47 Was Aware

In the palace, the servants were doing their works accordingly. One of the places where the servants were trimming big bonsai trees, were filled with discussions and spread rumours.

"Hey, did you hear it?"

"The rumours?" The servant that was asked was weeping the leaves on the ground.

"Mm-hmm, from what I heard, the princess and Prince Shen are going to be engaged."

"Really? I heard something else, but it seems like what you heard was true. Outside, they said that Prince Shen had been very kind to the princess, he even bought her a gift that was 55,000 silver coins!"

"55,000 silver coins!? I wish I could have that much money..."

"What are you talking about? Not only you, but all of us want that amount of money, too."

----

The emperor was now reading documents in his study. Looking through the tower-like pill of papers, Tang Tian signed. His kingdom was just a small one but the work of the emperor was already this much, how much works did those larger nations' monarchs had to do?

In the midst of silence, a black shadow appeared. "Your Majesty!"

"Any reports?"

"Yes!" The man in black said after giving Tang Tian his salute. "There are rumours outside about Princess You Yan and Prince Shen. It's about how they are treating each other like a couple and that they're going to marry."

A couple? Marriage? Tang Tian suddenly frown instead of smiling in satisfied. Something was wrong, it didn't appear favorable. His daughter would not match up with Song Hui Yao even if there were ten of Tang Rue and he was certain that Song Hui Yao wouldn't like someone like his daughter.

Although he pampered Tang Rue as she was his only daughter, he was fully aware of what kind of person she was. Sometimes, he wished that his daughter could improve her personality because her behaviors could cost him a lot of troubles.

Tang Tian was worried that something dreadful would happen and sighed deeply. He did want Song Hui Yao to be his son-in-law, however, he would not feel joy but afraid instead if such a thing actually happened.

More precisely, he wanted Song Hui Yao to have some connection with his kingdom. So if something akin to war broke out, Song Hui Yao would protect his little kingdom.

-----

Song Hui Yao right now was walking slightly sluggishly to his room. He planned to just be nice to her, but the auction thing… it had made lousy rumours outside.

He then went to take a bath and relieved his frustration. Just as he took a seat, Yin Yi came.

"Master."

"Hmm?"

"About two months ago, the master of the Zheng Family was injured by the Clime Quintessence Shrine. If it wasn't for Shangguang Ling, he would still be bedridden."

"Why attack him? The Zheng Family had become low-key..." Song Hui Yao knitted his brows faintly.

"From what this subordinate found, they claimed that the reason they attacked him was that he rudely refused to be their ally." Yin Yi kept his head down.

His eyes narrowed as he was contemplating deeply. It could not just be because the Zheng Family's Headmaster refused to have an alliance with them. The Clime Quintessence Shrine wouldn't do something so dumb and lame like that for just a refusal. Something was up with the Zheng Family, but it wasn't his business.

"And Master, the Lord asked when will you return the Countenance Altering book back to the fane." Not looking at his master, Yin Yi said.

'...' Not yet...

Song Hui Yao ignored Yin Yi and turned to look out the window. A while later, he left his room to go to where Zhu Xiao Wan was. He had left her on grass plain again; even though she could see, Zhu Xiao Wan still wanted to be on the grass plain.

Zhu Xiao Wan was watching the horizon while sitting on the grass, she turned her head when she heard the grass rustled like someone was walking on them. "Song Hui Yao."

He nodded slightly before sitting himself down and looked at Zhu Xiao Wan. As their eyes locked, he asked: "Tomorrow will be the emperor's birthday, are you sure you're going to come with me?"

"I'm sure."

"So, are you going to go there as my sister?"

"I can?" She raised her eyebrows.

Song Hui Yao gazed at the grass, "Yes. I can just say that you are my sister, but have weak health and that you cannot walk. Because of that, you have not been out to the public."

"What about the emperor? You have been here for years, right?"

Years...he wasn't here for that long...it was only around five years...Song Hui Yao lifted his head slightly as his gaze was looking down on the grass. "He wouldn't dare to question my business."
