37 A Day in the Kerr Residence [Part 1]

When lunch came, Kate was dazzled by a wide array of delicacies that were lined up on the table. Emily prepared a feast fit for a king and even Alice was impressed with the sight before her eyes. Alice glanced at her friend who had a smug look on her face. The two old women shared knowing glances and nodded their heads in understanding.

"I asked our chiefs to prepare all of these foods for you girls," Emily gestured at the food that was lined up on the table. "Eat as much as you want. I guarantee that all of them are delicious!"

"""Thank you, Grandma!"""" the three girls replied in unison.

Kate's eyes wandered around the dining table. She couldn't make up her mind on which delicacy she should start first. Ethan, who was watching her from the side, decided to help her out. Even he was surprised by the feast that his grandmother had prepared to impress Kate.

He saw British, French, Chinese, and Western cuisines that he had tried before in the past. He knew what they taste like and gave Kate some of his recommendations.

"I don't know if you have eaten lamb before, but this roasted Lamb Salad with Fregola is good," Ethan used his knowledge to name the delicacies on the table that he was familiar with. "The one over there is called 'Coquilles Saint-Jacques'. They are scallops with sauteed mushrooms, and creamy wine sauce topped with cheese. They are very good appetizers."

"How about that dish over there?" Kate asked. "What is it called?"

"Those are Chinese Spring Rolls. They are also very good!"

"How about this one?"

"That is…"

Ethan took time to name and describe the dishes to Kate. He also didn't neglect Chloe and Claire's question and answered all of them. Emily nodded her head in approval. She was very happy with her grandson's way of entertaining his guests. As expected of the grandson she personally raised!

Kate ate, ate, and ate. She tried a bit of everything and soon found out that almost all the delicacies were to her liking. Even Chloe who was not a big eater, wasn't able to stop herself from eating a little bit more than usual. Unlike her sister, Claire was a hearty eater. She enjoyed the food and Emily found herself nodding her head at the girl's dining etiquette.

She blatantly turned a blind eye on a certain glutton's table manners and enjoyed the meal as well. Lunch was finished without any fuss. Kate found herself rubbing her belly with half closed eyes. She was still immersed in the tastes of the food that she had a few minutes ago.

"You can come and visit us anytime," Ethan said with a smile. "Just make sure to tell us a few days in advance so we can prepare."

"Will you have a feast waiting for me when I do?"

"Of course."

"Alright, I'll make sure to visit often!" Kate decided to visit Ethan from time to time in order to enjoy good food. Although the Belle Estate never lacked delicious food, it was the first time she tasted cuisines from many different countries.

"Hah~ I can't move. I'm so full." Although Kate felt a bit uncomfortable, she didn't regret stuffing herself with food. When she was still wandering the streets, eating delicious food was a luxury that was hard to come by.

Although she was a bit uncouth in her eating habits, she would never waste the food that was on her plate. People who experienced not eating for days truly understood what it meant to appreciate good food. Kate was once a part of these unfortunate people.

Since they had just finished eating, Ethan led the girls to the terrace where they could relax. It was a cloudy day and the wind was blowing softly. They were currently in the middle of Spring and the weather was still a bit cold.

Chloe rested her head on her sister's shoulder and dozed off to sleep. Kate looked at her cute face and wondered what its like to see through her eyes. Ever since their relationship became close, Chloe opened up to her and confided the hardships she experienced in her daily life.

Kate felt pity when she heard her story. She was amazed when Chloe told her that the only person she could see clearly was Ciel. Even if she was enshrouded in darkness, his image would remain bright and clear as if he was standing in daylight.

Kate thought that this might be the reason why Chloe was overly attached to Ciel. Since he was the only one she could see within the darkness, he became a beacon of hope for her.

She shifted her gaze to the girl beside Chloe. Claire was busy reading a book. Kate assumed that it was the same book she showed them last time.

'I forgot the title…'

Ethan was seated in front of her and he was amused because Kate kept on changing her expressions. If he knew that Kate was talking to her split personality, he might have asked her to introduce him to Stella.

When Ethan finally has the opportunity to meet Stella, he is left speechless because of the circumstances going on at the time. But that story will be told in the near future. For now, Ethan was eager to do what Emily told him to do in order to spend some time alone with Kate. Since he didn't want to waste any time, he put his plan into action.

"Kate, do you know how to ride horses?" Ethan asked.

"Um? Ride horses?" Kate's eyes opened wide. "No. I've never even seen a horse in real life. Only the ones shown on T.V."

Ethan grinned and winked at her. "Then would you like to try riding one?"

"I can ride one?!" Kate stared at Ethan with sparkling eyes. She always wanted to try riding a horse, but there was no opportunity to do it. There was this one time when she asked Ciel if they owned any horses. Ciel told her that they did, however they were located in a farm a mile away from the residence.

Ciel asked her if she would like to learn horse riding, but Kate had just entered the Belle Estate and was still a little shy around people. She didn't want to be a nuisance so she firmly rejected Ciel's offer.

Ethan was giving her an opportunity to learn horse riding. This was something she didn't want to miss so she happily agreed. Ethan then asked Claire if she was interested to come with them as well.

Claire thought for a bit then looked at the sleeping Chloe by her side. Although she was tempted to go with them, she couldn't leave her sister alone. In the end, she decided to stay and watch over her sleeping sister while reading the book in her hands.

She knew that there would be plenty of opportunities to try horse riding in the future, so she was not in a hurry. Ethan and Kate headed to the stables and Claire continued reading her book. Only Chloe remained oblivious to what was happening around her and continued to sleep.
