25 You Feel Like Home

She swallowed dryly, unable to wet her parched throat, glancing away from Sam unable to make eye contact she added, "Sam..You're still the same for me." she said almost in a whisper but he heard his mystery girl clearly.

She glanced back at him to see his face lit up like a neon sign, a beautiful smile completely enveloping his face.

"I am glad. I'm really really glad." His voice was calm and pleasant.

She stared at his face for a minute or so, admiring everything about him from the way his face lit up every time he smiled to the way he got shy and looked away while he chuckled at himself every time she teased him to the brown freckle he had on his forehead between his eyes and the way his eyes crinkled in the corner every time he smiled.

They say eyes are the windows to the soul and if that was true, his was indeed beautiful. She could see the pain in his eyes, his gentleness and basically every emotion that came together to form the art of his soul. It formed a picture to see in an instant to understand him within a full depth.

His light brown eyes like polished amber in the first rays of dawn were beautiful. However it was not only about the colour, it was also about the loving heavenly essence that was so clearly there. He had his eyes open and warm like that of a child's in front of her. It was in this moment she knew she had found her safe place in him, her place to find company when the winds blew as from those brown eyes came a sense of home.

*Buzz Buzzz Buzzzzzz* she felt her phone vibrate on her lap. She flipped it around to see Natalie's name appear. "Aw, man! I told her to let me know when they get free! What do I do? This is the first time Sam and I are finally having a conversation when he is finally opening up to me." She thought to herself confused about what to do as she didn't want to hurt Natalie's feelings either.

"I'm sorry it will just take a minute." She said to Sam as she disconnected the line and messaged Natalie to tell her she would meet them in the cafeteria in ten minutes.

"So where we?" she turned back to Sam. "I was gonna say it's my turn to ask you questions now," he smirked and her phone started to buzz again, it was Natalie's call. "I'm so sorry!" she said interrupting his attempt to get to know her deeper as he looked at her like a little child who was refused his candy when he finally, "Yeah I think you should get it..."

*Phone call conversation*

Ashley: Hello?

Natalie: Ashley please come now, we are all here. Plus Anna's not feeling too well.

Ashley: Why what happened? Is she okay?

"Is that Ashley?" she heard Anna's voice from a distance. "Let me talk to her."

Anna: Hi Ashley, please come over to the cafe? I don't feel alright.

Ashley: What happened, sweetie?

Anna: My stomach hurts a lot.

Ashley: Okay okay, just gimme five minutes I'm coming.

"Is everything alright?" asked Samuel in a worrisome voice as she disconnected the call.

"Uhh yeah my friend's not feeling too well, she is asking me to come over so I think I'm gonna go."

"Ohh, where is she? I mean when will get to see you again?"

She looked at him with the sweetest smile across her lips. "Does he not want me to leave?" she thought to herself as she studied his facial expressions.

"My friends are at the cafeteria and I am here till 3 until the buses leave so I will come to say goodbye to you before I leave okay?"

"Oh yeah, that'd be great!"

Just as she hurriedly picked up her bag to leave to find her friend who was in distress. Sam continued, "Ashley? Can I walk you to the cafeteria? I mean I had to go there too for lunch to catch up with Emma, right?"

"Of course you can walk with me!" she smiled at him.

He quickly got up and slid his mobile into his pocket. As they reached the library exit, he pulled the door open for her just as he had done before. "After you!" he looked at her smiling.

It was all these little things that he did that made her love him even more. He was perfect, and yes of course she knew no human could ever be perfect but if a human being could come close to perfection, it would be him. It definitely is him. There was nothing she wanted to change about him. She was in love with him, she loved him and it was no longer just his face or his eyes, she was in love with his heart. The way he put his parent's wishes before his, the way he innocently hinted Zoey he thought she was nice, the way his voice cracked when he laughed. The way he was walking next to her, close enough to make her feel safe and protected but far enough to make sure she wasn't too uncomfortable.

"So where do you live, Ashley?"

"I live near the park that has that dinosaur statue." she laughed. "At St. Paul's street."

"Really? I live on the street just next to that one!" he smiled wide. "Hey! Maybe if I come here in the morning I could pick you up and we can come here together."

"I don't think you will ever want to come here to study in the library at 8 in the morning when I reach to take my morning classes but if you ever do then sure why not?"

"Hmm guess I'm gonna have to start setting my routine accordingly then!" he winked.

Her cheeks flushed and her heart raced as a mischievous smile ran across his lips. She rolled her eyes at his innocent attempt at flirting, smiling shyly as she did so.

She loved how light everything was with him. "So, when are you gonna come over to my campus again?" And hey! Have you visited my high school by the way?" he asked excitedly.

"Not anytime soon, plus why would I come? I don't even study at my library, why would I come over to yours? And yeah I have been to your high school twice or thrice I think. Not a lot but yeah it has antique look, I really liked it."

He smiled as he added, "Well maybe you can miss Zoey again so when you come over to spend the day with her maybe you can spend some time with me too?"

The smile on her face grew wider, "I can't promise anything soon but we will come up with something later, how does that sound?"

"Better than a no!" he chuckled.
