"Are you really fine with this?" Nathaniel asked as he pressed his forehead on Maya's.

The doctors had already come and gone, changing Maya's bandages and checking on the stitching. Luckily it hadn't torn with all the excitement over the news.

"Yes," Maya responded with a nod. She could see the worry in Nathaniel's eyes, this wasn't something they had talked about again, but at the same time they hadn't done anything to prevent it.

"It's not in our plans," Nathaniel whispered.

"It's not, but that doesn't mean I don't want to have more children with you," she said as she felt her cheeks heating up at the confession.

"Children," Nathaniel hummed, his thoughts clearly floating to the idea of Maya and him having their own family, a dream they once shared. "How many?"

Maya chuckled as he asked. 

"I once told you just one," she confessed.
