152 A Timely Rescue

"I know that this may sound out of place, but…," Ethan scanned his surroundings. "Are we lost?"

Claire bit her lip as she looked at the diverging paths in front of her. She had always followed the "always go right rule", but they had been walking for an hour already and the exit was still nowhere in sight.

They had arrived at this exact location for the fourth time, and Claire was feeling frustrated. How did they know that this was the same place? The answer was simple. Claire felt that they were going around in circles. In order to test her theory she left a marking on the small resting place where the three paths diverged.

Each time they came here, they chose a different path. However, the results were the same. They still ended in the same location after more than thirty minutes of walking.

"Should we call for help?" Ethan suggested. "I have my mobile phone with me."
