41 As if we never met

After the call went through, not many rings rang before Shen Qian Yun's voice flooded the phone. Gu Xiao Xiao's tone subconsciously turned much more feminine and spoiled as she talked about her plans on going home for a few days.

Usually, every year, Gu Xiao Xiao goes back home with Mu Yun Fan. For her to ask to go home so soon made Shen Qian Yun overthink.

"Why are you thinking of coming home all of a sudden? Gu Xiao Xiao, did something happen?" Shen Qian Yun's caring voice arose from the other side of the line.

"Nothing happened. I just miss you." Gu Xiao Xiao held onto Chu Xiao Xi's hand and stared at the path she was walking on, "I have my internship now and I cannot go back during winter break. I am lucky to have two weeks off now so I wanted to go back and visit. Plus, I have a friend who wants to check out our area as well. It'll be like a short trip."

"Then, alright. Tell me in advance before you come. Grandma will cook your favorite dish, sweet and sour pork."

"Thanks grandma! I will let you know once I buy my train ticket!"

After hanging up happily, Gu Xiao Xiao looked over to Chu Xiao Xi with a dumb smile.

"All set?" Chu Xiao Xi asked. After Gu Xiao Xiao nodded, she raised an eyebrow and grinned, "Then let us go tomorrow!"

They walked along the small street and headed towards Chu Xiao Xi's car in the parking lot.

Chu Xiao Xi drove her low key Volkswagen today. Because this car doesn't look much different from other cars and Gu Xiao Xiao is not someone who knows much about cars, she had no idea just how much this car is valued at. She thought it was at most several hundred thousand, and had no idea it was worth more than two million.

"Gu Xiao Xiao."

Just as Gu Xiao Xiao opened the door and was about to enter, a familiar voice rose from behind, petrifying Gu Xiao Xiao's body.

Gu Xiao Xiao didn't move one inch. Chu Xiao Xi looked over towards the source of the sound and saw Mu Yun Fan.

Chu Xiao Xi has known Gu Xiao Xiao for three years and therefore has known Mu Yun Fan for three years as well. Though she doesn't necessarily like him, she never disliked him. Because from all aspects, Mu Yun Fan was considered a good person. Plus, he was with Gu Xiao Xiao for so many years, therefore, Chu Xiao Xi didn't have much to say.

You may think you know someone but you often only know how they look not how they think. Such a gentle and studious looking person who has been more than nice to Gu Xiao Xiao in appearance has done so many disrespectful things behind her back.

Mu Yun Fan was heading straight towards Gu Xiao Xiao. His footsteps stopped right behind her and he ignored Chu Xiao Xi's existence. He said softly, "I'm not going home with you this year for New Year's. but I have bought a ticket for you. Here."

Mu Yun Fan's words made Gu Xiao Xiao's nose tingle.

Three years in City B, she has always gone home with Mu Yun Fan every break. He buys the tickets, he shows her the way, and as long as Gu Xiao Xiao follows behind him and holds his hand, she can without a doubt, get home safely.

Sadly, this was all in the past.

"Thanks, but I have no plans to spend New Year's at home this year." Inhaling deeply, Gu Xiao Xiao forced a smile and gave Mu Yun Fan a look. "You can return the ticket. I don't need it."
