1 College

Xing Yan lays on her bed with the phone on speaker. Tomorrow is her first day going to college, and she's very excited but nervous.

"Nan Ge, can you tell me about your first day of college experience again?" Xing Yan calls her older sister on the phone.

Her sister is in her third year of college, and ever since Xing Yan got accepted to the same college as her sis, she has been asking her the same question.

"Li Xing Yan!" Nan Ge calls out her name like she'll strangle her if she asks the same question one more time.

"You've been asking the same question over 20 times already. Just go to sleep."

She ended the phone before Xing Yan can say anything. It's 11 pm, and Xing Yan lays on the bed with her eyes open. How could she fall asleep? Her eyes are wide open as her heart is beating so fast. She's actually very nervous because she can finally be a step closer to him. Ever since she got accepted to B University, she couldn't wait to step into the campus. She couldn't wait to see and step into the place that he was once in. Thinking about it makes her even more excited.

The whole night, Xing Yan couldn't fall asleep. The next day, her eyes were too dry that she couldn't wear her contacts. She couldn't help but wear her glasses.

Her parents drop her off at the front door with two big pieces of luggage. "You sure you'll be fine? Do you need dad to help you bring it up?" her mom said to her. Both Li baba and Li mama were going to help their daughter settle things down in the dorm, but Xing Yan told them that she could do it.

"I'll be fine. You guys can go." Xing Yan said with a smile. Both Li baba and Li mama looks at each other, then nods. "Call us if you need anything," Li baba said before leaving.

Nan Ge came out of the school and saw Xing Yan waiting for her.

"Dad and mom left?"

"Yep." Xing Yan then hands over one of her luggage to Nan Ge. "Let's go?" she said with a smile on her face.

Nan Ge walks her to the girl's dormitory and helps her settle down before leaving for her class.

Each room has four bunks, and Xing Yan took the bottom left bunk. She has three other roommates who are Xue Er, Shu Yao, and Jing Yi.

Shu Yao and Jing Yi are both majoring in literature. Xue Er is majoring in becoming a director. And as of Xing Yan, she's majoring in photography.

Today, there's an open ceremony for the new students, and they invited a famous person to come for a talk. But they didn't give away who the person is.

"Are you guys going to go to the ceremony?" Shu Yao asks.

Shu Yao and Jing Yi both have to go because it's mandatory for them.

Xue Er said no because she has to find her boyfriend, who is also in this school.

"Did they say who the famous person is?" Xing Yan asks them. Both of them shakes their head. The school didn't say who they invited, but many people assume that the school is just saying to make them attend this boring welcome ceremony.

"You guys can go. I'll walk around the campus."

The three of them parted off, and Xing Yan starts walking around the campus with her camera.

She starts taking pictures of the buildings and nature around the campus. Her phone then rings, and it is a message from Nan Ge.

"Xing Yan, guess who the famous person is. It's Gu Xing Ran."

Xing Yan looks at the message with her eyes wide open.

It's Gu Xing Ran. She held her camera tightly in her hand as she runs to the open ceremony. The ceremony has already started for twenty-minute, and she isn't sure if the speech is already over.

But how could she miss this opportunity? One of the main reasons why she came to this school is because of him too. Even though Gu Xing Ran doesn't know who Xing Yan is, he has a huge impact on her. His hard work and dedication have made her more determined to become a photographer. Since then, he has been like her idol.

Li Xing Yan arrives at the door and saw many girls surrounding Gu Xing Ran. 'The talk is over?' as she asks herself. But whatever, she needs to walk past those girls and talk to Gu Xing Ran.

As one of her hands protects her camera from being squished, her other hand tries to get through those people. But those people wouldn't budge and even push her further back.

As she thought that her luck couldn't get any worse, a girl who's arguing with her boyfriend didn't see Xing Yan and bumped into her. Xing Yan lost her balance, and her camera slipped out of her hand.

Xing Yan tries to catch it, but it was too late. A loud crash, and everyone turns around.

Xing Yan didn't realize everyone is looking at her, and even Gu Xing Ran. Xing Yan limps over to where her camera is. Because her camera strap happened to be broken 2 days ago and she didn't have time to buy a new one, she could only hold on to it. And now her camera is broken.

She looks at the cracked screen and lens. This camera was given by someone special of hers, and they don't sell this model anymore. Xing Yan could feel her eyes starts to water up. The girl who accidentally bumped into her wants to go up and apologize but didn't know how to after seeing Xing Yan in that mood.

Nan Ge, who happened to be there helping out a friend, saw her sister in that situation. She walks over to her and saw what happened.

"Xing Yan, are you hurt?"

Nan Ge knows that Xing Yan's camera is more important than herself. Before Nan Ge says something again, Xing Yan starts crying and holds on to Nan Ge.

Nan Ge quickly pats her and tries to comfort her, but Xing Yan wouldn't stop. She then saw Gu Xing Ran also looking at them.

Nan Ge then quietly whispers something to Xing Yan. "Gu Xing Ran is looking you right now." After that hearing that, Xing Yan quickly stops crying. She sniffs her nose while holding onto her camera.

After knowing Gu Xing Ran is looking, Xing Yan doesn't even want to look up yet. She can't allow him to see her crying face, even though he already heard her cry.

Seeing that Xing Yan stops crying, the girl who accidentally bumped into her before came up to her.

"I'm sorry, are you okay?" she asks carefully. The girl knows that her camera is broken and knows that she will have to pay for it.

Li Xing Yan wipes the tears from her face, and with the help of Nan Ge, she got up from the floor.

"I'm okay. It's just that the camera is broken." She looks down at the broken camera as her heart hurts.

"Don't worry, I'll pay for the expenses," the girl said in a low voice. Even though she said she'll pay, she doesn't have that much money.

Li Xing Yan shakes her head. "It's okay. They don't sell this model anymore, and it's an old camera. If it didn't break today, it'd break later too." She didn't plan to tell the girl to pay for the damages to the camera because it wasn't totally the girl's fault.

The girl looks at her and not sure what to say. She knows how expensive this camera is. She then said sorry again before leaving the auditorium.

Xing Yan looks at her camera and presses the power button. As expected, the camera didn't open.

Nan Ge knows how sad she is and tries to comfort her.

"Let me see," a voice said.

Xing Yan recognizes that voice. She looks up and saw Gu Xing Ran standing in front of her. Xing Yan blinks her eyes with disbelief.

Gu Xing Ran puts his hand out as if he's saying, give me the camera. Xing Yan places the broken camera in his hand and watches him.

Gu Xing Ran looks at the camera, and his facial expression didn't change. Xing Yan doesn't know if he can find a way to fix it, and she just quietly waits for him.

"It can't be safe anymore."

Five minutes have passed, and that's the only thing he said.

Nan Ge really wants to give him an eye, but thinking that it's her sister's idol, she didn't. She snatches the camera from his hand. "Well, thanks for telling us," Nan Ge said and give Xing Yan back the camera.

Gu Xing Ran looks at Xing Yan. At first, he thought she was crying because she got hurt. But after knowing that she was crying because of the camera, it suddenly reminded him of someone, and his heart suddenly softens.

"Tomorrow, I'll be here again. I can't save it, but I'll be donating one of my old cameras. If you don't mind, you can come and try to win it yourself." He didn't wait for Xing Yan to respond and left. He's already late for his next show, and because of the incident, he stayed. Gu Xing Ran doesn't know why he stayed and even comfort a little girl. But that camera, he has one at home too.

"Xing Yan, maybe ask mom to see if anyone knows how to fix it?" Nan Ge said as she carefully looks at her sister. Nan Ge brought her to their favorite place to eat lunch, but Xing Yan stares at her camera.

Xing Yan shakes her head.

"It can't be fixed."
