DLR Enterprises

Maya stood outside the towering skyscraper that housed DLR Enterprieses' headquarters in the state of Franklin.

She asked for time off this morning so that she could personally apologize to the President's assistant, Mr. Clark Thomas.

"Miss Miller, are you here to see Mr. Wright or Mr. Woods?" the receptionist at the lobby asked as she approached.

Over the years she had made multiple visits to have lunch or simply work alongside Jay and Oliver even if the two men never truly got along.

She knew that Oliver associated Jay with Nate and despised him, but Jay was there for her when Nate left and they had become a very good friend over the past five years.

"I'm here to see Mr. Woods," Maya declared as the receptionist handed her a pass.

Behind her, Nathaniel saw Maya entering an elevator, he grinned as he watched her leave.

Maya on the other hand was clueless to the fact that Nathaniel was visiting his own company under the guise of Nate Rue. Returning resident to Arlington City looking for whatever job he could get.

She didn't have to walk far into Jay's floor when she bumped into Oliver and Jay.

"Maya—" Oliver gasped when he saw her.

"I'm not here for you Oliver, I said we will speak next time." She quickly said as she turned her attention to Jay.

The other man had his head bowed as he pretended to be busy at work.

Maya hated the fact that Jay had Oliver as a boss, she knew Oliver picked on him but she couldn't do anything about it.

It was a different company and Jay refused to leave DLR Enterprises.

"Jay, I need your help." Maya began to say before Oliver interrupted her.

"Surely you realize that I can help you better than Mr. Woods can," Oliver rudely pointed out, making Maya frown. "He is ranked much lower than I am at DLR Maya. You're quite smart, I'm sure you realized that."

"I said I need Jay's help and not yours," May said in a blunt tone, making Jay grin.

"And what do you think Jay can help you with that I can't?" Oliver questioned as he crossed his arms on his chest. "Do you really think I'm that incapable, Maya?"

Maya rolled her eyes, annoyed that Oliver kept insisting that he could help her.

She didn't want his help mainly because he would use it against her. He would ask for her to accompany him to lunch or dinner in exchange for his help.

"Can you help me fix things with Nate Rue?" she asked with a cunning smile.

This might not have been her initial intent, but she knew that this would be enough to piss Oliver off and to get him off of her case.

"You—you—even after what he did to you?!" Oliver questioned as he balled his fists, clearly holding himself back.

"Jay, a word?" Maya asked as she gestured for him to come aside with her.

Jay simply grinned and nodded as he followed her a little bit out of Oliver's earshot.

"That's not what you wanted to ask, is it?" Jay shook his head and smiled. He knew that there was no way that Maya would want to beg Nate to take her back.

"Of course not," she scoffed. "I just don't want to owe Oliver a favor, especially not after the engagement party fiasco."

"So what is it?"

"I want to apologize to Mr. Clark Thomas, the President's assistant," Maya declared. "I was rude to him at Primus Hotel and as pissed of as I am at Oliver, he shouldn't suffer cause of that."

Jay wanted to laugh.

Maya's actions didn't put Oliver in a bad position, Oliver being himself placed Oliver in a bad position.

He wanted to tell Maya that there was no need to apologize to Clark since she was the President's ex-girlfriend that he had come all the way to Arlington to win back. But alas Nathaniel had made him swear not to tell Maya the truth.

Nathaniel had other plans, and Jay didn't want to mess with them.

"Well, can you?" Maya asked Jay when he didn't respond.

"He doesn't have to, Miss Miller," Clark said as he appeared behind Maya.

Maya was caught off guard as the President's assistant miraculously appeared behind her.

Of course, all of this was no accident as Nathaniel had called to inform Clark that Maya had gone up to see Jay and wanted to make sure that she faced no problems while at DLR.

"Mr. Thomas, I came here to apologize," Maya said as she bowed from her waist down at the assistant in front of her. "I was rash at Primus Hotel and I let my emotions get the best of me. I should not have behaved in such a crude manner."

Clark sighed and shook his head.

Maya thought it was because she had done something so uncultured and rude at Primus Hotel that he had sighed. But in truth, Clark was lamenting how she would someday be the lady boss and shouldn't have to apologize for anything.

"It's a small matter Miss Miller—" Clark began to say when Oliver suddenly jumped into the conversation, desperately trying to act as Maya's knight in shining armor.

"Mr. Thomas it was my fault! I take full responsibility for what happened!" Oliver quickly told Clark.

Maya rolled her eyes, annoyed that Oliver had interrupted their conversation. It was clear that it didn't bother Mr. Thomas at all.

"Very well, Mr. Wright," Clark said as Jay grinned behind Maya.

Jay knew that Clark was going to use this opportunity to make Oliver's work a little bit harder. He didn't care if it was unprofessional, this man was his boss's romantic rival.

"You will be demoted one rank," Clark said with a grin.

Oliver's face fell in shock as he heard what Clark said. He didn't think that an assistant had that much power, then again, Clark was the President's assistant.

"And Mr. Woods, the boss would like to see you in his office later after work. Please don't be late, he's not a patient man."

With that, Clark left with a smile on his face while Jay was eager to tell Nathaniel about what went down between Oliver and Clark.
