29 Startled

Mina opened her eyes slowly, them bursting open a moment later. She rolled away from the beautiful tan girl, although she almost immediately regretted it. She felt a tug that made her want to be next to her.

"K-Kat?"

She was still asleep, remarkably. Mina looked around, though the room was a blank white slate. Her eyes narrowed on the sleeping beauty, almost making her lay back down beside her. Instead, Mina simply knelt beside her and stared. Many thoughts flashed through her head, but none made sense.

'Why is she here? How long was I sleeping beside her? Where are we? Did I die again? How does she look so damn pretty when she's sleeping?!'

Mina finally laid back down, scooting as close as she could to Kat. She pulled one of her arms around her smaller waist, enjoying the touch of someone else.

"Why can I touch you?"

Mina felt tears in her eyes, but nuzzled closer to Kat. The warmth made her head spin, though it wasn't anything she hated. Before she could stop herself, Mina looked directly at Kat and kissed her. As there was no reaction, she pouted a little. She was almost desperate for Kat's attention, even just her voice.

"Why did I forget you? Why do I have these beautiful, fond memories of you? Why... do I feel sad right now?"

A voice resounded in her head. It was her own, but she didn't recognize herself saying it.

'Why did you have to die?'

The tears spilled forth as she drew closer, placing her head against Kat's chest. She sobbed heavily, not realizing that Kat had woken. She looked down, startled by the crying Mina. Desiring to calm her, Kat began to pat her head. She stroked her hair with all the love one might expect from her. Before long, Mina had calmed down. Kat began to believe she fell asleep, but Mina looked up at her. Directly face to face, the two of them turned a light shade of red.

"Kat..."

Mina couldn't resist, she kissed Kat once more. This time, Kat kissed back. They let each other melt in their embrace, the warmth between the two capable of melting any frozen heart. When they finally stopped, Mina spoke bluntly.

"You're Dyna, aren't you?"

"Wh-what? Why do you think that?"

Mina gave her a bright smile.

"Dyna has only ever been kind to me, and your hand. They felt the same. Also, the room."

Kat just sat her face in her hand.

"You really shouldn't even know this. I wanted you to get strong enough to protect yourself before we reunited."

"So... my memories aren't fake. Good to know... but is there a reason I haven't no recollection of us before coming here?"

Kat grabbed Mina hands, interlocking their fingers.

"Ryder. I went to deal with him one night, after he hurt you. I took too long and got shot. I ended up here, meeting an old bastard. Broke his damn nose, then came down into the magical world that's here. I was told to mold it however I saw fit, becoming the Goddess of Creation in the process. You used to love playing fantasy games when we hung out, so I made it like that."

"That voice... no wond-"

Mina suddenly felt her mind shift, a sudden burst of memories and pain. She remembered meeting Kat, becoming friends and lovers, then losing her. She remembered crying herself into a state of sickliness, practically dying as she mourned.

"Kat... how long have you been here?"

"Time is different here, but let's say that I've watched you from here the entire time. I may not look it, but I'm older than you now."

Mina glared at Kat, lunging and pinning her.

"You go and die, leaving me alone with Ryder and torturing yourself here?! All alone?! Where is the old bastard? It's cause of him that you didn't drag me-"

Kat was giggling under Mina, her body shaking and causing Mina to slide down on top of her.

"Don't get so mad. You're too cute to be scary... without your swords anyways."

Mina huffed, her eyes going wide as Kat rolled her over. Kat's larger body now covered hers.

"Kat... your boobs are annoying."

Mina blushed as she looked down at the bikini clad peaks crushing her.

"Oh well. They get to annoy you, cause you're not allowed to look lewd."

"Not allowed? Is that why you're always wearing bikini tops and shorts? Because you're allowed?"

Kat winked.

"I just liked it when you stared. Everyone else would piss me off."

Mina looked away, but her hands held onto Kat.

"Jerk... always flirting with me like this. Why did I never jump on the chance to be with you? Ryder was a waste of time and space. Even like this, I actually feel like I want to be with you. I never felt desire for him."

Kat sat up, pulling Mina with her.

"Hearts are stupid. I'm just glad ours felt the same way."

Kat gave a toothy grin, her little fang poking out as sharp as ever.

"You suck at being romantic, just be flirty."

Kat's mouth gaped.

"So mean! Whatever..."

She gave Mina another smile, but it faded.

"You have to pretend you don't know who I am still. You've also got to get stronger. Someday, I can walk with you in that forest. When that day comes, I'll need to rely on you. My power... it's weaker there. I'm merely mortal besides teleportation and the ability to touch spirits."

Mina's eyes lit up.

"So I get to protect you then? Sign me up! I'll get as strong as I can. I... I need you Kat. You're the only reason I've ever felt so elated and relaxed... though I'm pretty sure I'd be incredibly horny if my body allowed it."

Kat turned bright red.

"You're too honest! Holy hell Mina! You just... you just go. We can talk again when you sleep. You've got a dungeon to beat, right?"

Mina nodded, suddenly vanishing from the room.

"You go girl! I'll need my Valkyrie at my side. Just wish you weren't so blunt... my face is still on fire."
