50 Mutual Understanding Between Smart Individuals

"Welcome home, Andrea, Ciel, Kate," Vincent greeted them with a smile on his face. He then walked up to his wife and kissed her cheeks. "Sorry, I have to take care of something at the company and I can't stay for long."

"Be sure to be back before dinner, do you understand?" Andrea asked while fixing the tie on her husband's suit. Vincent nodded his head and planted another kiss on his wife's forehead.

"I'll see the three of you at dinner," Vincent said before leaving the dining room. After his meeting, he rushed back home to check on his wife. He didn't even have time to eat lunch and spent his break traveling back home. This was how much Vincent loved his wife, and Andrea knew it.

Looking at her husband's retreating figure, Andrea heaved a sigh. She knew that she couldn't be selfish. Her husband was doing his best for their company, while she accompanied the kids. A smile played on her lips as she thought of a way to reward her husband for all of his hard work.

They had been away from each other for so many months. Even Andrea was looking forward to spending some 'quality time' with the man she married.

"Kate, can you still move?" Andrea asked the younger girl who had her eyes closed and rubbed her contented belly.

"Mama Andrea, please give me five minutes," Kate replied. "I will be able to walk by then."

Andrea chuckled as she shook her head. "Good. I still have things to take care of. Ciel, please watch over her."

"I will, Mother," Ciel nodded his head. "I'll make sure that she doesn't take another bite of food."

Kate narrowed her eyes and looked at Ciel with a face filled with injustice. She had the "I'm not a pig" expression on her face, but Ciel only brushed it off with a smirk. He even lifted one of his eyebrows as if telling her "Not a pig? Who are you kidding?"

The two had a staring contest while the maids cleared up the table. Olivia could only smile wryly at the two. With a glance, she could tell that her Young Master's and Young Lady's relationship had become closer during their trip to the countryside.

'I wonder what happened?' Olivia thought. 'I'll just ask Kate later for more details.'

When Kate felt that she could finally move, she stood up and walked gingerly back to her room. Truth be told, she was exhausted from the trip and wanted to sleep. However, due to her bulging belly, she would have to wait an hour or two before she could take a nap.

Ciel followed her until she safely reached her room before going back to his own. He too wanted to rest. Unlike Kate, Ciel only ate sparingly because he didn't want to go to sleep feeling bloated. Of course, he didn't plan to sleep right away. He planned to give Chloe a call and chat with her for a few minutes.

His "Little Sister" asked him to give her a call as soon as he could. Ciel could already imagine the young girl sitting beside the telephone waiting for his call. He knew that it would be best not to keep her waiting, or else Claire would nag him.

Meanwhile, Inside Kate's room…

Kate and Stella were having a heart to heart talk. They were debating whether they should let Ciel know of Stella's existence. Back at the countryside, Stella came out to tease Ciel. However, she didn't expect the younger boy to surprise her when he asked "Are you really Kate?".

Although there was an unwritten promise between the two of them that they would "talk later" it never came to fruition. Stella decided to not come out for the time being and observe Ciel's stance on the matter. Ciel, on the other hand, didn't pursue the matter and acted normally. It was as if he was waiting for Kate (and Stella) to tell him of their own accord.

'What do you think?'

[I don't know. Do we gain any advantage by telling him of my existence?]

'No, but don't you want to talk to him?'

[I do, but that doesn't necessarily mean that I need to meet him personally,] Stella said. [Things might get complicated if he meets me.]

'Don't you trust him?' Kate asked. 'I trust him.'

Kate trusted Ciel as much as she trusted Stella. If possible, she wanted the two of them to meet each other.

After a short pause, Stella finally replied from their shared mindscape. [I trust Darling, but I feel that now is not the time to meet him.]

'Then when is the right time?'

[When the right time comes.]

Kate massaged her temple. I asked you "When is the right time?" and you answer me with "When the time is right." Are you making fun of me? Do you really think I'm stupid?

A peal of laughter sounded inside their shared mindscape. Truth be told, she really wanted to let Ciel know of her existence, but something was telling her that now was not the right time. For some reason, she had a feeling that Ciel also understood this. That was why he didn't pursue the matter and just let it be.

Stella smiled wryly at the thought of her and Ciel sharing a secret that even Kate didn't know. This was a mutual understanding between smart individuals.

[Mutual understanding is the main backbone of every happy relationship,] Stella muttered.

'Huh? What are you talking about? What mutual understanding?' Kate asked with suspicion. 'Are you hiding something from me? Did you and Ciel talk about something that I didn't know about?"

[How could that even be possible? How could I possibly talk to Ciel without you knowing it?]

'Hum, you're hiding something from me Stella. Out with it!'

Stella scratched her head. How come this glutton had a very strong intuition when it came to matters involving Ciel? Is she some kind of esper?

Stella just laughed it off and teased Kate for being paranoid. Although Kate felt that something was amiss, she didn't dig too deep into the matter. Afterall, Stella wouldn't do something that would harm her.

After a long debate, the two decided to put the matter on hold until a later time. The exam of Saint Claire Academy was just around the corner. They should focus their attention on that matter first, and reconsider sharing their secret with Ciel after they safely passed the exam.
