10 The ideal type

The next Sunday arrived within a blink of an eye. Yul was up early in the morning. Subin chose his clothes and styled his hair as he couldn't let the other embarrass himself before his crush.

They had to wait for a while before both of their names were announced simultaneously. They headed down towards the announcer's cabin.

As any usual Sunday, it was flooded with relatives. Yul had been anticipating to see the face for so long that he immediately recognised the person from afar. Subin traced his sight and saw the intern. He was wearing a full sleeve, red and white check shirt with a black undershirt. Yul was about to call him when Subin covered his mouth and dragged him back. Yul resisted at first as he couldn't understand why the other was delaying their visit.

"You need to change your clothes," Subin said, dragging him to their room.

Yul frowned, "But you were the one who chose them for me and they look pretty good."

Subin ignored his friend as he rummaged through his bag and took out a long sleeve shirt with blue and white checks and a black undershirt.

"Tada! Couple outfits," he presented them with a gummy smile.

"You are a fu¢king genius," Yul punched Subin on the arm in appreciation and snatched the shirts.

"I know," Subin said rubbing his arm, his head held up high in pride. "Now, hurry up. My mum must also be waiting in the garden area."

They both arrived back at the announcer's cabin. Zeng was leaning on a wall, checking his watch. "Hey," Yul called out. Zeng looked up to see the smiling face of trainee number 85.

"You look nice," Yul complimented, unlike his last time. The word 'decent' had been banned from his dictionary since last week.

"Oh, are we wearing the same outfits? What a coincidence!" Zeng said smiling, looking back and forth between their shirts Then he saw another familiar person a bit taller than Yul, standing beside him.

"Hello! You must be Subin. Yul talked about you last time. Nice to meet you," he offered a handshake and Subin took it, "It's my pleasure, Zeng ge."

Yul observed as Zeng gave his best friend the same sweet smile that he usually received and even saw the pink dust on his cheeks.

'What's happening?'

The half-Korean guy bid them goodbye and ran off to the academy garden to meet his mum. Yul had been too stunned to see the interaction. A pout now appeared on his face as it dawned upon him.

Zeng snapped fingers before him, "Yul, is something wrong? I have been calling you but you weren't responding."

Yul shook his head, "Sorry, I was a bit distracted. Shall we go?" And the two went towards the parking lot. On the way, again a group of girls greeted them. Some even dared to come and ask for Zeng's phone number. He politely rejected them with an apologizing smile.

By the time they exited the Academy's main gate, Yul felt extremely insecure. He knew that it wasn't right to feel this way so soon as they were not in a relationship. There was nothing that bound Zeng to him and there was nothing he could do about it no matter how jealous he was. He didn't want to pry on what was bothering him. But by the time they settled into Zeng's car, he just couldn't keep it to himself.

"Did you blush seeing Subin?" He tried keeping his voice as casual as possible so that the other won't feel offended.

"I did? Ah, it's embarrassing," Zeng shrugged it off.

"So you really did," Yul couldn't control the edge in his tone.

Zeng gave a nod as he adjusted the front mirror and questioned instead, "Remember when I told you that you are not my type?"

It took a while for Yul to understand what it meant and then the realisation hit him, "Don't tell me!" He threw his hands over his head, "He is your type?" He asked, freaking out.

Zeng pursed his lips and nodded. "Well, he is charming and has a pretty smile. As you have told me last time, he is funny yet a responsible guy. And the most important thing, he has dimples." Zeng dipped his fingers in his cheeks. "So yeah, if we don't consider his age, he is exactly my type." He explained everything as a matter of fact.

Yul rolled his eyes and slumped back in his seat, a sulk pasted over his face. "I suddenly feel so betrayed," he said miserably.

Zeng giggled. To him, this guy was really cute when he did anything that didn't match his stone-cold face. "Don't be," he muttered, "Liking someone from afar and actually being with that person are two different things. Moreover, you are the one sitting here with me, not him."

A fuzzy, warm feeling swept over Yul as the muscles of his tensed forehead relaxed. His lips twitch in a small smile and his pale cheeks pinkened. Zeng was amused to see how this cold face could manage so many reactions, so many expressions. Strangely, he wanted to see more of them.

Zeng decided to play with the trainee some more and cheekily asked, "So, is your friend available?"

"Zeng ge!!!" Yul whined.

Zeng snorted. It was so easy to rule him up like this. "Sorry, sorry, just kidding," he laughed it off, "Don't worry, I am not into younger guys, no matter how perfectly they match my type." Then he looked up at Yul. "You are the exception though," he added smiling.

Yul's heart clenched at that. There it was, that damned smile that even Subin didn't get to experience. It was only for him and it made him feel warm at once.

His possessive side made a note to self that while he shared most things with his best friend, he would leave this detail out because knowing how obnoxious Subin was, he would laugh his a$$ off and definitely rub it in Yul's face, teasing him about it every single day like the little devil he was.

No, he cannot let that happen. This would stay in between them. Subin didn't need to know.
