Roxanne

It was around four fifteen of the evening when Ashley reached that day. As she got off the bus she saw her mom's white coloured civic opposite the sidewalk, waiting for her. "Thank God I won't have to walk home today." She thought to herself."This day couldn't get any better!" she smiled.

As she pulled the handle to the car door, the only thing she could think of was her little sister, Roxanne. She was dying to tell Roxanne of the guy she had just met.

"Hey, mom! Thanks for coming to pick me up!" said Ashley in a delightful mood as she jumped inside her mom's car.

"No problem sweetie! How was your day? Did you eat lunch at school?" inquired her mom.

"Umm actually it was Samantha's birthday today so I am already full with her birthday cake." lied Ashley.

"Oh that's nice, did you kids have fun?

"You bet we did, it was amazing." she smiled at her mother as she pictured Sam's dashing face in front of her eyes.

"You know I did make lasagna for lunch today, your favourite," said Ashley's mom, knowing her daughter a little too well.

"Ha-ha! You know I can't say no to your homemade lasagna! I will have some later in the evening." she smiled.

As soon as they arrived home, Ashley rushed inside to see where her little sister was and was not surprised when she snuck her head inside their room only to find her sister sleeping peacefully on their bed. "How is she always sleeping?" She thought to herself.

Roxanne and Ashley, despite having an age gap of 8 years were insanely tight to each other, almost always leaving others in a state of curiosity. The two sisters were more like best friends, there was nothing they didn't share with each other. Between the two, Roxanne despite being only twelve was more a realist while Ashley more a dreamer and because of this, Roxanne would keep an eye out for her sister who often wore her heart on her sleeve.

Ashley quietly laid beside her sister and whispered in her ear, "Roxanne wake up. Come on sleeping beauty it's time to get up now!" but Roxanne was fast asleep. "She is still like a baby." Ashley thought to herself admiring how adorable her little sister looked while sleeping in her blue PJs and Naruto t-shirt, with her dark auburn wavy hair all over her face, resembling princess Anna from Frozen while sleeping.

"Roxanne, sweetie it is time to wake up! how long are you gonna sleep?" said Ashley a little louder this time.

"Can I please take off from school today, I don't feel well," replied Roxanne, mumbling in her sleep.

"It is 4 pm, it is not time for school, it is time for you to get up and do your homework sleepy head!" teased Ashley.

Roxanne opened her eyes in sleep and muttered, "What do you want Ashley?"

"I wanna share something exciting with you! But it is no fun if you gonna be sleeping."

"But what is it?"

"I think I am in love..."

"WHAT!?" Roxanne's eyes widened as she got up and sat. "Are you serious? Who is it? Full story please?"

Ashley explained to her sister the entire scene that happened making sure not to miss out on any details when finally Roxanne asked for his picture.

"I don't have a picture of him," said Ashley.

"What about his social media? Facebook? Instagram? There's gotta be something useful for us out there." suggested Roxanne.

"Oh yeah, that we can try!" said Ashley, realizing how smart her baby sister was.

The girls typed in Samuel's name on the search bar on Facebook on Ashley's account and luckily found him to be the first one on the result list because of all the mutual friends of the two. With the entire profile that was set on public, as soon Ashley clicked on his profile picture, Roxanne snatched away her phone to get a better look. The display picture opened right away and there he was again from the annual dinner night, smiling with the brightest smile anyone could imagine, the kind of smile that can light up the whole town, the kind of smile one writes poems about.

Roxanne spent another ten minutes stalking his Facebook profile from top to bottom, going through his old pictures from school with friends with one of them having Barney Stinson's dialogue from How I Met Your Mother as the caption, that read "You're my best friend, all right? You don't have to tell me I'm yours. But the way I see it, we're a team. Without you, I'm just the dynamic uno." Ashley recognized it right away, making her happy that he too was a How I Met Your Mother fan.

Other pictures were from childhood, from cricket and football teams that he was a part of in high school. "He's really into sports." The girls noticed he had also written poems on his Facebook. "A cute nerdy guy who is into sports writes poems and has good choice sitcoms. He is too good to be true." Ashley thought to herself.

"So, what do you think?" Ashley finally asked her sister.

"Ewww!! I don't like him, I wanted a guy like Jesse Eisenberg and he looks like a dollar tree version of him," replied Roxanne chuckling as she teased her sister.

"Hey, the pictures don't do justice to how cute he is in person. I am telling you if you had just seen him today, the way he walked, the way he spoke aaaahhh you'd know."

"Hmm well if he is *that* amazing let's add him on Facebook!" said Roxanne cutely.

Ashley quickly pulled her phone from her little sister's hands. "We are NOT sending him a friend request! We have to play it cool, I took the initiative, right? Made the first move but we can't come off as too needy, we have got to leave him wanting more so that he realizes he wants to be with me too!" winked Ashley as she explained to her twelve-year-old sister how it is done.

Hey guy!! please share your comments and tell me what you think of Ashley's little sister?
