly stepped forward, nearly stumbling before he realized it. He schooled his features and gave a bow.

"This way, miss." She walked past him before taking a quick look back. The tall boy was still staring at her, a little sparkle dancing in his eye. She flipped her hair and turned, hoping he didn't notice her looking back.

'Potter…Potter.' She thought. "I wonder if he's part of that wizarding family." Although his first name did not sound familiar, she knew the famous Destroyer had married a strong witch and had children enrolled in Hogwarts. Was he one of them? She glanced at the boy next to her. Maybe he would have the answers.
