Chapter 1

" I don't wanna wake up again" is the first thought that came to my mind. I got up to the bathroom and got myself ready for school, it's so boring to me by now, just the same daily routine, covering my scars with light make up and wear my uniform, I wish it could stop. I make my myself breakfast as I see that mum hasn't came back since yesterday and she still isn't answering my calls, that's also not new to me. I text her friend Carla if she knows where she is, but she doesn't, I hope she is okay and returns home soon. I go to school on foot and put the headphones in my ears to listen to some music and tune out of the world till I go to school.

I reach the school and meet Bellany and Raya, my only two friends, I hug them both tightly, best thing happened in the morning so far.

"Hey girl, how are you?" Raya asked

"I'm great and you guys? how was the weekend for y'all?"

"It was great, we went to a party that my dad's boss made" Bell answered.

"It's great to know that you had some good time there"

"What did you do in the weekend Liz?" Bell quesitioned me with a sly face.

"I didn't do much, I studied and stayed at home, pretty boring right?"

"No darling don't feel like that, it's fine if you like staying inside" Raya said and patted my shoulder as the first bell rang.

"See ya girls later I guess"

"See ya" Raya waved with a smile.

I walk away to my class, it seems that Bell is like that since the year started, she is being mean and as if Raya is trying to make things better. We had a Physics pop quiz, I'm glad I revised for that last night.

"Hey mop head" says Sofia, the class bully says. I look at who she is picking at and find no one.

"Yes you dummie" she points at me, oh God no, I just hid the scars from the day before the weekend.

"What do you want?"

"Is this how you talk to me?" she goes and throws her bag at me. It hurts my belly really hard , but I take the blow silently.

"Why didn't you give me answers for the test?" she asks pressing most of her weight on my foot.

"You were sitting at the far back and I sit in the front" I say gritting my teeth from the pain.

"No excuses mop head, do I need to remind you? What does a good dog says?"

"I'm sorry, Sofia" I say in deep pain.

"Good job, you better do my class duties and homework for the week to make up for the test" The class stays silent as I get beaten up as usual when a guy from the class next to us came to say hi to a friend of his and I can see him getting angry and I don't want him to get hurt or get in trouble for me, it's not really worth it, she will stop bullying me in a little while as long as I do as she wants me to. No one likes to stand against Sofia

"Hey you" Sofia looked at him.

"Yes you dummie" he mimicked her saying it and the whole class laughed at him, he seems like a goofy person, he made me even smile.

"How dare you talk to me like that?"

"How dare you talk to her like that?" he pointed at me and his face got serious again.

"It's non of your business pretty boy" she replied.

"You are mistaken, it's my very personal business, she is my friend and you can't do such thing to her "

"You can't be friends with mop head, she is way out of your league, If I don't what are you going to do anyways?" she raised her eyebrow, mostly thinking he is silly and a waste of time.

"Or I will tell the home room teacher and get you suspended for some good while, if they didn't then I will make sure I beat you up well myself and you can't do something at this point, I have a black belt in Taekwondo" she flinches a little and let's out a long breath then walks away to her desk, I get up feeling guilty, he could have actually got in trouble with her because of me.

"Hey, can we talk?" he motions for me to come out of class.

"Hey, you didn't need to he--"

"Hey, you need to stand up for yourself, you can't leave someone like her treating you that bad and just hold it in and take the blow like that, you don't deserve that, you deserve better" he said looking at me deeply in the eyes, he is being sincere.

"Oh right by the way, my name is Lucas, call me Luke" he stretches his hand for me for a handshake.

"I'm Elizabeth, call me Liz" I smile as I shake his hand.

"Who is your friend in our class by the way?"

"It's Jayden"

"Yeah of course someone like you would be a close friend to Jayden" I giggle, Jayden is a goofy guy who makes everyone around him laugh even during class, most teachers love him exept the very strict ones.

"Yeah pretty similar, huh?" he said as he smirked. He made me giggle again.

"Yeah" I look at him and smile, I haven't had a new friend for almost 3 to 4 years now, it feels good. I look at the end corridor and find my teacher on her way to the my class.

"Are you hurt or something Liz? She did beat you up really bad"

"No, I'm fine, I better head to class because my teacher is right behind you."

"Ok then, I guess I will see you later then"

"Yeah, sure" I smile as I enter the class right before my teacher comes in after me. The class was the usual, nothing too much, I kept thinking about Luke and how nice he was to me, there wasn't people nice to me except Raya and Bellany.

The ring to Lunch break rang and the students bursted out of the classroom like a flood of water, I go to the cafetria and search for Raya and Bellany to sit and eat with them, but they are no where to be found, suddenly I found someone patting my shoulder gently, I turn around to see Luke.

"Oh hey Luke"

"Hey Liz, hope you had some fun classes today" I laughed

"Geography was so fun I can't say it enough"

"Dang, was it Mr. Robinson?"

"Good guess, yes it was him" He smiled

"Goodluck with him then" We laughed again

"Thanks" I look awkwardly for my friends again while standing with him who are no where to be found.

"Hey, do you want to join me and Jayden for Lunch?"

" Are you sure I won't cause you trouble? I don't want to annoy you"

"Dude, no, we would love to have you around, let's dig in our food"

I started taking the food I packed from last night, but I found that I forgot the sandwishes and only picked an apple, Luke looked at me then smiled.

"Hey let's do something fun, let's put all of the food we got at the middle of the table so we can share it with each other"

"Okay, but i want to taste a lot of your food Luke, too bad for you I guess" Jayden smirks and starts eating, as I was about to start eating, Bellany and Raya came to our table and Bellany didn't look so much amused at the scene.
