Chapter 15 | Exam Day - Written Test (2/5)

Sitting at a desk, I looked around to see no one sitting beside me. Looking around the room I noticed that every student was sitting with an empty seat on either side.

'Oh! It must be the exam format.' I realized as I remember one of the professors going over how the test was going to happen, though, in the end, I had slept through most of it.

Funnily enough, most of the other students seemed to be on edge, probably worrying about the test. Heck, I spotted Syrus praying to a card a few rows down.

On the other hand, there were very few students actually looking calm, Sabastian and Alexis included. Then again they are some of the top students and could probably take higher grade tests. In fact, I could probably take this test blindfolded and still pass with flying colours.

Shaking my head, I waited for the exam to begin. Eventually, professor Crowler walked in with a few other people and began explaining the test.

''Now students, I'll begin explaining the Exam procedure!'' He shouted loudly snapping a few students going over answers in their head, out of a dazed state.

''First off, Let's introduce these lovely people behind me.'' Crowler gestured to the small group of people behind him. One of them was a woman with bobbed hair and a beret.

''I am the Chairman of the Disciplinary Action Squad and you will address me as such. Behind me are my fellow members and we will act as the proctor for this exam! If you are caught cheating you will immediately expelled.'' The woman introduced herself with a loud and strict tone, not even giving anyone a chance to ask questions.

'Well, at least she knows how to make an impression...' I quipped in my head, hearing her introduction and piercing eyes.

In fact, even Crowler looked a little tense around her, which was quite apparent when you noticed he wasn't giving Jaden a hard time or gloating about his degree.

After finishing her introduction, she stepped back and allowed Crowler to continue speaking.

''Aghm, well then back to the exam. You will have exactly 2 and a half hours to complete your exam which is being distributed to you right now by the members of the Disciplinary Action Squad. If you fail to write your name on the paper or continue writing after the time is up, it will be considered an automatic fail, so do be careful. Once you finish, walk up to the front and hand in your test, however, if you finish within the final 10 minutes, you must wait at your desk until the time ends.'' Crowler explained as the test paper was distributed.

''Your time starts now!'' Crowler said loudly starting the 2 hour and thirty minute timer.

Looking down I wrote my name on the front page and flipped through the papers.

'Urgh... 6 papers?' I complained inwardly, luckily 2 or 3 of those pages were just true or false questions. And even the longer ones were just broad questions that could be answered easily as long as you explained yourself, well at least for me.

Seriously, how the hell did people from this world have difficulty with this!? Especially considering Duel Monsters become much more complicated in my world... Sometimes I wondered how the hell people here could pass middle school but couldn't explain how to counter a trap card.

Cracking my fingers, I began to blitz through the test questions, gathering a few suspicious glares from some of the test proctors who thought I might somehow be cheating with how quickly I was going through the questions.

***

Finishing the last page I sat back down allowing the tension to leave my body, completely unconcerned about the test proctor who was scrutinizing me for any signs I was cheating.

Checking the time, I noticed I still had over an hour and a half before the examination ended.

Cleaning up my papers, I stood up and handed in my test to Crowler.

''You're already done!?'' He looked through my tests to make sure I had answered everything with a surprised expression with a surprised expression.

''Student!'' the Chairman called out walking towards me.

Turning our gazes both Crolwer and I looked in her direction.

''You are forbidden from getting up unless you are finished. If you are asking a question sit back down and raise your hand.'' She glared at me.

Realizing she had misunderstood something, Crowler stepped in. ''Madam Chairman, this student has finished his test.'' He tried to explain.

The Chairman hearing this, seemed to make another misunderstanding, ''Tch, to give up before even an hour of the test... Get out, don't distract the rest of the students who are actually trying.'' She shook her head in disapproval and turned her head with a disappointed expression.

''Ok,'' I answered nonchalantly, ignoring the Chairman's disapproving glare, and walked out to the next testing area. However, I'd probably have to wait for a while considering the practical test was a duel with another student and I would have to wait until that other student actually finished.

Walking through the halls I caught sight of a familiar face.

''Hey, Jaden!'' I called out.

''Huh!?'' Jaden nearly tripped over himself as he did a double take and slowed down.

''Hey there Illumi, you late too?'' He asked jogging in place.

''Nope,'' I shook my head, ''Actually, I just finished.'' I explained.

''Huh?... was it that easy?'' Jaden asked with an expression mixed with surprise and a bit of relief.

''For me at least, but you actually have to do the test to figure it out.'' I pocked at him.

''Hey, not nice. I was helping out someone whose car broke down!'' Jaden countered defensively, causing me to chuckle.

''Sure~ sure~ by the way, the answers to questions 5, 8, 9, 12, 15, and 16 are all B,'' I said with a smile, after all, I could help him this much.

Hearing me, Jaden's face brightened and he shot me a smile, ''Oh~ thanks for the help, bud!'' Jaden said before running off, all the while chanting ''5, 8, 9, 12, 15, and 16'' to himself trying to memorize it.

Hearing that, I muffled a snicker and continued on my way.
