1 The story of a loser

It all happened in the cool of the evening. It was the time the imperial soldiers patrolled the streets of the city. They were feared because if provoked, could act unruly to the people.

Unfortunately, I, Ren Dick, a drunkard then had just been kicked out of my usual bar. My head was floating in the skies and I didn't know what I was doing.

I crashed into the chest of one of the soldiers as I wobbled to find my way with my blurry vision. He looked at me with disgust in his eyes and spat on me.

I couldn't take that insult! Never! So, I spat back on him.

Before I had a chance to runaway I was surrounded, "You're so dead you filthy peasant," the man who had spat on me yelled in a coarse tone.

He was the first to deal me a blow.

I tried my utmost best to defend myself but I was overpowered. The fight was a one man against five men. So unequal.

That evening I was beat to a pulp. My face has been disfigured and my eyes oozing out a crystal clear liquid.

I was ashamed of myself.

It wasn't uncommon to hear that the imperial soldiers beat up civilians or raped the weaker gender. I was just accustomed to hearing the stories from the lips of others. Not experiencing it myself.

I knew deep down why I had been beaten and defeated. It was because I was weak. Had I been stronger, I would have stood a chance against them. Maybe I'd have defeated them with ease– if only I had had power at that time.

Thus began my quest for power.

First, I needed training. Soul training, Combat training, Meditation and lots more.

I sought a great teacher who was a master in combat. He had defeated the enemies of the city single handedly before and was a great spiritual man. He was none other than Saa Maa. Yes, that's his name.

At first he refused to have anything to do with me, "Get out," he had yelled.

I was persistent.

Then with time his heart softened. He opened up to me and taught me a lot of things that the former me would never have known about.

To be honest, I went through hell. It was torture undiluted but I saw results I wanted. I had become stronger. Much stronger. Even stronger than my sensei– just kidding, he's a monster.

"Dicky," that's what he calls me, "Do me proud," he said and shut his door behind him. I was on my own.

I was going to become the strongest, no, I was the strongest.

So off I was into the world to save the weak from being bullied and stop the strong from bullying.

It was my destiny.
