He's Kinda Cute

"Okay! Everybody off!" shouted the bus conductor.

Ashley opened her relaxing eyes to realise she had nodded off while enjoying the cool weather air not even realizing when they reached. She got off the bus and made her way to the cafeteria to look for her friends.

As she entered the cafeteria, she noticed college kids setting up music systems in front of the entrance in preparation for the valentine's day celebrations. The entire cafeteria building was decorated beautifully with red heart-shaped balloons and red rose chandeliers hanging from the ceiling on the inside.

"Hey, hey, here! Ashley!" someone said from behind.

She turned around to see it was, Natalie, waving her to come over to the table where the rest of the girls were. Natalie was one of the three friends, Ashley had made in her first few weeks as a freshman at her dental school, along with Anna and Samantha. She was around 5 ft 7 inches tall, with a soft wheatish skin complexion and had locks of dark chocolatey brown hair that she would keep flowing over her shoulders, along with her cat eyeglasses, which went perfectly with her elegant personality.

"Hey, what took you so long?" said Anna to Ashley as she put her bag down.

"Sorry, my bus driver is real slow," replied Ashley. "This place looks incredible, they really put in a lot of effort to give the whole Valentine look, didn't they?"

"Yeah, I love how the couples are all wearing red too, really going about with the theme," said Anna happily.

"Yeah, too bad we are all single at this time of the year," said Natalie softly.

"Well I have a boyfriend!" said Samantha proudly.

"You mean to say your imaginary boyfriend?" laughed Anna.

"Yeah, how come we have never met this *boyfriend* of yours? Ask him to come over here sometime, meet your friends. We are friends right?" laughed Ashley teasing her friend.

"I'm a private person girls, the more people you involve in your relationship, the more unnecessary drama so I like to keep my relationship discreet," said Samantha.

"And by that, you mean to keep it in your dreams?" smirked Anna.

"Make fun all you want my girls, but the bottom line is while I have a valentine, you don't!" winked Samantha, as she pointed on her wristwatch that showed it was already 9. "And can we please go upstairs now for the class? I don't want to end in either of the professor's bad books in my freshman year, okay?" giggled Samantha.

The girls walked around the campus, trying to reach their class on time. As they did, Ashley noticed lovely desk setups around the campus in which couples could dedicate love songs to one another or one could anonymously send a flower to their crush. Adorably funny, she thought.

"You guys, I forgot I had to go speak to the administration about my fee voucher." cried Anna. "You guys go ahead, I will catch you inside, okay? Save me a seat!"

The lecture hall was fully packed. Everyone dressed up decently for the official "love day." It was during the lecture when Ashley felt her phone vibrate. She took a quick peek to see who it was and to her surprise it was Zoey.

*Text Message Conversation*

Zoey: Ash?? Are you at school?

Ashley: Hey! Yes, I am, What's up? Is everything okay?

Zoey: Yeah! I was missing you again. LOL, so I took a day off and decided to study at the library on your campus. Meet me when you get free?

Ashley: Sure thing!

"I am so happy you are here!!" said Ashley as she gave Zoey a big hug.

"Shhhhhhhh.." hissed the librarian

"Zoey, come on let's go for a walk! I have been taking classes the whole day, I am so tired plus you can take a break from your books too? Pleeaaaaseee?" said Ashley, making the puppy-dog face at her friend.

"Okay okay." laughed Zoey

As they walked around, Ashley burst out with excitement, "So what plans do you guys have for tonight? My lovely betrothed couple?"

"BETROTHED? HA-HA! Well...Isaac said it is a surprise so we will see tonight."

"Ooo, sounds like he has something special planned for the soon to be missus?" joked Ashley.

"HA-HA! Would you stop with the engagement jokes?"

"No, I will not!" teased Ashley smiling.

"Oh I got my pictures from the annual dinner this morning, do you wanna have a look?"

"OF COURSE I DO!!!" said Ashley, literally hopping with excitement.

Annual dinner was a yearly event held by respective colleges. Since Ashley and Zoey belonged to the same university but different colleges, they sometimes had separate events. As the girls went through the pictures they stumbled upon one in particular that caught Ashley's attention. In it was Zoey standing next to a boy who looked familiar. Wearing a black suit and a bowtie, having ebony black hair and glasses that sat neatly upon his nose and a half-smile that ran smoothly across his innocent face. "He's kinda cute." she thought to herself.

"What's wrong?" Zoey interrupted.

"Ohhh sorry, nothing I was wondering who this guy was. He looks familiar.." said Ashley politely.

"That's Samuel! You remember him right?"

"Umm, No but I think I have heard his name before?"

"I told you about him, he is a friend of mine and Isaac's. He was with us in high school. He dated my friend, Angela, remember? My best friend from the new high school."

"OH YEAAAH! He is THAT Samuel! Angela's Samuel, I remember him! The one who was really into sports and all. He has changed a lot from the last time I saw him in your pictures. Wait, he is with you here in med school?" inquired Ashley.

"Yeah, he is with me but we don't talk a lot since he and Angela broke up a few months back," replied Zoey.

"Oh, that's too bad," said Ashley.
